2. Felt - 4/5 - Dope. Would have been great if not for some overproduction with those hi hats.

3. We Will Fight - 2/5 - Not feeling the beat. Clan are the clan.

4. Mistaken Identity - 4.5/5 - Back to the dope shit here! Nice!

5. Hold The Heater - 5/5 - Even more dope! Love everything about this one!

6. Crushed Egos - 4.5/5 - Would be a 5 if longer. Too short. Dope as hell!

7. Keep Watch - 3.5/5 - Beat is decent. The mc's do a good job, but Nathaniel brings us the worst moment on this album with that wack ass hook! Doesn't sound right at all for the song. Pretty much ruins this song.

8. Miracle - 4/5 - Sadly, Nathaniel is back on this track. Although he brings even gayer garbage than he did on the previous track, this song is too good for his presence to ruin it.

9. Preacher's Daughter - 5/5 - Lot of hating of this joint going on. don't get it at all. Love it. Dope as fuck imo.

10. Pioneer The Frontier - 5/5 - Vintage sounding Wu shit! Dopeness!!

11. Necklace - 5/5 - 4th with an epic dark beat here!! Dope as hell!

12. Ron O'neal - 4/5 - Dope track overall. Good beat, good verses, wack Nathaniel hook again. This one doesn't hurt the track as much as the previous 2 offerings from this shitty ass Nathaniel cat.

13. A Better Tomorrow - 4.5/5 - Love this joint. Hook is meh. Not as bad as Nathaniel's bullshit! Could easily have been a perfect 5 with a better hook.

14. Never Let Go - 4.5/5 - Another banger here!

15. Family Reunion - 3.5/5 - I like this joint more hearing it on/ending the album than I ever did before. It's a nice ending actually. Not that great of a song though.

was playing this in my car today and it sounds great.

at first I wasn't a big fan of Hold the Heater but second time thru that's a bangin track.

We Will Fight is cool, I don't know why more people don't like it. I thought the chorus was a cool use of like college marching band music. also the hook for Miracle has grown on me

It's like if a rapper went on a rant about how the world is flat, or that the sun revolves around the earth...I like to think Wu is smarter than this. GZA should've educated Popa Wu.

Not sure what you're talking about with that list of countries, but yeah, Wu-Tang Forever gets off to a bad start (and arguably a bad end with the Tekitha solo. Hooks are cool but a whole song? No thanks.)

It should've started with the kung-fu clip at the end of Wu-Revolution, and then Reunited. No other Wu album starts with an affiliate rambling about religion for six, seven minutes, not even rapping.

"B.I.B.L.E." is a good example of a dope "religious" rap song.

Never. Besides his dope verse on Winter Warz when did he outshine or match someone else on Forever, OB4CL or Ironman? The Pillage is alright, dope here and utter wack there and everything elses is forgettable.

Cappadona's biggest problem for me is he fucking boring on the mic. He has the energy of a sloth. He could only have had so much mic presence on ABT because he'd b getting paid the least

LMAO, duds? what duds are on Wu-Tang Forever? The only bs song on there is Black Shampoo (I always stop after Heaterz anyway). That album is damn near flawless. ABT is cool, but nowhere close to Wu-Tang Forever. Just one disc from it alone, shits all over ABT.

“Miracle” is the worst track the Wu-Tang Clan has ever recorded, and it’s not even a close race. A twinkling, schmaltzy hook about (yes) “miracles” descends every minute or so to interrupt a series of by-the-numbers verses. Masta Killa doesn’t even try: “A live scene theme from a Godfather saga / A Martin Scorsese classic and I’m the author,” he begins, before presumably falling asleep in the recording booth. Ghostface Killah’s verse about Ebola and the FDA closes with a transition into a hard-rock, Linkin Park-style outro, a stylistic choice so unconscionably bad the listener yearns to think of it as satire, parody, or gleeful self-sabotage.

It is not, though. Wu-Tang Clan, particularly the RZA, has always mixed absurdity with deadly seriousness. Everything is a code, a signifier pointing to something that perhaps only the RZA himself understands. This is why even something like the preposterous special effects on the “Triumph” video, or Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s proclamation that “Wu-Tang is for the children,” can be read as part of a grand ghetto superhero myth, a story of hip-hop self-actualization to rival Jay Z’s “me, under a lamppost.” ODB may’ve terrified Shawn Colvin to get there, but he was onstage at the Grammys, after all.

