i need that wallpaper in your sig vay727 pls
here you go
http://fc23.deviantart.com/fs26/i/20...by_duss005.jpg
are you reading incognito? it's my new favorite comic right now lol. and uncanny x-men has finally stopped sucking so much
im reading Incog. pretty good, and idk about Dark Avengers....
yo i didnt realize u had a Marvel version in ur sig now...that is fantastic...rivals the Alex Ross X-Men poster i got in my room.
ya 500. and idk,,,seems like Bendis is in over his head here.
that 500 cover is a dope piece except storm looks a little bloated and the light sources are kind of weird.
and bendis needs to realize he can't write mystical or sci-fi stuff and stick to crime/espionage and ultimate spider-man of course...the spells he had doom and morgan saying were embarassing...give me the cheesy rhyming shit from the 60s-70s over 'afrika bamabaata intifada' repeated 5 times...he writes doom terrbly too...even the art was off...it's been a while since i was so pissed after buying a comic...and the fact that he has so much control over marvel is annoying too...dude was consulting on the thor movie...has he even written thor at all other than the 2 seconds he was in secret invasion?
eloels^^ ya thats sad about the Thor thing...idk, i was more upset at buying the Dark Reign one shot.
HAHA, wow.
damn.....
yeah i thought Dark Avengers 2 was gonna be a epic piece, and X men 500 well again i thought that was gonna be epic.....but they were both just mediocre....
eloels ya i dont remember 500 being good at all, just loved the covers..all of them.
^^^did yu get the dodson one of the females?
ad nakhi, i'd say uncanny's been mediocre since the intergalactic stuff ended.
X men in general has been so boring post Complex. Save Cable, which i still sort of like.
and no i got the Ross one, but i was gonna get the one with the females.
i got the ross one, and my girl got me the dodson one because she's a rogue fan (who wasn't even in the issue lol)...the writers suck now and seem to not want to do anything with some of the more popular characters (psylocke, gambit, rogue, nightcrawler, etc) wrote out kitty pryde, made bishop a villian. that whole 'no new mutants' schtick has ruined the books. the creative direction is terrible, all they seem to focus on is cyclops and emma frost.
dodson's art makes me still check it, but the books are the worst they've been in a while...they never really recovered after grant morrison left in my opinon.
anyway, this cover's the shit:

ya it is^^
yeah I got a few banners made with Rogue in them...

gambit and rogue are back in legacy right now..
is character assassination any good at all?
^^^legacy is dull though (who really wanted an xavier series?) and the art is bland (and i loved carey's run with bachalo and ramos).
character assassination is alright, the spider tracer killer plot is the best part in my opinion (they must've been watching 'the wire') it pales in comparison to 'new ways to die' though.
agree with the spidey shit.
what did you all think of final crisis?
disliked it mostly. Im slowly building up a hatred for mini series and blockbuster arcs.
no doubt. final crisis is the last dc "megaevent" they got me for. (except the green lantern stuff)
i guess im in the minority when i think marvels events have been pretty entertaining for the most part. i liked all i've read except for world war hulk, witch started strong but lost steam towards the end.
^^^i re-read final crisis with superman beyond and batman last rites in one sitting, and think it's brilliant lol, and i thought it was garbage reading it month-to-month. (His Batman stuff reads much better this way also) But Grant Morrison's an acquired taste and I've been a fan for years.main_man, you should check out the first Annhilation series; it was my favorite Marvel event of the best few years (Messiah Complex is up there too)
oh, and KZA, i peeped the Legacy issues with rogue and they're pretty good. Hopefully, the title ends up being about her and Gambit as is the rumor.
see, i really liked civil war. it was the writers statement on the patriot act. i just thought it was an all round good idea that was told well. and secret invasion was just all out old school mega battle comics. a fun read with what i thought was a great ending.
ya Civil war was the best for sure out of the ones i mentioned...especially art wise.
goddamnit, Daniel Way is fuckin brave...see the retcons hes pullin in origins? btw..Doug Braithwaite is a very good penciller.
