Why do civil rights groups keep sticking up for Michael Vick?

Martha Stewart's crime wasn't similar to Lil Kim's crime, and neither sentence had anything to do with race. I don't like hearing about Paris Hilton all the time, but she didn't kill or torture any people or animals. I think you got Lindsey Lohan mixed up with Hilary Duff. Those celebrity girls have been in the news a lot lately, and a lot of people are bashing them also, deservedly so.

Though, Micheal Vick tortured and killed a bunch of dogs, and he bet on dogs to fight to their death. I don't think he's public enemy number 1, and like I said, his bashing has nothing to do with his skin color. Not everything in this world has to do with skin color. If another high profile football player had been charged with the same crimes, and he was white, he would be getting bashed just as much as Vick. It looks like Vick is getting off easy, and might not even get much jail time. He's getting bashed cause he committed a serious crime, and he lied to the NFL commisioner and everybody else.

Yeah! Lohan thats the bitch! NEWAYS. I'm sorry guy but I'll have to disagree. Watch Fox News...Hell go on youtube and look up past episodes of fox news regarding vick's case. One ep had a panel of so called know-it-alls talking about the case and if race was a factor. One person was a vick supporter and he named numerious cases of cock fighting and dog fighting rings that were connected to various upper class white folk... << excuse the country drawl can't really help it due to the fact that i'm from georgia...(Georgia you say?) Yeah the good ol GA. Home of the Falcons. Neways I've personally witnessed my fair share of race related legal actions. Two guys are caught with drugs at my high school. One white one black. We never saw Rico again (the black guy) But Chan (the white fellow) Played football the next day. A friend of mine has sex with a white girl she's under age he's charged and we didn't see him until graduation. On the other hand a white guy (who i happen to be cool with) gets caught sexing his underaged girlfriend AT SCHOOL! Yep He played football the next week. So there's no way in hell you can convince me that race isn't an issue in this country or a factor in Vick's case.



Oh yeah and that Lohan girl got in trouble again...they ran the story for like 2 days. Then they did a follow up story about celebs getting off easy and made a reference to Paris...Lasted less than a week.

Oh yeah! (damn i just can't post this and leave huh?) Vick killed a bunch of dogs...White America killed a bunch of native Americans, took their land, bombed Japan, ignored the Jews (Holocaust!), placed embargos on Cuba, help to split Korea apart, supplied Iraq with chemical weapons then accused them of using the weapons, ignored damn near every major African conflict...I mean damn how inhuman can the U.S. Government be? Shouldn't they be the ones on trial instead of pointing fingers....Oh wait...3 more pointing right back at them.

Actually they still give them millions per year, even built them a museum. By the way I miss GA. I lived in Marietta for 3yrs.

I didn't say that race isn't a factor in the US. I only said it's not a factor in the Vick case. I'm not trying to compare the Vick case to a bunch of other cases, and make excuses for him. He committed a felony crime, torturing and killing a bunch of dogs, and betting on their demise. I would expect people to be against what he did, and be bashing him. Is that not logical? Do you think he should not get any jail time? Do you think he should just be given a warning, a slap on the wrist? Vick couldn't even act like a man, and admit what he did. He only admitted he was guilty, when he saw there was no way he could win the case. The NFL is better off without people like Vick. They won't miss him. The Falcons won't miss him. He's an average passer, and way overpaid. Maybe he should grow up for once.

I think I'm gettin off a little. What I'm tryng to say is that lots of people take part in illegal activity white, black, whatever. But it appears that media sources like Fox News hype up criminal acts committed by African Americans...Primarily Hip Hop artist. I mean they found dead dogs at DMX's place and fox news has already decided that he's guilty without proof...a trial or anything. The anchor woman actually said that she hoped DMX is locked up forced to wear a pink prison uniform and a dog collar! come on...Comments made by the media towards these people, guilty or not, seem race related to me.

so your point is that racism exists (congratulations) and fox news sucks... well then welcome to america circa 2000 CE where information is controlled by a few media conglomerates whose sole reason for existence is to increase profits received mostly from other corporate advertisers. if news corp believes more people will read the ny post or watch fox news if they inject some subtle racism into the story then it's their obligation to their shareholders to do so.

that said i don't think the media circus surrounding this case would be any less ridiculous if it were peyton manning, as someone's already said, and anyone who does needs to take off the im-an-oppressed-black-man goggles.
