hahahahahahaha....i'm waiting on mine in the mail...meanwhile i got the silver surfer omnibus in a trade set up on the marvel masterworks forum for the 'roots of swamp thing' hardcover and the two 'the losers' tpbs

meanwhile, 'x-force' is sooooo fucking good, and ASM is the shit (but my god was the ghost rider back up just horrible all around)...reading 'secret warriors' and 'shield infinity' back to back make me feel like hickman hides his inability to create compelling plots or characters behind cryptic pseudo-intellectualism...it's entertaining for a while, until you realize there isn't going to be an effective payoff...plus i've gotta stop fucking with comics that i can finish reading before i've finished a cigarette.
batman and robin's artwork was boss but the story was uninspired...'detective comics' on the other hand was incredible.
did anyone get the madman special? good shit.
of course, i did and it was boss, i miss Frank eloels.
and for christ cakes, have u read Xombi or not?
nah i missed it and am cursing myself because frazier irving is awesome.
i just gotta say thank you to jason aaron.
for my favorite monthly "scalped".
and i get my fix of "ennis punisher" through him now in punisher max. and now its on some lock down/vietnam shit?? you got my money.
and even his wolverine book is pretty entertaining.
anybody pick up "fear itself"?
not bad. pretty typical first issue event comic. but immonen is the fuckin man.
^i thought the stuff with odin was pretty cool
i just read scalped vol 7, always such a good read...and the art is always well done
kza, which cover did you get for the thor omnibus? i ordered the one with beta ray bill, but apparently i'm getting the one with balder...plus amazon's taking forever to send this thing

Madman Gets 'Wednesday Comics-ized' in '20th Anniversary Monster'

As you may know, Michael Allred is returning briefly to his signature creation, Madman, following an extended stint at Vertigo, drawing I, Zombie. That visit to his spiritual home will take the form of April's Madman All-New Giant-Size Super Ginchy Special. But what is probably news to you is that Allred will follow that up later this year with an auspicious 20th anniversary Madmen project featuring new work by himself as well as Darwyn Cooke, Mike Avon Oeming, Frank Quitely, Matt Wagner and many, many more similarly lauded comics creators. Called Madman 20th Anniversary Monster, the book will replicate the incredible 11"x17" dimensions of DC Comics' beautiful Wednesday Comics hardcover collection.
Allred has previously discussed the Madman 20th Anniversary Monster on his website, but it was in a recent interview with Comic Book Resources that the cartoonist revealed a great deal of information about the project.
By the end of the year will be the biggest "Madman" project ever. Next year is Madman's 20th anniversary, if you can believe it -- it blows my brain to think of how much time has passed! [Laughs] But we are going to celebrate big time. I don't know if you saw the "Wednesday Comics" hardcover collection, but it's an 11x17 hardcover collection of these "Sunday Funnies style" strips that a bunch of us did for DC Comics. I had drawn Metamorpho, written by Neil Gaiman. That made me excited about the idea of doing something similar with my own characters.Detail of Madman 20th Anniversary Monster by Mike Allred (and others)

Allred's list of more than 20 contributors is one that Wednesday Comics editor Mark Chiarello would surely kill to replicate for the next installment of that prestigious DC franchise: Peter Bagge, Kyle Baker, Philip Bond, Al Columbia, Darwyn Cooke, Dave Cooper, Dean Haspiel, Los Bros Hernandez (all three, Gilbert, Jaime and Mario), Teddy Kristiansen, Erik Larsen, David Mack, Pat McEown, Michael Avon Oeming, Peter Milligan, Bernie Mireault, Paul Pope, Eric Powell, Joe Quinones, Frank Quitely, Steven T. Seagle, Jeff Smith, Jay Stephens, Craig Thompson and Matt Wagner.

