Eto'o might not play against Croatia as he is said to be slightly injured. Croatia will definitely win this game. Mexico-Croatia will be a really good game a few days later, I think.
Best goalie so far in this tournament : Ochoa! You can tell he is desperately looking for a new team since Ajaccio (France/Corsica) is forced to leave League 1. A good motivation, it seems. Brazil-Mexico was an enjoyable fast paced match. I wish the Belgians played this fast!
The Russia-South Korea 1-1 draw is of course good news for the Belgians ; it is in fact all we were hoping for from this match. I did not get to see the game, but from what I gather from the several analyses I read the Koreans were quite tired in the last 20 minutes. This surprised me since they are known as a very physical team.
The fact both goalies screwed up is reassuring for the Belgians' future matches. Russia's chance in the next match (Russia-Belgium, Sunday) is our left back defense. Vertonghen is an excellent defender, but not in his typical position on the national team. The problem is Belgium has no really skilled left backs at all. I'm sure the Russian coach has noticed this issue as well upon analysis of Belgium-Algeria. Belgian coach Wilmots may want to consider bringing in a defensive midfielder on the left position to help out Vertonghen against the Russians.
Lots of star players aren't really bringing the heat so far. Fred, Hulk, Eto'o, Sneijder, Hazard, Messi, Ronaldo, ...

The only real superstars who have shown what they're made of are Benzema and Neymar. (But still many games to come, of course.) Too bad Ribéry and especially Falcao couldn't make it to the tournament.

Netherlands have never defeated us. It's a shame Franjic and Miligan (as much as I hate the cockhead) are injured. McGowan isn't a fullback and will get targeted. If we can avoid stage fright like against Chile I think we can do okay against holland. Or get fisted 0-6, either way.

Sneijder hasn't really been a star for a while. Maybe in Turkey.
I think it's a common thing for the stars to not really shine on world cups. It's such a different game and everyone has to adapt. Different playing style with every game instead of the competition they're used to.
Sneijder's been quite bad in Turkey as well. He only got a little better towards the end of the season and i think that was due to the fact that he might not have made the national team, so he upped his game.
When he first came to Galatasaray he was being played on the left which was just daft. Mancini made him a number 10 again but to be honest playing on a bad team in a bad league isn't gonna get him far. He just went for the money. Which says a lot about his mentality at this point in his career.
You saw in the first game against Spain 2 clear cut chances which he missed. Sneijder of a couple years back would have buried them. He is not the same, but form is temporary class is permanent so he is always capable of pulling off something special.
As a Inter fan I watched Sneijder week in week out for 2 seasons, he is a great player but he plays with zero heart, maybe for the national team it is different.
