I'm not a seasoned or experienced cognac drinker and so I didn't know any better than to put it in the freezer. I like ice cold liquor. This is the first time I heard of there being Hennessy etiquette but after reading the responses here I googled up some stuff that got me thinking of how cognac is supposed to be drank.

Same goes for whiskeys and scotch. The only liquors that Ive heard which are acceptable to store in the freezer would be vodka and silver tequilas, and sometimes those shooter drinks like fire and ice.
