That time of the year again.. (NBA PLAYOFF THREAD)

Gibson and LeBron should rotate on Parker and the Cavs need to stop double teaming Duncan. Z and Varajao are big enough to handle him and if he makes his shots, then so be it. I'd back off of Parker and force him to shoot it. He was making all his layups tho, tough ones too.

Gibson needs to play more....he should be running point cuz the spurs will double team lebron if he is there, and they are good at it. ITs not that Bowen dominated Bron, the help double was excellent. They need Gibson to penetrate and break down the D. They should run pick and roll with Gibson and James, or James and Gooden.

The Cavs D was good. They just need to rebound better. Spurs played classic SA ball, and they hit their shots. The Cavs didn't.

laying off parker is a good idea i think he was 1-9 from outside the paint. cleveland should jus keep him out of the paint.

the Cav's where getting some good stops on the D but they just weren't knocking down enough shots to make a difference. Hughes is obviously hurt so hopefully Gibson will start and play most of game 2. I still think the Cav's could potentially take the series but they better get it together offensively

Ive watched all the Cavs games and trust me, this is what happens when they lose. They dont hit anything and LeBron isnt LeBron. Good thing is, that Mike Brown is pretty good at making adjustments. We'll see...if the Spurs are smart, they won't get too full of themselves just yet...and I don't think they will, thats why Pop is such a great coach..he doesn't kiss their asses after a good game.

As a Cavs fan, I gotta hand it to the Spurs. They are a professional group of guys. I think Cleveland needs to get angry at them and get more physical like we were against Detroit. The Cavs need to get in SA's face. I liked Goodens foul on Ginobli.

Like I said before, the Cavs were awful, but still could have been in it. tHE SPURs played an average game...Parker made some nice penetrations and Duncan was good.

More Daniel Gibson is needed...Pavlovic too. If the Cavs get game 2, that will be huge.

i doubt that, maybe cause bball aint soo popular in croatia or the tv channels couldnt buy the rights to the game as they thought it wouldnt be worth it. i can guraantee its shown in serbia though.

2 bad cavs woke up in the last qtr...

well the cavs got detroyed. at least for the first 3 quarters of the game. they havent been able to do anything against the spurs starting rotation.

they made a game of it in the last quarter but that was against the spurs scrub team. they got it down to 19 and pop put duncan and parker in. they got it down to single digits with about 4 minutes and change left then pop put the whole starting rotation back in and they closed it out.

the cavs can take some positives from that run but not much. the spurs will always let you back in the game. i knew they were gonna make some type of run and dig into that lead, i wasnt expecting them to dig as deep as they did. one of the announcers made a comment about how Pop is uncomfortable coaching with a lead cuz his team loses its edge. he'll no better than to start his scrub team in the last quarter no matter how big a lead they have.

lebron for the most part has been subdued in this series so far. he was however having some success when he started getting aggressive in attacking the basket. if the cavs cant find a way to compete with the spurs starting rotation, this thing is gonna be over by thursday.

This Finals is horrible.

The Cavs are getting pummeled. They have a slight chance to win the series if Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili all get injured.

the cavs cant compete thats all. cavs dnt have an answer for parker duncan or ginobili. wat pissed me off was the fact that in the 1st quarter when lebron got 2 fouls he was taken out the game then after that the cavs broke away. a cavs team with lebron stuggles to keep up with the spurs without lebron they have no chance.

i hope the cavs can even the series they do play better in cleveland, ilgauskas has to step up the guys gotta get scoring.

overall the series has been weak, but its more of a basketball lesson by san antonio then a finals game.

I don't see the Cavs coach making the right adjustments at all. wtf is he sitting LeBron for all of the first quarter for the two fouls? whytf is Gibson on the bench when Hughes is hobbling around like a fuckin pirate? Ilgauskos has no business playing major minutes neither. The Cav's could be competing on a much higher level than they have been. If the coach plays the right players they can still make this a series, we'll just have to wait and see

yeah at the moment its pointless playing hughes, its obvious gibsons got good form and playing with confidence why not give him the chance.

I don't think the Cavs will be able to win in San Antonio, if the series would go back there. Like I said before, why don't they put Eric Snow in the game more often, to play some defense? Where is David Wesley? Have Carlito cut his hair a little, so he can see what he's doing out there. Gooden could borrow some of Carlito's hair, since he only has one patch of hair left.

the bullshit excuse I keep hearing is that playing Hughes is what got you there, thing is, it's not helping now, Parker's just blowing by him. It should be a rotation of Gibson and Snow on Parker all night.....Snow had Tony settlin for jumpshots last night but for some damn reason only played about 5-10 mins.

the thing with varejao is that in this series his flopping aint working, if the man defends properly the cavs defense might get somewhere.

i agree with using eric snow more often i think it was van gundy who said that eric snow needed to be on the floor more cause he was making parker take jumpers.

but i think wat a main problem is the man in the back manu ginobili cause when his on the floor the cavs dnt have an answer. because the guy can drive the lane and he can shoot.

Mike Brown is far from a proven coach. Since he has been here, his defenses are great, but offensively we are horribley coached, and also Brown is terrible with substitutions. Its like he falls asleep. He stays with guys too long and does not match up well during the game. IN the Detroit series, he did a better job, but thus far he has been terrible again.

Case in point, Damon Jones did not play for like twenty or thirty straight games, and now all of a sudden he is back in the rotation. It took him half a year to take Snow out of the starting lineup and put Sasha in. And now he is sticking with a hobbled Larry hughes who is really worthless against parker. He may have been able to hang with Billups, but you have to match up you guys properly. That way, you give yourself a shot at least.

