but allred's an art god for me from x-force/x-statix (as well as his issues of sandman and fables, and look for his brother power the geek one shot it's pretty good) i wish they would put out an omnibus of x-force...what a genius run
hes my fav. artist for sure...i find him to be a genius in general...but as for what i mean about his religious outlook...he seems to exhibit a very free thinking, almost agnostic view of life thru the eyes of Frank...seems odd that hed tie himself down to a religion.
^^^i really need to start getting the madman stuff, everytime i come across his artwork i just marvel at how elegant, clean and retro it is...his wife deserves alot of credit too
she does, because apparently he cant see a certain group of colors or something....in any case...yes the art is like..idk, i personally think its unbelievable how well he can convey emotions and gestures...crazy.
^^^yes he's very good and facial expressions and body language...other artists on his level imo would be like paul pope and darwyn cooke...plus he draws funny/awesome looking monsters and robots...his aesthetic is very good, usually the pop-art type guys are the ones who get a good reaction from my non comic reading friends (especially girls) when i have some books just laying around on a table or something in my apartment.
pope is a bit more abstract..but absolutely...hes good too.
^^^you should check out darwyn cooke's stuff too...the new frontier, batman ego, selina's big score, and that new parker the hunter graphic novel...he's one of the best imo

i bought the absolute edition of new frontier a few month ago, and my dad saw it and wanted me to let him have it lol
allred, pope, and cooke (as well as damion scott, jordi benet, and others) did issues of the dc series solo...a dude who goes to my shop had a complete set of that series bound in a hardcover and was trying to sell it to me for a 100 bucks...which i almost did because i can't find those anywhere but fuck that lol

am i the only person buying wednesday comics? i'm loving this shit...what a superb collection of artists here. paul pope, michael allred, brian stelfreeze, kyle baker...4 bucks for a newsprint rag seems steep but it's really worth it.
artistically dc is the only one I find on point right now.
