If Ali never fought Foreman, Frazier or Sonny Liston, would he be great??? No.

i knew mosley as gonna win but man he looked great doing it man...he looked like he was 25 again.
im wating for marquez vs diaz, that is gonna be a freaking battle right there!
I thought Margarito would win due to him being younger. But then I realized, Shane has always had that style to counter act pressure so he never falls under it. I've always believed Shane would also knock out Floyd Mayweather, and thats saying alot.
Damn I couldn't even see the fight untill Sunday because the suite didn't have HBO. I'm suprised no one has mentioned the plastic found in Margarito's gloves. Cheatin' bastard. Isn't that the same type of plastic doctors put on casts. They dip it in water, then it gets hard as a rock within 30 mins. I hope Cotto gets his rematch against Margarito and shows the world who is the better boxer.
^^ serious??
lol, mosley still won though.
PBF V Mosley????? :P

Former welterweight titleholder Antonio Margarito and his trainer, Javier Capetillo, had their licenses temporarily suspended by the California State Athletic Commission on Wednesday pending the outcome of an investigation into the "plaster-like substance" found on Margarito's hand wraps before his fight last Saturday night against Shane Mosley.

"The temporary suspension will remain in effect until CSAC has fully investigated the circumstances surrounding events at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 24, 2009," commission chairman Tim Noonan said in a statement. "A foreign substance was found by California State Athletic Commission staff in the hand wraps of Antonio Margarito before his bout against Shane Mosley at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The substance found in Margarito's hand wraps is currently being analyzed by the California Department of Justice. An investigation as to whether either licensee violated CSAC rules is ongoing."Noonan said Margarito and Capetillo have been asked to appear at an initial hearing on Feb. 10.
About a half hour before the fight, which Mosley won by dominant ninth-round TKO to regain the welterweight championship, his trainer, Naazim Richardson, objected to the way Margarito's hands were wrapped.
When the wraps were cut off to be rewrapped, officials found what was deemed a "plaster-like substance" in the wraps. Two pieces of gauze, one in each glove, allegedly had the substance on them.
"From what I know, there was a plaster of Paris-like substance in Margarito's wraps and the commission has these wraps under seal and is investigating what kind of substance it is," Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, who promotes Mosley, told ESPN.com. "I'm happy to see the commission realized how serious the issue is and is acting swiftly. We'll see what the outcome will be of the situation."
"Commission staff will have no further comment until such time as the commission makes a final determination of whether licensee actions in this case warrant fines, suspensions, or the revocation of licenses," Noonan said.
Past opponents of Margarito are watching the outcome of the commission investigation with interest. Attorney Pat English, who represents former Kermit Cintron promoter Main Events and Vinny Scolpino, the manager of Joshua Clottey, sent a letter to the commission on Tuesday to alert the panel of their interest.
"We have seen many allegations in this sport and will form no conclusions until the wraps are tested," English wrote. "However, if they test positive for an illegal substance a logical question will be whether the illegal substance was used in other bouts, and we will ask the commissions of the other states where Margarito fought to make appropriate inquiries."
English asked the commission to forward any test results related to the case.
Margarito has twice knocked out Cintron in welterweight title fights when he was promoted by Main Events, the only two losses of his career. The most recent time came in April 2008 in Atlantic City, N.J., two bouts before Margarito faced Mosley.
Margarito retained a title via unanimous decision against Clottey in December 2006, also in Atlantic City. Clottey would go on to later win a world title.

So that boxer retired with a record of 46-0? Was he one of the greatest?
no he was not
He must have been pretty good though to be 46-0, unless he fought a lot of scrubs. lol Didn't he beat Bernard Hopkins?
he can't beat B-Hop in his prime
Calzaghe would've lost to Dawkins in the next year if he continued to fight. I don't even consider him to the boxing hall of fame. He barely beat 42 yr old Hopkins by SD. A fight that I had Hopkins winning because Calzaghe didn't hurt him with those slaps he calls punches. Plus Calzaghe hasn't fought anyone worthy until a couple years ago.
and don't even bring up the roy jones fight, RJJ in his prime would have danced circles around joe
calzaghe was overrated by brits and underrated by americans... he was definitely very good...
he had impressive wins over bika, lacey and kessler when all were supposed to be legitimate threats... plus regardless of who was in their prime he has wins over hopkins, jones and eubanks who are/will be all hall of famers...
you can pick apart anyone's win-loss record... eg 3 of hopkins biggest victories are against smaller guys moving up in weight... trinidad, de la hoya and wright... his other two biggest wins are against tarver and pavlik and their legacy isn't certain...
but at the same time you can say that a lot of people favoured trinidad, pavlik and tarver and hopkins won these matches convincingly... this isn't a knock on hopkins (who is one of my favourite boxers)... i'm just proving that you can pick almost anyone apart... the names joppy, allen, echols and holmes won't be in the hall of fame but were decent boxers who contributed to the executioners impressive record... just like calzaghe has wins over sheika, reid, mitchell and brewer that helped him compile his...
like him or not, 46-0 is impressive...
Calzhage is a great fighter. RJJ ducked everyone until his ass got knocked out by a few bums and he got dominated by Tarver, so its Roy's fault he didn't fight no one in his prime.
Hopkins is a great fighter, but he lost to Calzaghe and both were not young either. If your considering Hopkins great and Jones Jr great and Joe beat BOTH of them, I don't see how you can deny it.
This guy should def. be a hall of famer whether you likehis style or not.
