wendy rene - after Laughter (comes_tears)
The NIN cover of Dead Souls live at Woodstock 94.
Great version although the sound quality isn't amazing.
pat ,... I'm just gonna be honest here when I say that - I thought all this time Trent wrote Dead Souls. I had the crow soundtrack many times and never even paid attention to that.
wow.
..thats cool .... maybe I might like Joy Division then......
.....after all this time.
One nation, under a groove.....getting down just, FOOOOR the funk of it.
True.
I mean, a lot of covers i've heard before the originals, and thought the same as you.
It's only natural.
And NIN do seem to perform Dead Souls at a lot of their gigs.
It's probably more a testament to the degree to which NIN make the track somewhat their own (although it seems as though Joy Division fans don't see it this way, which is predictable)
But yes, definitely check out Joy Division.
Unknown Pleasures and Closer are almost flawless albums to me.
I thought most of the stuff on early Rolling Stone's records was original material for a decent period of time.
And still don't know what is and isn't original from 12x5, Out of Our Heads and their first album.
And i thought Susie Q was a CCR original until i heard the Rolling Stones version which made me think it was a Rolling Stones original until i found out it was actually written by a guy called Dale Hawkins.
I could go on.
ask me, ill tell u...Mercy, Mercy is the shit huh?
Tis indeed.
Yeah, i could look them all up, but it doesn't really bother me.
I don't really have a desire to listen to the originals anyway.
i dont find it that hard to tell which are OGs and which arent.
yeah , I know pretty much all the other nin covers like suck by pigface and of course queens get down make love. I just never knew that about dead souls.
its funny how you learn something new all the time.
LOL @ a guy called Dale Hawkins. yeah I remember trying to get to the bottom of all those covers waaaay back.
sometimes I used to be choosy about which is better - the cover or the OG.
now I like it all ...

DJ Mix double lp. This has 100 tracks which sounds messy but is just perfect electronica. Well recommended
