Won't immunity still be around? It'll suck if people'll be infected for a second time.

Research has shown that immunity decreases as months go by. Originally it was hoped that the infected would develop immunity that would hold out for one or maybe even two years but unfortunately it turns out this is not the case. Follow up tests of people who were infected in March show that quite a few of them no longer have the antibodies circulating in their blood that they had originally developed.
This means steady group immunity is very unlikely, that is based on the scientific research we have right now.
In case you are interested in figures Belgium currently has a percentage of 5.5 in group immunity, with the likelihood of this number slightly decreasing instead of increasing over time.
Immunity would take months, the whole herd immunity strategy was a complete failure in Sweden which has the highest death rate per capita. Consider Sweden is also nowhere near as densely populated as some other nations just proves that until a vaccine the only way to stop the spread of the virus was through a lockdown. Though at this point the economies have taken such a hit that many would prefer deaths than forcing another lockdown.
England has opened up and the streets have been packed for 2-3 weeks now, yesterday the barbars opened and people were queuing outside like morons.
There doesn't seem to be an increase in number of cases reported, the numbers are continuing to decrease. Nobody knows the real testing numbers though as some of the data is quite dodgy. The virus is still around but doesn't seem to be as deadly as it was before but that's just going from analysing the data. This pandemic has shown how jumbled up the science world is, I've read countless journals and reports which contradict each other. Data from different countries contradict data from another. One country says 'this drug works' while the other says it makes things worse. One thing is certain though and that is China fucking lied.
Yes, China definitely lied.
There have been new local outbreaks in parts of Spain (2 different regions by now), Croatia, Serbia and Morocco over the last two days or so. While things might be improving (in Europe) overall local lockdowns in Europe and around the Mediterranean Sea are a new reality. It might be like this all summer, who knows.
I was planning a very short holiday in neighbouring country the Netherlands this summer but I've just decided not to take any chances. I'm just gonna stay home, now is not the time to travel, except maybe for people who have to do so in their job and then still...
The whole situation stinks. The world needs to hold China responsible for this and everything else they're doing. It's enough of doing business with that horrible regime.
Bolsonaro caught COVID. I was already wondering why it was taking so long. Dude's been balls deep in Lady Corona for months now the way he's been hugging and slobbering all of his voters.
A lot of people do not like Gov. Whitmer and her gang of chicks. She won't open the gyms even though studies have proven that people cannot contract COVID-19 through sweet.
I can see how people'll react to this mask law. Michigan is under a nasty heat wave. Wearing a mask in hot & humid weather can cause some people to collapse because you'll get hot with it on.
"I will not be bullied!" Lol. Ok.
down here (Belgium) the numbers are rising again. the R0 value has once again exceeded 1 (1 COVID patient contaminates more than 1 other person) and we are looking at over 100 registered contaminations a day. That doesn't look like much but keep the small population (about 11 million) and small area (just shy of 12 thousand square miles) in mind. Numbers might rise steeply soon.
to put the numbers into perspective : I'm talking about over 100 contaminations a day now but at the height of the crisis (end of April) there were 1,600 a day. As I said though, numbers can rise fast.
Most contaminations are in the group of 20 to 60 year olds now, which might explain why we are currently seeing few people ending up in hospital
I foresee local lockdowns for some cities and regions here later on this summer.
^^today the 2nd wave was made official by our government as week numbers have risen by a third this last week and as we had a particularly steep spike on Monday
yesterday 250,000 people were reported as being infected in 1 day worldwide, which is a new record
North Korea has confirmed its one and only COVID patient today. since it is only one patient and this just happened now they immediately put a whole city (border city Kaesong) on full lockdown
okay
to everybody's surprise this unfortunate man was a 'returnee from South Korea'. because people return from South Korea
of course there's widespread smuggling from both China and South Korea which is tolerated by the NK government on the downlow to keep people happy ('happy') at the local black markets
chances are the virus entered NK months ago already through smuggling routes from China. rumor has it that COVID reached Pyongyang by April. the new Pyongyang General Hospital, on which construction was started early in 2020, has not been completed yet, so there's that too
state propaganda of this being an isolated imported case from South Korea puts NK in the position to ask for and accept help from South Korea. things must be REALLY bad in NK right now that they are positioning themselves to ask for help after having blown up a NK/SK liaison bureau only last month. (the reason for last month's tension was the string of hot air balloon carried South Korean pamflets that were flown into NK, a private practise by SK citizens that the SK government supposedly neither encouraged nor tried to stop)
Our second biggest city just got slapped w/ a 4 week evening/night curfew, a facemask obligation and other restrictions. the port city of Antwerp is currently one of Europe's reddest zones, which means it has the highest level of COVID contamination
I see AOC caught that COVID
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/o...im-a-colonizer
bitch pump yo brakes
AOC is a piece of shit.
The first two confirmed cases have emerged of people getting infected with COVID twice
*a person in Hong Kong, four and a half months after his first infection
*a Belgian, four months after his first infection
We'lk have to wait and see to find out how often (rapid) reinfection might happen. For all we know these cases might be exceptions. it has always been assumed ed by scientists reinfection was probable (it is the case with other comparable diseases) but scientists had hoped, after comparison with same said other viruses, people would be immune for one to two years after they first got infected
^^btw there are different strains of COVID-19 going around by now (the virus has adapted and changed differently in various places). it would be interesting to find out whether these 2 patients were reinfected with the SAME strain as the first time
Usain Bolt has COVID, he's asymptomatic though
Death count hit a million last week.
Plus Trump has it.
There's a really serious second wave happening in continental Western Europe right now. Countries like Spain, France, Germany, Holland and Belgium.
There have been a handful of reports of the virus spreading from a mink to a person. There is for example a proven case in the Netherlands I know of. Denmark is having all its mink (in mink farms) killed in phases over the next few weeks. We're talking several 100 thousands of mink. Over the last few weeks there were many mink to mink contagions on various breeding farms. Denmark has the largest mink fur export industry worldwide.
Other animals that by now have been proved to be able to contract COVID include domestic and farm animals like dogs, cats, cows, pigs and rabbits. There haven't been reports of them infecting humans.
nice story for a change

