Ghost said Supreme Clientelle 2 possibly out in May 2025.
Hard to imagine that coming out in 5 months time.
Would love to be proved wrong though of course.
It’s been so long already. Maybe just hard to believe after all this time.
I think there's more chance of this never dropping than it actually dropping at this point. He said it was almost done in an interview 15 years ago!
May 2025? I'd find it hilarious if this dropped all of a sudden with no promo or fan fare other than a half assed street single with a b list RnB singer on the hook. That would be fucking hilarious after all this time!
I think we are on the same page for this one.
Maybe at first it gets delayed. Delayed to a day on which somebody else like Rae or RZA is also dropping, better yet a Clan album. In any case, the date is not his. On top of that, the release will be followed by a Coffee Bean Promo EP, which just adds to the confusion. The music video for the R&B single is going to be some uncomfortable cringe shit again shot by a 16 year old first timer.
EDIT:
LMAO, he was almost doing a complete R&B record the last time. Switched it for the fans, thus Set The Tone: Guns & Roses.
SC2 supposed to have records from 2007.
So Set The Tone was actually an appetizer. (What is up with that. 90's rappers dropping albums like they are mixtapes. Why did they not just focus on the other project?)
Ha, he says he is expecting it to be "May, 2025, In sha' Allah"
This interview is probably from the end of November, that was when Ghost was touring Europe. He visited Paris on the 24th
Honestly, I don’t want to hear any Wu member do a follow up to a legendary album. We don’t need Tical part 3, OB4CL 3, Supreme Clientele 2025, etc. Attaching that name at this point would be purely to garner attention and intrigue, generate hype and boost sales, but in no way, shape or form can any of them do those projects justice the way Raekwon did OB4CL2. The only one I might be interested in is a Blackout 3 given Meth still drops the best verses, but then I remember Blackout 2 and how much time has passed and then it’s just not worth it. None of these could really get me hyped to be honest. Only a serious attempt to get out the music they supposedly recorded for these back in the day they mentioned it would be released. Give me Crystal Meth, Dark Matter, or whatever. But new Wu, no thank you.
Set the Tone or whatever it was called was an embarrassment. Peace
Wasnt Redman announcing muddy waters too at the same time? Hopefully we get a great albjm from ghost once more. Last good effort for me was fishscale
I could see May as a real possibility. It’s his bornday month, so maybe it’s his gift to himself. He’s a perfectionist when it comes to SC2, he isn’t treating it like Set The Tone. That was thrown together and out there to (try) to keep his name relevant to the younger generation so they check for SC2….whenever that happens
I think it will come down to whether he paid to clear the samples, and/or had access to some fire from the vault like Rae on Linx 2. I recall him saying ages ago in an interview he kept finding better beats that kept replacing the ones on the current tracklist but who knows at this point.
It also needs a decent exec producer, which I remember Kanye was attached to a while back but I doubt that's the case any more.
Ghost strikes me more as indecisive, than a perfectionist. Why in the hell would your throw all that other stuff out. If you are a real perfectionist, you sit there for days trying to get that one drum right. Nah, he is not.
And in regard to Kanye, dude is busy on too many other projects. Last I heard he was in Tokyo in a hotel room, finishing up his album all alone. What made it harder to work on other projects. But we shall see. Maybe he gives it a listen before they push it out.
I see like 2-3 more EP's released before this happens
Well well well, is it finally going to drop this year?
So the next questions are going to be:
Will it live up to its legacy?
Is there any hype?
Is it going to sell?
Will it live up to its legacy? Somewhat
Is there any hype? A little bit but not really
Is it going to sell? No
You gotta take these type of albums how they come, and disregard the title almost, otherwise you'll almost certainly be disappointed if you're going to immediately compare it track for track to the original.
Let’s hope SC2 doesn’t end up being anything like what CL2 was to it’s predecessor.
Wild that Wu heads don’t like CL2. Peace
For coming out so much later than it probably should have, OB4CL2 was surprisingly good. If SC2 is as good of a f/u, it will be a great album. But I'm certainly not expecting that
If SC2 is as good as OB4CL2 I’ll be VERY happy.
That album is excellent and a worthy follow up to the OG.
It’s the benchmark for what I’m hoping for.
There’s no chance this is like OB4CL2, we’ve all seen and heard GF latest attempts at a solid album and it’s been far from great. But that withstanding, think about the lack of features, how old everyone is now, how much the scene has changed so GF is unlikely to get a lot of support and financial investment behind it. Maybe some producers will do him a favor, but Raekwon had all the ingredients to get that to work; from producers, to pretty much the whole clan as features, big names all around, videos, still some Wu hype around that time or at least anticipating this release. SC2 would come to most people out of nowhere, 25 years later, lack of interest in getting a physical release etc. I just don’t see how in any universe this could live up to the hype of a OB4CL2, let alone as a proper sequel to a classic.
The main reason for a little bit of hope that this could be of that ilk is that he’s been holding his best beats/tracks back for this album since 2003. This is his last big album. It’s definitely possible that it could be a great album. Look how long OB4CL2 took to come out and how often it was delayed/how much the tracklist changed over time.
Only reason ima guve ghost benefit of doubt on this is because i think he saw how rae revitalized his career with 2. Ghosts shit isnt like HORRIBLE. It just lacks like any heart or any care.
if he half asses it, its on him. But if think hed be saving all his best tracks for this release. Ghost always had the best albums in clan and then slacke doutta nowhere. Those 2010+ albums are not REAL ghost albums. They manufactured products that came to him already made. This hes been saving tracks for years atp.
the alchemost track he premiered at the versus was the best ghost song in YEARS solo wise so yes i do got faith even if hes coasted to such a degree past 10 i dont check out his newer stuff that used ti be instant listen.
but, i feel like wu know whats good and not they just dont care. Can tell by the new wu album all the great songs on front end. They knew they were the best songs and the others wetent as good. So i still got faith that ghost got it in him.
especially because its getting a label release. Ghost didnt get sitned to put out that last album. Whole signing was to build for THIS album.
He’s got shit from 2003/4 that’s gonna be on SC2. He’s been stockpiling all this time. Why release it when he’s got people throwing money at him to perform and release “their stuff”?
No way it will sound anything like those 12 Reasons which sounded like a murder mystery novel written by a 12 yr old, 36 Seasons, Sour Soul, etc.. Ghost showing up for a paycheck.
SC2 is his project, so I’m sure we’ll see a different Ghost.
In 1999 Wu-tang was only a couple years removed from being top rappers in the game, in their late 20's for the most part and still household names among the young rap fans that bought most the music.
In 2025 they are more than a decade from making any music that has made a blip on the radar, and are grandpas irrelevant to the majority of music buyers that don't even know about Supreme Clientele.
The sequel could be a masterpiece that will get props from the old head diehards and still won't do numbers.
Nas is one the closest of the 90's rappers to being relevant in today's climate, and none of his acclaimed recent joints with Hit-boy did 100,000 units first week
Will today be the day for this thread?
People have not been this confused about a release since Bulletproof Wallets dropped with the wrong tracklist. I see on reddit people still thinking it is the 19th, but also mentioning the lack of promo.
LOL. I would not be surprised if Ghost is not doing any promo unless Nas pays him something.
Lol Mass Appeal haven't even announced a date, why would it drop?
I apologize for even starting this thread lol
Watched Slick Rick's film and streamed the album a few days ago.
No way we get something similar with Ghost.
I thought they did, and it went from 19th to th 20th. Have not seen the source though.
hahahaha, nah. This is legend.
The Slick Rick thing was just under 30 minutes I heard, with a lot of 2 minute songs. Still need to listen to that one.