^^^what's going on in origins?
and doug braithwaite's been that dude since he was drawing the punisher back when i was in grade school
and what's worth buying this week? was at the office all day so i didn't make it to the shop and probably won't tomorrow (manager at a collections agency so you can imagine we're swamped right now lol)
Thunderbolts^^ for sure
and as for Origins, basically, Nick Fury approached Logan at a bar and told him that his son had just taken over the wolverine role. yap yap yap, Nick Fury pretty much tells Logan that all the people named howard in his past are related...to him (mother, previous bosses, professor who fitted him with the adamantium..etc) The howard family have apparently been like puppets to romulus.
^^^hudson family...this was hinted at earlier in the series...i read it at the shop; they've made his origin too incestuous and convoluted at this point for my taste...I liked it better when he was mysterious and there were just islated bits known (weapon x, silver fox)
new avengers 50 was a fucking rip-off...5 bucks for this? i've got every issue of this title ad i've never enjoye a single issue lol...i want to like it, realy, the art is consistently brilliant and i love the characters, but bendis has not put together an interesting story yet...it's all too linear and simplistic, and the hood and his band of z-list villians? again? really? at least the art was pretty.
and my shop didn't have thunderbolts...sunuvabitch lol
I have the digital bootleg version if you need to read it.........
the new avengers art was good save the page that was done by Andy Lanning (i think it was him) that shit was fuckin terrible.
http://i42.tinypic.com/f8cx1.jpg
funniest shit I seen all day
^^^lol; I bought the first issue of that with doom and the sinister six and wasn't into it, too cheesy.
thanks anyway, but I'm getting thunderbolts after work from another shop (I think I'm switching back to trade paperbacks since my shop keeps burning me on pulls)
madame xanadu was good this week too; you guys should check it out.
which page was that? I liked the spidey one the best, mcniven drew spidey like mcfarlane right there. I didn't like the wolverine one or the cage on as far as the writing went; cage was written like a dick, and wolverine was written like an idiot (kill! kill! i don't know who this guy is! kill! kill! since when is wolvie dumb? they need to go check how claremont wrote him--- this was almost as bad as when whedon had his thought process in a fight as 'i like beer') the ms marvel page looked pretty but was incoherent.
i dont know, a lot of critics pan new avengers but i gotta say, they are probably my favorite super team since mid 80's- early 90's x men. they are always outpowered and outnumbered, but they make it work. and the personalities on the team are so different it makes for an interesting dynamic.
i guess never being a fan of the glossy, jla-like avengers. i just really, really like the underground vibe new avengers has. and spidey on a team is FANTASTIC. he's great in that book. i hope iron fist sticks around.him and cage have always been personal favorites.
and i just like bendis' writing. he's been spreading himself thin latley. but i truly enjoyed new avengers #50. was it too expensive, yes. but marvels been pulling ho shit for the past couple months anyway.
^^^ya but thor 600 was 5 bucks 2 and they threw in back-up stories and reprints of classics to make it worthwhile. plus strasczysnki is a much better writer than bendis.
trust me, i use to be fan of dude; torso, jinx, sam and twitch, hellspawn, ultimate spider-man, alias, daredevil...he can be a great writer when he wants, i just don't think his strengths lie with sprawling superhero epics, to me he always fals when he tries. i agree he writes a good spidey, he always says at least one lol thing every issue, and he has seriously invigorated cage. i just think the stories have been too simplistic...compare it to the classic claremont x-men where there was always subplots and character arcs and this comes up really short. i guess you can count the skrull stuff and the doctor strange stuff as long running subplots but i'd say it's just drawn out. i'm sick of shit taking twice as long as it needs to. give me over-compressed over decompressed all day.
to me this team is much more jla-like than it has been in the past considering it includes spider-man and wolverine. wolverine really shouldn't be in the book; i don't mind him, i like the character, but it really makes no sense for him to be here.
the art has been saving this book, it's the only reason i've continued to buy it.
andy lanning did the ms marvel page...and ya Mcniven had the best guest page.