It's raining local and national lockdowns in Europe atm. We'll probably be seeing quite a few national lockdowns around the Christmas holiday period to keep people from infecting each other.
The last sector to remain open here will be schools for 12 to 18 year olds. Agreements between the national board of education and the unions back in May came up with infection number limits for the restriction of school visits. It turns out these numbers were reached a month ago but the board has refused to abide by the deal. We're all still teaching, for full groups in full schools. I informed with my union rep about a strike. They tell me there'll be no strikes. Niiiice.
^^LOL I just got an email from my principal saying one of 'my' kids got infected. 5 pupils in tge same group supposedly have a high risk of infection but 'all teachers are expected at school as teaching in front of the class is considered low risk'. I have received several of these mails by now, for various classes. Great.
Great nation of Belgistan broke two records today : more hospitalizations than at the height of the first wave and the new number one in Europe for infections. In your face, Czech Republic! Says our government : could be serious, here are some restrictions we'll start applying in four days. Who needs a war when you've got a government like that. Somehow I think politicians still don't understand the basics of exponential growth.
It's been raining national lockdowns : Ireland & the Czech republic last week, France & Germany come Friday. the second wave is at the cusp of getting bigger than the first one in Europe right now. Spain is struggling. Some countries like Greece are still doing okay though.
There have been riots in the major cities in Italy over the last week or so because of new stricter rules due to COVID

Looks like the UK is going into lockdown for a month after the recent spike in cases.
China flu has been nowhere near as bad here as it has around the world but in my state when this shit first popped off they put in some bullshit lockdown and said only essential services would remain open for work and then like 80% of businesses were named as essential services lol so apart form industries that got shut down like the bars and tattooists and all the office people that could work from home nothing really changed in that regard.
That's recognizable lol. I was just reading an article on furniture businesses asking our government to qualify them as 'essential' since DYIs centers and gardening DIYs are allowed to remain open during the new lockdown "and they sell furniture too, it's dishonest competition" lol. Those other businesses were allowed to remain open because most Brlgians have a severe gene deficiency that does not allow them to simply sit the fuck down on a sofa and enjoy the silence. People always seem to be renovating their homes.
Btw since a lot of businesses will close round here starting Monday EVERYBODY AND THEY MOMMA went shopping on Saturday and a lot of shops, hair salons etc are opening today (Sunday here right now), which they normally don't. I guess everybody wants to go out, stand in line for 2 hours plus with some strangers to buy a blowy dragon shirt and catch a side dish of delish Chu Flu.
During the previous lockdown the government opened the recycling depots after a few weeks because people had been renovating their place again for the umpteenth time and then dumping their surplus building materials or waste outside at night. There were old sofas and empty paint cans etc everywhere in the streets.
For the first three days of the reopening of those recycling depots there were lines of three to four hours at every depot. People got out of their cars to talk to each other since they got bored. Of course contamination numbers spiked again.
by now there have been 214 confirmed contaminations in Denmark of the new mink COVID strain. scientific research has by now proved that this strain is different from 'regular' COVID in that the virus seems to have adapted in mink to mink contaminations. it has changed its receptor ends that latch onto human cells. the result is that this strain might be less susceptible to the vaccines that are being developed now by various pharma companies. it is therefore extremely important to contain this separate contamination strain
Denmark is still in the process of killing all its fur farm mink. there's 17 million of them so it takes a while
earlier the Netherlands and Spain killed off (some of their) fur farm mink
here's a read on it
https://newseu.cgtn.com/news/2020-11...bwI/index.html
the number of 12 people infected mentioned early on in the article above does not seem right (?), I have encountered multiple sources saying 214 infections, 200 of them in North Jutland (Danish province) where there is a large number of mink fur farms
all the results so far of the ongoing third (= final) phase of Pfizer & BioNTech's vaccine testing protocol point to it being 90% effective
they're aiming at 100 million vaccines by the end of this year, 1.3 billion by the end of 2021
nice to get some good news for a change