A listener, then, needs to take all of A Better Tomorrow’s tiny terrible aesthetic choices very seriously, not because the RZA does—he turned into a self-parody around 2007—but because the entire Wu-Tang story is so self-serious. Where these eccentricities were once paired with music brutal enough to sell them, A Better Tomorrow sounds like Disney Enters The 36 Chambers: Inspectah Deck finishes his traditional album-opening verse with a reference to both The Mentalist and The Big Bang Theory; Method Man draws an unflattering Pusha T comparison over chugging distorted guitars; Mathematics’ beat for “We Will Fight” feels like 2000’s “Gravel Pit” as done by a high-school marching band. Almost every track features a cringe-worthy hook, often by some man named Nathaniel, and the verses feature so many half-assed nods to older lines (“It’s still a cold world,” “When the emcees came, to live out the name…”) that the album begins to feel like what it is: a 20-years-after-the-fact stab at a comeback.

Listened to in sequence, A Better Tomorrow makes sense as the final progression from the Clan’s razor-wire debut into something polished and more hopeful. But as the intervals between all of those records has increased—it’s been seven years since 8 Diagrams, which itself came out six years after Iron Flag—the albums have sounded increasingly estranged from their hip-hop contemporaries. A Better Tomorrow has very little to do with the music of 20 years ago, but it has even less to do with the music of today; it’s completely out of joint, an island of irrelevance forced into being by the labor- and drama-intensive nature of the group. A nine-person crew made every album an event, which manipulated the shrink-wrapped marketplace of the ’90s, but this fussiness doesn’t make sense in the era of the 12-month press cycle and the dead-of-night mixtape release. If there’s a better tomorrow waiting for this group of MCs, it doesn’t involve another album together.

What a load of horseshit. If you can't appreciate the art of Miracle by the end of the track you deserve to be in the McDonalds line ordering a McDouble because that's all you need to be content.

Miracle is like a perfectly cooked filet, sure the plate has some unnecessary garnish but it's a fucking solid beat, storytelling and delivery by the generals.

Solid LP! Nothing ground breaking but was not expecting it to be. Tight production, great mix, stop listening to music thru you tube leaks on your iphone speakers and you might appreciate it more. Love the bass lines, vintage Rza shit, sometimes the drum kick drowns it out (we will fight) but fuck it eq the motherfucker, clans 3rd best lp, grown man shit

I don't really understand hate for Miracle either. The hook is odd, but the verses are fire. What's wrong with the Masta Killa line he quoted? It seems like he wants to say the album is bad, but has to make up reasons to justify that opinion.

Only feeling like 2 or 3 songs, everything else seems boring to me.

Bullshit, most songs have strange energy that don't resonate good on some rappers (Masta Killa and GFK sound good on most of these tho), some of the rappers can't rhyme on beat anymore or lack the energy...and some, like RZA, use too much energy that make him sound not dope at all.

Method Man seems like a dumbdown version of himself, the only two things he still have are his voice and his flow.

Raekwon is the only guy that brought his tools to this album, making him the MVP. I was disappointed by GFK's involvement, he was consistantly one of the more prominent members that shined on every track...

How many songs actually have a topic?

I like how some of the beats change through the song, but I don't like all the beats.

The Run the Jewels (both albums) are probably the most Wu-Tang thing I heard in a while, since OB4CLII probably. I like that shit, but I'm not down with this. Good music on a rap album don't necessarly mean it's a good rap album.... and ABT shows that.

About three more spins and I'll have listened more to ABT than to 8D in the last 7 years.

Those who compare this opus to old wu albums r stupid. But good music is good music. Personally I like other music beside hip hop. As a musician Robert Diggs is average. Today's hip hop is crap, I can't listen to this noise.
As I said, it's a good album no doubt, but not what I expected from them. I don't like the energy of this shit. This album lacks something, the magical factor. This group has a great musical potential but they can not form like Voltron again. Egos, artistic conflicts, stupidity have killed the unity. The last time I felt they formed a group was on "Iron Flag". Before they were like the ten fingers of one hand. 9 Soldiers and the spirit of Voltron. Now they are just 9 motherfuckers with big egos. Bobby was the only guy who really tried to keep wu-tang alive maybe with Meth, Masta Killa or U God. I don't know if they can release another album.

NOT BULLSHIT. I totally agree, it's no 36/Forever (except Pioneer the Frontier) but it shits on everything thats coming out at the minute, who else in the game has dropped an album thats better than ABT lately? The album is far from perfect but has far more substance than pretty much all the bullshit albums that have dropped recently.

Wu-Corp members are the harshest critics.

Pharoahe fucking Monch came in the game before the wu and he still has the hunger to make great, meaningful music. That review is on point. Miracle is not as special as you guys try to make it.

Wu have been a shadow of themselves ever since The W. Every Clan album after Forever has been half assed. So I'm not looking to be blown away by them anymore, judging from that perspective, I'm able to enjoy this album.

Ok there are so many better albums than ABT Wu fell off its a terrible album and so many other rappers have released much better albums this year. Wu-Tang Fornever, do the other supreme albums makers have forums you guys could join? If so do it, why bitch on a Wu site.
