has anyone read earth x? or its sequels? worth buying?
hmm...Tony Daniel is treading in liefeld territory with some of his recent art..eloels.
does morrison have a joker book?
azzarello and moore are the only ones whove done better stories on him.
no strictly joker books
shame...
B&R was pretty good, one of the few books i stay waiting for.
DD was eh... good but not an exciting issue... just the end was ill.
anywun reading Mighty Crusaders?
wouldnt want him to do a just joker book...his work with joker in batman has been excellent so far..because its in small doses..making each appearance more powerful
^ya, he writes the best joker i've ever read.
what is mighty crusaders?
isnt that like archie comics property?
not that im aware of ^
its under DC:

they brought em back from way back then... just a 6 parter.
Also, i recently read Arkham Asylum: Living Hell from '03 i think...
It wasn't great - idk, i was kinda hoping for a darker story so maybe my opinion was a little swayed... i been diggin in the baty crates for a grimey story.
^I thought it was great until they brought in Etrigan and made it a supernatural story...the art/color was quality, but it was ultimately kind of disappointing.
For diggin in the batman crates, I would recommend looking through 'Batman: Legends of The Dark Knight' back issues at the shop, there's a lot of good shit there that hasn't been collected...a lot of shit too though lol
check out batman : the cult if you havent already, poetic wun.
its a pretty dark batman story from the late 80s-early 90s. 4 part prestige format series.
it even has jason todd as robin with a big ass .357 revolver.lol
^that one was pretty dope, and jason todd had a good showing, but i think batman was brought down a little too easily...plus, it seems like it was heavily influenced by 'dark knight returns'
'ego and other tails' by darwyn cooke is awesome also.
batman: gothic is another good one, morrison's first work on the character
Anyone seen that Avengers animated movies? Are they any good or are they made for a younger audience?
^they was aight... not bad but not at the levels i had anticipated. i still watch the first one every now and then... 2 wasn't my steez.
wasn't this like a 200pt series or something? i can't remember now
Cooly
thanks for the recommendations
i'll check these out... i never strayed too far from detective comics or his title as far as batman goes when i was younger but recently i been in the mood to read something dark from him and i know there has to be something out there.
questions:
what do you guys think of shadowland and the vamp story arc in x men?
also any you dudes seen the new batman superman anime yet.
shit is pretty close to the book
The Shadowland stuff is great in my opinion, I don't know if everyone else shares the same view. It's probably my favorite right now. The X-Men/Dracula stuff sound like it would suck but its actually done very well and I'm enjoying it although i haven't read the side issues.
I do and i don't like Shadowland... DD is my shit... I just think it's trying too hard in a way.
I like seeing this side of DD. It suits him in a way that could have been done better. I think it just moved a little too fast. You don't really get to bask in the depths of this hell... I compare it to how well done batman has been with Morrison and i wish it has the same focus.
I'm watching the Superman/Batman flick... it's awesome, I wish Turner could have done the art, he was my fav artist but i like the art in this too except Supe looks a lil feminine.
Yeah thats probably the one thing i dont like about it, it is moving super fast, i keep having to go back to the last issues to remember what happened. It also doesnt help that I seem to always read the issues backwards. I'm still confused as to what that explosion was. I'm also not too thrilled with the new 'Man without fear'. I was hoping for someone else.
damn i didn't know batman/superman apocalypse was out yet.
shadowland is a hit or miss. I'm still picking up daredevil and shadowland. not too fond of black panther as the next man without fear.
x-men vamp arc is better than uncanny but that's not saying much with gillen cowriting with fraction hopefully it gets better.
omit sucked.
eloels..ya omit wsa shit...too bad, i liked the art. this next arc seems good so far
^Paolo Riveira's artwork was so gorgeous that I was able to almost overlook all the flaws...I thought the writing in Parts 2-3 was decent but it went waaay off the rails, and ultimately was completely unnecessary.
I hate the art in the new story arc though...the coloring saves it.
personally, i always liked the street level marvel guys the most and i always liked the hand ninja clan too, so of course i'm a sucker for shadowland.
that being said, its kinda like siege. the main book is kinda too fast paced and lacks detail. but if you get daredevil and some of the tie ins, it flushes the story out and makes it more enjoyable.
and even though the shadowland : power man series is drawn like shit, it makes me grin to see all the old luke cage-power man and iron fist lame bad guys gang up. cockroach hamilton and josh, his six barrelled shotgun that he talks to. and the return of nightshade, afro puffs and all.
^damn, has nightshade even been a comic since the early 80s? lmfao
we need a proper power man-iron fist series, with misty knight and colleen wing though.
and what's up with black panther being the new 'man without fear'? i guess it could be the cop who became black panther in the early 00s.

sum pretty crazy ink
ok. since both companies are kinda in a lull at the moment, lets have some fun in the wu corp comic thread.
and i say lets talk about inter-company crossovers. since these characters never met or fought, it would be fresh and make for some good storytelling.
so everyone weigh in with any character meetings, fights or whatever that you have thought about or maybe wanted to see.
and not just dc & marvel. any publisher.
i'll set it off with this confrontation.
dr. doom vs batman.
who would win?
damn. now thats a match up i would like to see.
^hmmmm.....batman. no wait, doom. wait, batman.
shit, i don't know.
i have actually had that conversation. that's too evenly matched.
i would give it to doom because he has an army of robots and a time machine, but batman has the 'sci-fi closet' (See JLA: The Ultramarine Corps) and who knows what he has in there.
Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol run is the shit. Up there with Sandman and Shade.
ill have to check it out
Id give it to doom also... not easy to argue with pandemics reasoning. idk id like to think baty has everyone out witted tho...
i was just talkin with my nig the other day and we was debating Abomination vs Doomsday... theyre the only 2 that have bested the strongest heroes in their respective universes hand to hand...
may not be comics altegether but sam fisher vs baty
uh oh with vs topics. does bats have time to plan against doom?
batman > fisher
i would say that if it was a first meeting and batman has no info on doom, he would mistake him for another clown in a mech suit.
then BAM! doom hits him with a spell of some kind, fucking him up. i mean, if victor took panther down as hard as he did, he probably could take batman down as well. (cause black panther is basically marvels batman, right?)
BUT, if bruce does his research, he's got him. thats all batman pretty much ever needs. a little bit of time to come up with 100 contingencies.
but, thats what doom does too. damn. they really are pretty evenly matched. lol
new heroes for hire team book launching after shadowland.
line up in the teaser shows iron fist, elektra, ghost rider, moon knight &..... punisher???
good line up though. i likes.
other cross company match ups:
bullseye vs. deadshot
superman vs. the sentry
and amanda waller vs. black mariah <(very obscure refrence there. lol)
^actually, he was very much marvel's batman in both the christopher priest run and in dwayne mcduffie's ff run where bp and storm were members...dude took down mephisto, magneto, and silver surfer with prep.
yeah, i mean, out of all the candidates panther is the most batmanish of the bunch.
daredevil? nope. matts straight from the ghetto. no money. he's a self made man. no real gadgets either. plus he tells every girl he fucks that hes daredevil.
cap? naw. enhancements and hes a straight soldier. caps too friendly and social to be a batman counterpart.
moon knight? hell no. hes got the money and the gadgets, but hes fucking insane. triple personalities (four if you count moon knight). plus hes a murderer.
t'challa has been a multi billionaire since his birth. has many cool panther themed gadgets. detective skills. superior martial artist. and is a top notch scientist. he also lost one of his parents to violence when he was very young and that became a driving force in his motivations.
i'd say panther is the closest to a bruce wayne that marvel has.
