Okami certainly earned his title shot (it's sorta fucked up he got pushed to the side since Belfort was ready to fight), but he's going to be destroyed by Silva (keep in mind, the "win" he has over Silva is via disqualification. And the Silva from back then does not reflect the Silva of UFC).Quote:

I guess, if that Bones/Silva ever does happen (I have no interest in GSP/Silva anymore), then prepare to be surprised. YES, Silva will get taken down (A great wrestler like Sonnen is NOT the first to take Silva down), but Silva does have the tools to finish Bones. As good as Bones is, it's due mostly to genetics. Silva has great genetics AND well tested skills at this point. Let me put it another way, if a roided HIGH LEVEL wrestler can't beat Silva with broken ribs making it a point to finish the fight via submission, I have little doubt he'd beat Bones when it comes down to it. It's not impossible for Bones to beat him (any man can be beaten on any given day), I just don't think it's likely.Quote:

Listen, I'm by no means a Silva hater. I LOVED how he beat Sonnen, I loved how he beat Belfort, and don't give a fuck about his antics because he's awesome and he knows it. It's possible for Jones to beat Silva, no doubt. But Silva has shown with his unorthodox style he can beat someone like Bones who, as you said, is still new to the game. I call bullshit on that, and although it's not impossible for Jones to beat Silva, it's more likely one way or another Silva will beat him if that fight happens (Which, if it were to happen, won't for a long time).
Jone Jones is also a kinesthetic genius. His rapid development and in ring performances prove it.
Again, armbars, and triangles and submissions from the bottom, are all wins from the margins. Your are saying Silva will be on his back and therefore should win. That doesn't make sense.
You're not getting it. Wrestling. Wrestling. Wrestling. You can't say Silva is the favourite based on some abstract notion of his superiority. If one fighter can dictate where the fight goes, they have the advantage. Factor in everything else in about Jon Jones, and he is favoured.
Also, no, he doesn't just win by his physique alone. You KNOW very well what guys with no technique look like and they do not look like Jone Jones. This is the guy who was landing jumping knees and spinning back elbows against a Muay Thai specialist and Champion.
Jones, at the very least, has enough standup ability to stay alive or keep Silva honest for TD attempts.
anyone watch the ultimate fighter finale? nijem's decision to keep the fight standing against ferguson was interesting the say the least...
saw guida cop a bit of unfair heat for his performance... saying all he did was lay on him all fight... a bit rough considering how threatening pettis was from the bottom...

All I'm really saying is that the "Jones will destroy Silva" crowd (and yes, several people have typed that online) need to really take a realistic look at their records, who these fighters have both fought up to this point, and how these fighters have won. Truth be told, Jones hasn't been tested yet. It's not his fault, he doesn't have many fights under his belt yet, unlike Silva. Anderson has been tested one more than one occasion at this point. He has won in so many different ways that it would be foolish to think that Jones will walk right through him (as some have suggested).
I don't get why that idea (which is all I was really implying) is such a far-fetched one. Can Jones beat Silva? It's certainly possible. Is it likely considering ALL factors? No. As someone else noted, you can't teach chin. Does Jones have a chin? No one knows right now, and to say yes or no is PURE SPECULATION.
But in the unlikely event the fight does happen, I'm thinking it's likely Silva will win. I just don't want the excuses after wards which tend to pile up after his victories in recent times (Meh, it was a lucky kick. Meh, he got a lucky arm bar. etc). If Jones is the superfighter, as some are proclaiming (he is very talented and could certainly be one of the best in time) in the likely event that he loses to Silva (if that fight is to ever take place) I just hope those putting Jones on a pedestal will suck it up and just admit, "Yeah, basically Silva was the better fighter."
Dos Santos completely dominated Carwin!! He will beat Velasquez too imo.
