The Weeknd

The Weeknd actually started out with a similar sound to Drake but now hes mostly upbeat, 80s stuff unless hes featured on rap songs so I don't hear a big similarity to what Drake or Travis are doing now.

When people complain about new music I like to mention all the studies that show most people stop listening to new music (or new styles of music) in their 30s. People either just get too busy to keep up and can't catch up or get stuck in their comfort zone. It has little to do with the quality of music or even personal preference and a lot to do with age.

Its not true of everyone, but its something that comes up a lot on music forums so it gets old.

There's a lot of new music I like, just not this new rap. There's very few newer rap artists that I can enjoy. I am old, but you're not special, stop trying to be hip Sha. =p

Haha. I'm not trying to be special, I listen to a lot of old music too and those are my main influences as a beatmaker but I'm always fascinated by what the new artists are doing.

What new rappers do you fuck with then?

They're not that new and not many.

There's Tyler, RNP, Bronson, Saba, of course Kendrick and Cole to name a few. None of that mumble rap or tik tok rappers....