Madman 20th Anniversary Monster will come with a framing story written by longtime Madman editor Jamie S. Rich, with layouts by Jim Valentino and finishes by Allred. The book will also include an essay by Adam McGovern tracing the history of Allred's generation of creator-owned characters and their influences, which will be accompanied by new illustrations by Allred and Michael Fiffe. Most excitedly for us and for fans of ComicsAlliance's Best Art Ever (This Week) in particular, the Madman anniversary book will feature a gallery of the nearly 200 Madman pinups that Allred has collected over the years.
i got the one with balder. i put free shipping ordered it on the 9th and got it last friday.
what indeed
O.O
Did anyone pick up any free comic books yesterday? Dang, I missed it!:{
I did, nothing good though
whats going down with this MM xmen shit?
and who's fuckin with moon knight?
I wouldn't mind picking up the new Moon Knight but I'm trying to cut down my standing list
i'm fuckin with moon knight, dusk! lol
i have it, but haven't read it yet.
and thor was dope. i think i liked it a little more than iron man. good way to introduce the character to the mainstream. the cap movie has got a lot to live up to now.
my only real complaint was he was without his hammer maybe 10-15 minutes too long. but still a really enjoyable summer flick.
yeah, but its bendis & maleev. of course i gotta check it out.
i just think moon knight (like punisher, ghost rider, and daredevil) works better in isolation away from the other marvel characters, and this 'his new personalities are spider-man, captain america, and wolverine' just seems like a bad marketing ploy.
any takers on that xmen question?
it's MMXI...'The Year of the X-Men'...all of the books are being revamped (x-men legacy is going to have magneto, xavier, rogue, gambit, legion and frenzy as its cast, new mutants is getting a new creative team, etc) or going through big storylines (the upcoming 'schism' miniseries about a change in the x-men's leadership, x-force's 'age of apocalypse' story; speaking of x-force last week...wtf, way to fall off hard lol i hope the decompression in this issue isn't a sign of things to come)
Basically, I think it's just a way of branding and marketing revamps.
i'm debating whether to get the 'Fall of The Mutants' HC...I have the Uncanny issues already and the shit is 100 bucks (63 or so online) and I've never read any of the other stuff.
ya x force blew hard
fcbd was fun. robert kirkman dropped by. i had met craig kyle and jaimie alexander early in the week.
that was the only one bad issue from x-force probably filler to what is upcoming. should have the .1 issue as the 9th instead of that one. magneto would look dope if he had the x-force colors.
well good thing Batman (DC and BM,I) have been fuckin boss still
just read that x-force issue.
jesus, what a way to really fuck up a good thing.
it reads like a story he came up with in 5 minutes while taking a shit.
i paid 3.99 for this???
another couple of those and im gone.
i mean, does he even know these characters at all??? (wolverine & magneto)
so, magneto can kill hundreds of thousands of people, but he cant kill some nazi scumbag who fucked with his family?
so he goes and asks wolverine to do it?
AND WOLVERINE SAYS YES?!?!?!
"oh sure magneto. lets forget all about you ripping the metal off my bones and probably hurting me more than anyone i ever fought. its cool. i'll go murder this guy for you. the puppy dog eyes and please just sealed it."
how amazingly lame.
and im usually a fan of billy tan. his wolverine in costume and other x-force members in costume looked pretty good. but his magneto looked like he just left the blue oyster bar.
if you like this book do yourself a favor and skip issue #9. unless you need some extra toilet paper. fucking horrible shit.
a beastly wednesday, this shall be
I've only read the first volume. Didn't realize they had so much out. Those fictional places in that book are based off of around here where I live. From that first volume I could literally pull people out of that book and match them with their real life counter parts to some degree. It's got some crazy ass stereotypes too.
The truth is stranger than fiction though.
Dude the first volume is probably the weakest one...keep reading...all of the characters end up being well developed; red crow, as unrepentant a bastard as he is, is probably my favorite character in the book
goddamn that issue of x-force was awful...there's like 3 pages of magneto staring off into space and drinking water...and the whole 'sad puppy dog eyes' thing...did the nazi dude molest him or something? magneto being on the x-men after all the shit he's pulled since the 90s even is absurd (i could kind of buy it back in the 80s, but the dude has done some bat shit crazy shit since then, it seems contrived)
still hate the retcon of planet x
i still don't understand wtf happened with that...so that wasn't magneto at all?
actually...if someone could just explain magneto's whole deal from planet x to when he showed up on utopia, apparently ready to give cyclops fellatio, i'd appreciate it.
please DO NOT SLEEP ON SCALPED!!!!!
easily one of the best pieces of entertainment i get the chance to enjoy month after month.
and LINCOLN RED muhfuckin CROW is the man. the wilson fisk of the vertigo universe.
re: flashpoint #1
shit like this is why internet assholes hate event comics...painful and obvious exposition, johns needs to relearn how to setup a story effectively...dropped. i'll probably buy 'secret seven' and that's it.
batman, inc 6 was the shit, maybe reading this and then flashpoint back to back was a bad idea?
from what i understand, they made it so it wasnt magneto at all, it was Xorn but he was i think influenced by the sublime parasite, some bullshit, i was ok with the idea that he was goin nuts cuz of the drugs, ah well
as for the utopia thing i have no idea
and yes, batman inc was sick, im diggin burnham
btw im getting a tatt of grant morrison sitting on the mobius chair, wearing a batman shirt eloels, its part of a trilogy of tats im getting
