8 Diagrams is better!!
My least favorite Clan album, but it's still dope. Solid 4/5. Track for track, it would deserve a better rating than that in my opinion, but the album lacks cohesiveness. Sounds like a compilation from various Clan solo albums put together and then called an album.
I would say that main difference between iron flag and the w is that iron flag does not have some stand out tracks like i can,t go to sleep or careful on w, but overall it is more complete and every track is listenable while on w you have some prety shitty stuff like conditioner.
I think that Iron Flag is a nice album, and a nice listen, with only two bad tracks, Soul Power and One Of These Days
One of These Days has a shitty beat....would be better remixed.... some Bronze soul samples and voila.... a wu-banger
the only tracks i dislike are soul power and dashing
I only disliked Soul Power and Chrome Wheels, I actually liked this album more than the W, I thought the tracks were doper, but it didnt have a cohesive feel/ concept like the W did
Meth and Gza owned Iron Flag, great album to blaze to
Chrome Wheels is wack - Bob Digi doesn't belong on a Wu album.
Iron Flag (the track) is HOT, beat is fire, i would have loved the whole Wu to spit over that as like a Triumph MKII, beat is wasted because the song cuts short.
1. In The Hood - 5/5 - classic
2. Rules - 4/5 - slammin' - definite satisfaction
3. Chrome Wheels - 3.5/5 - dope
4. Soul Power - 3/5 - good, worth checking out
5. Uzi (Pinky Ring) - 5/5 - classic
6. One Of These Days - 4.5/5 - superior
7. Ya'll Been Warned - 5/5 - classic
8. Babies - 5/5 - classic
9. Radioactive (Four Assassins) - 5/5 - classic
10. Back In The Game - 4.5/5 - superior
11. Iron Flag|The Glock - 5/5 - classic|5/5 - classic
12. Dashing (Reasons) - 4/5 - slammin' - definite satisfaction
13. The W (International Bonus Track) - 5/5 - classic
overall: 4.5/5 - superior
Definately the best album...
outside of 36 and forever of course.
This is a street album, not a dark and gloomy one like the W.
you can't really hate on it unless all you want to hear is dark shit.beats are mostly all upbeat and lyrics are crazy.
Rae and Gza still spit wit feeling, not like now all laid back.
The only thing missing is a skit or two(or maybe not) 9/10
Whaddup, whaddup
good but in my opinion "The W" wuzz better.
1.In The Hood - 4/5
2.Rules - 3.5/5
3.Chrome Wheels - 2.5/5 (should have been on a Bobby Digital release instead)
4.Soul Power - 3/5 (does this track really need Flavor Flav?)
5.Uzi - 4/5
6.One Of These Days - 4/5
7.Ya'll Been Warned - 4.5/5
8.Babies - 3/5
9.Radioactive (Four Assassins) - 4/5
10.Back In The Game - 3/5
11.Iron Flag - 4/5
12.Dashing (Reasons) - 2.5/5
13.The W - 3/5
I'm sorry but I was never feeling this album. It sounds too polished for me. And some of the lyrics seem a bit simple (just my opinion of course!), perhaps it was all a little too rushed??
In The Hood - 3.5/5
Rules - 3.5 /5
Chrome Wheels - 3.5 /5
Soul Power - 5/5
Uzi - 5/5
One of these days - 2.5/5
Yall been warned - 4.5/5
Babies - 5/5
Radioactive - Hated this beat - 4.5/5
Back In da game - 3/5
Iron flag - 5/5
Dashin - INS also killed this one - 5/5
The W - 5/5
Overall : 56/65
Yeah I really appreciated this one. It's a sad album, really a winter feeling. I don't whih one is better IF or The W. I don't why so many people don't like this shit, it's dope.
I only liked 4 songs on Iron Flag which was In The Hood, Chrome Wheels, Soul Power, Ya'll Been Warned. Terrible album and i was disappointed. I do like the album pictures.
No love for Rules, Uzi & Iron Flag?
Rules song is ok but i was very disappointed in the album because of the beats. It's really sad that Wu Tang hasn't made a good group album since their first classic album. I won't be buying their new album but i'll be a fan for life. I definitely put Wu Tang in my top 5 favorite rap groups of all time.
Babies, Iron Flag, The W and Ya'll Been Warned are great tracks. Uzi is dope, Radioactive is sick, Dashing is nice. if you take the best tracks on here and put them with the best tracks of The W, you'll probably have the third classic Wu-Tang album.
I disagree. Iron Flag wasn't that good. It was decent.
Well, it doesnt matter because you're "done with Wu Tang as a group anyway after 36 Chambers, but they're still in" your "top five best rap groups ever"......
Iron Flag dropped sixteen years ago today. Still not a fan of it, but it had it's moments..
Love this album. A classic to me
I'd vote average. 5/10

I'm reading an old french magazine from 2001. First time I see Iron Flag named like this.
Wu War 2?
Crazy to see Iron Flag getting as much hate as it gets while at the same time The W & 8 Diagrams get praised like they're classics. For me there's clear issues with all of the albums post 36 chambers, and it grew with each release. Even Wu Tang Forever suffered from it. By that I mean: more solo / duet tracks, more reliance on big names and singers where Tekitha or Blue Raspberry could've done most of that, less time in the studio together which is obvious in some of the songs and how thematically and energetically the vocals do not match, but the most obvious one is of course the beat selection, mixing and just production in general. This doesn't even take into account they had all their struggles and beefs, leading to certain members being almost completely absent while others dominate the album to the point where it's almost an album from a sub-group with other Wu members as features (a la Wu Massacre).
For me this album is 3rd best of all-time behind 36 chambers and Wu Tang Forever. It has 7 dope ass tracks in:
- In the Hood
- Rules
- One of these Days
- Y'all been Warned
- Babies
- Back in the Game
- Iron Flag
Then Dashing and Radioactive are actually solid lyrically and flow wise, but the production for the latter and the chorus for the former are highly questionable and take both tracks from a 8 to a 6/7. Uzi is not my forte since the flows are all over the place, but I like what they intended to do beat wise and I appreciate switching things up so that makes it listenable. The only 3 tracks that are shit to just hot garbage are Chrome Wheels, Soul Power and Da Glock, which I'm not even sure WTF is going on and is clear to me was just a dumb ass experiment with those voices and what not. 8 or 9/13 tracks being in rotation for me might be the highest percentage wise of any Wu-Tang Clan group album.
Solid 8/10 album for me.
Retroactively looking at Iron Flag, it has not aged as well as W and Eight Diagrams, the weaker songs on W and Eight Diagrams got better as time has gone by, but the wack songs on Iron Flag are still wack..
