So am no expert in Association Football, so can someone explain to me how come if the game is to end at the ninety minute mark it does not, but goes on for like another five minutes?
I think you're referring to extra time. It is added for the time loss during the game itself, for instance when a player got injured and the game was stopped for a short while. One of the referees on the side line holds up a sign around the ninety-minute mark showing how many extra minutes are played.
yes so rather than stop the clock like in normal games they keep the clock running and the ref guesses how much time should be added, and the fans guess when the game is going to end. It's a lot of guess work.

The clock doesn't stop during the game like it does in a lot of sports so when there's other things happening and time wasting it gets made up in injury time. Only slightly though there's usually only a few minutes each half when there's a lot more time spent not playing football.
Lol @ normal sports stop the clock. The clock keeps going in football because there's no stupid time outs like American sport
Cant believe Switzerland missed that chance right at the end. fucking hell. To add with the Swiss team, its like more than half the team is Kosovan. Always funny when incredibly racist European nations have teams filled with immigrants.
I hope the US loses so Obermann will stop talking about soccer every night.
Noel had mentioned that the obesity rate in Australia is sky high also.
It would be better if they stopped the clock instead of the ref making an estimated guess of extra time to add on. Plus they shouldn't be allowed to celebrate for like 10-15 mins after a goal is scored, while the clock keeps running.
