That goal wasn't offside. Fucking refball.
Bosnia were stitched up in this game. Feel so bad for them.
side note I just found out today that Mario Balotelli might play for Arsenal next season. ^O^ sucks though cause I just bought his ac milian jersey yesterday online.
Everyone focused on the hands, Emenike's leg clipped Spahic's knee. Spahic fell over because of that. Really tight so difficult decision to make. However don't know why the Bosnian manager didn't start with the same left back who started the Argentina game, Kolasinac. The guy did a really good job against Argentina and would have handled Emenike much better than Spahic did.
Doesn't change the fact Bosnia still got shafted by the linesman. Playing in such humidity going 1-0 would have been huge. You saw in the last half hour of the game the Bosnians just had nothing left in the tank.
ghana and iran deserved to win yesterday.
after origi scores, lukaku wont be titular anymore
Well, this is exactly what our most famous soccer analysts were discussing on TV right after the match. Four out of five agreed with you, the other guy made a good point, too. He said, 'Keep Lukaku on as a titular just for the last group game against South Korea, which is of lesser importance, so he can build confidence. That way he is still motivated for the eighth finals and we need all the strikers we have.'
Belgium's first 30 minutes were good, lots of great actions by midfielder Debruyne (much better than in his first game, mainly due to his different position on the field) and striker Mertens, who is my favorite Belgian player. However (and to my surprise) Mertens was nowhere to be seen in the second half. He faded away completely. Maybe the coach was right after all : this guy is a supersub and not good enough to last a whole match. I dunno... He plays full games in Italy excellently.
Obviously Belgium's second half was terrible, the Russians put the pressure on and had same good chances. Capello should have brought in his star striker Kerzhakov earlier, but I guess he was happy with a draw, which I think shows lack of ambition.
Anyway, the game turned around again in the last ten minutes, where Hazard finally (for the first time in 2 games) showed his class. The players who came in (Mirallas and Origi this game) made the difference.
Our stronghold : so many good 'benchwarmers' who can make a real difference. Our weak spot : sloooow playing and imo a lack of courage.
I thought the Russians played in a well-organized way. Capello of course is a pro. But I think he's going to regret not having put Kerzhakov to good use in the first batch of games. Hopefully for the Russian team he'll make Kerzhakov a titular for the last group game.
Everybody enjoy US-Portugal!
Vamos portugal!! Time to destroy usa!
South Korea - Algeria was an awesome game, Algeria played some great football. South Korea was nowhere to be seen in the first half.
Belgium did what they had to do, boring game. Russia were typically Capello. With Belgium I don't think the team is used to playing with such pressure and playing as the overwhelming favourites. That might be getting to them, sometimes they look really tame and can't seem to get their midfield going at all.
Now for Portugal, what the fuck is wrong with Portugal? Absolutely awful, the squad is terrible. It really is Ronaldo on his own with Moutihno running about. The rest of the team is really bad. They are really lucky to be in it, they have been terrible so far. They need to knock in a couple of goals against Ghana and I don't see that happening. If Ghana play like they did against Germany they will shred this Portugal defence.
With the USA they played well, organised and hard working. Going forward they were good, defensively massive problems though, they will need to fix that against Germany. The Germans will open up that defence no problem, thats if of course they actually try to. Draw works for both teams.
Spot on, as usual.
For decades the Belgians have been underdogs in international soccer games. Now they've finally got the quality, but not yet the confidence. Since they will play against even more highly estimated teams starting in the eighth final, this problem should be resolved as the Belgians do not have to play the part of favourites any longer.
Lukaku needs to play against South Korea, he is perfect for Belgium, but really looks lost
He could regain his confidence that way. Funny thing is, he was really good in the games leading up to the World Cup. He's collapsing under the pressure ; it would be different if he didn't feel he had to fill in for / live up to Benteke (currently injured, not participating in the World Cup).
USA where unlucky.
