^oh yea, forgot about that part
part of the the greatness of movies though.
Yo, I gotta see this, the visuals look crazy.
^ You read too much comicbooks. A history of crime fighting does not mean their fighting abilities is beyond man (even the most skillful). I think they should've explained more of their past, instead of using cutaways like family guy.
Another thing I didn't like about the movie was the music score. I"m not saying there wasn't good music in it, but most of the music didn't match the scenes. For example, playing hallejula during the fuck scene, haha serious? All along the watchtower is probably one of my favorite songs, but playing it during an illusional scene didn't make any sense. Overall, the moods of movie didn't match the moods of certain songs.
so......was it a good movie?
^^^so you're saying, for example, bruce lee couldn't beat the shit out 10 thugs with no fighting training just raw energy? the prison fight was over the top, i agree, but it's not unrealistic to expect a trained fighter with years of experience to take down some generic heavies that probably have no proper fighting experience.
and i have to disagree with you on the music choices, with the possible exception of leonard cohen during the fucking scene, but whatever. it's made up for by unforgettable during the beggining scene which was brilliant.
'cutaways like family guy'---really? you do know flashbacks and non-linear storytelling predate fucking family guy, not to mention the graphic novel was written in 85-87.
'playing it during an illusional scene'---what does that even mean?
you realize you're nitpicking right?
^^Don't catch feelings because I think you're overrating the movie, but an illusion is a distortion of the senses, revealing how the brain normally organizes and interprets sensory stimulation. Wasn't that the entire point of the movie, especially with Dr. Manhattan. He wasn't having those same senses when he was human? And the ending is the perfect example of this.
The whole thing I have about the crime fighting is no human can do what the watchmen did in that movie. The prison scene which I enjoyed made me laugh underneath because it was so unbelievable. Ozymandias was faster than The Flash, c'mon now. I'm sorry, I just thought it was corny. I have never seen a goofy white boy whoop some ass.
i think your forgetting though that its a movie based on a comic book. nixon was elected president 5 times in the movie. is that any more realistic than two people beating up a hoard of prisoners? personally i would consider that less realistic. but regardless you go to a movie for an escape from reality. dont worry about stuff like how can two people beat up 10 guys or whatever. just enjoy a dude breaking a guys arm and his bone sticking through his skin.
and i think if they explained more of their past the movie would have been 5 hours instead of 3. the only people they dont really go into sufficent detail about their past was the smart guy and the dorky guy. everyone else i feel they either explain why they are the way they out right, or its to be infered in some way.
the only real complant i have heard about the movie is some people not really liking the soundtrack. not that the songs are bad, they just didnt think they all fit. it didnt really bother me, but im sure it could have been done better.
very good. im finding literally 9 out of 10 people really like it. but go into it not expecting iron man or batman you know what im saying.
Yea, the broken arm was a good action part. But i expected more of that from the director. And i think it would've been better if they did made it into 2 movies for several reasons.
For how much i anticpated the movie, halfways through i was irritated, and after seeing the ending i was glad to get out of there, but I'll probably give it another chance when it comes out.
see thats the problem i find with most people who disliked the movie. they expected it to be more like another movie. instead of appreciating it for what it was.
they are making it look A LOT more action like in the commercials no doubt about it. they really want that 18-54 male demographic. but that is the fault of the marketing department, not the actual director or anything.
thats why i told food for thought to just go in with an open mind. dont get any preconceived notations of what this movie should be like. just take it for what is.
the splitting it into 2 movies idea though isnt a bad one. i wouldnt have minded an expanded version. maybe 4 and a half hours worth total, split into two movies. maybe than some more backround could have been explained.
but someone who has read the graphic novel, because i havent yet, correct me if im wrong, the director shot the film almost scene by scene from the comic. like it looks like how the comic looks like besides some small things. basically line for line too to my understanding. so thats where i think people fall into the trap of hearing the director of 300 did it. they want a full movie of badass shit like 300. but it wasnt really his place to add stuff in that wasnt there. he just directed it the way it was written.
it wasnt frame by frame at all, it was very faithful..but for instance, the scene with comedian figting Veidt...wasnt in the GN. speakin of...i know im no the only person who caught the '300' shout out Znyder did...when comedian got thrown against his apt. door.
yea....3001....smash....300. good shit.
ok not frame by frame but there was some parts like that and in the least saying he stayed very faithful is a good way to describe it. for the most part he tried to stay on task.