Gibson should be starting...Shannon Brown should have been playing all year. They Cavs desperately need finishers and guys who can stick the mid range J consistently. He came around at the end of the year then disappeared. Same thing with Donyell Marshall. Brown is inconsistent with the minutes.

Look at Snow..he played 14 seconds the first game EVEN AFTER parker was doing whatever he wanted. Ridiculous.

As far as Varajao and his flopping. Yes it works sometimes but he needs to stop. He should be a shot blocking force inside. Drew Gooden is a consummate underachiever. He has flashed of All star ability, but if you have watched him over the years, thats all they are is brief flashes. He can be effective on offense, but his post defense is terrible and he rarely is focused. Same thing for Pavlovic. Inconsistent.

Z is old and can't move...I dont blame him for that. When the Cavs are unbeatable is when they are playing solid D, rebounding well and guys LeBron is feeding are hitting their shots. Personally I think the lineup of James, Gibson, Pavlovic, Gooden and Varajao is the best against the Spurs.

Lebron can run point with Boobie and Sash on opposite wings, and they can run pick and rolls with Gooden and Varajao...Varajao is good going to the hoop, and Gooden is good at knocking down the mid range jumper. I just dont understand why Brown does not see some of these things.

The Cavs are a different team at home. Hopefully they can even it up. The Cleveland fans will be loud and raudy as usual. I think we need to be more physical with Parker and Duncan. They've given Ginobli some good shots. THe spurs are way to comfortable out there. You can get in Parkers head if you put him on his ass hard a few times. Ira Newble's gotta be good for something right?

Thats another fault of Mike Brown...He doesn't 'believe' in that. Its not that your trying to kill the guy or injure him, but shit, this is a mans game and its the finals. Pavlovic is the only guy really who takes it too people.

But this type of game is the reason why I hate when the Spurs make it to the Finals and I usually never watch. As a Cavs fan I was into it, but if I was an unbiased observer, if it werent for LeBron, I would not watch this series, let alon e these games start at fuckin 9 oclock EST

Cleve. deserved to lose that game that's what the ref was thinking. Varejo without a doubt lost that game. I heard someone on ESPN say Tony Parker's shot was the dagger, that's untrue. It would have been, but Pavlovic's corner-3 seconds later made it a game again. That was a bigger shot. The biggest shot was Varejo's trying to scoop it and hitting all glass. C'mon a fucking amatuer knows you kick that ball out to the King and let him handle the rock. But I feel Varejo because I'd of gone with my instincts and tried to be hero too. The Cavs showed poise by not getting pissed at Varejo as though.

This is the problem, I dunno if Big Z Igalskaus CAN'T Play that many minutes because of his legs, but he's GOT To get some second half fucking minutes. Z was killing em in the first quarter. Crowd going nuts, he really bought in to that and he showed his heart by grabbing boards and hitting those fade-away jumpers and shit. Him and James are the Dynamic Duo on that team. I always hear Stephen A. talking 'bout "Where's Zidronis Ilgaskuas" motherfucka where's ya boy LEBRON? I've seen one Cav hit a big time shot this series. That's Palvocic for 3 yesterday.

Can't wait till next year. The Spurs DEFINITLY will not have such an easy matchup in the fInals.

One more thing.. I finally realized that you've GOT TO respect James JUST for being here. LOOK WHO HE BROUGHT WITH HIM. LeBron being in the Finals has made me respect him more as a player. Just by watching last night. But in all seriousness, the Spurs deserved the Heat to at least bring in some viewers.

you cant beat a team when their star players are playing like crap then you dont deserve to be on the same court as that team. if it werent for the spurs shooting so poorly they would've gotten yet another blowout as they got the lead to 10 with like 8 to go, then they went stone cold again.

as far as the call, you're not gonna get a whistle that late in the game. they let the players play, lebron got a good look at a three and he didnt make it. thats how the ball bounces. was he fouled? yes. but unless someone takes your head off you're not gonna get a whistle in that situation. the cavs had many opportunities to win that game throughout and they didnt cash it in.

The Cav's took every facet of that game besides buckets, and a foul's a foul, shouldn't matter if its the last second or within the first minute, bad no-call. period

well whether you like it or not, thats how its called. there are many situations where someone is fouled near the end of a half or a game and it isnt called. and thats how it should be. the players should decide the game, not the refs. its not like bowen was holding on to him when he was taking the shot. he got a good enough look at the shot and he didnt make it. tough cookies.

playing piss poorly the spurs got the lead up to 10 points and then they went ice cold. the cavs had a similar lead in the first half and then they started letting parker penatrate the lane. both teams were shit. it was an ugly game, but the spurs are a great team because they know how to win these type of games in the playoffs.

THe cavs missed a healthy Larry Hughes, just for the steals and he is always good for 14 a game, taking pressure off of James and HItting a few threes. Dont discount that and think Hughes not being in was not a big deal.

The Spurs are good, but they are definitely beatable. The Cavs have not hit a shot all series. You won't beat the worst team in the league like that.

Shaq isnt the same, and Mourning, Walker, Payton are all pretty much done. They will be all Wade soon if they dont find somebody. And thats not good cuz, unlike LeBron, Wade is alot smaller, plays more reckless and is a lot more injury prone.

Yea, why is that? If Detroit should have been there, than they should have beaten Cleveland. LeBron James is probably the best player in the league in terms of all around game, and he is definitely the most dominant, taking over shaqs spot....his supporting cast isn't spectacular, but its not as horrible as it has been reputed to be. Especially with Gibson playing well. Losing Hughes for the series(yes you can call it that) was very tough on the Cavs.

That being said, maybe you should give the Spurs more credit. Just because they play 'boring' basketball doesn't mean they aren't a dynasty, which, they are. Four championships is an unbelievable feat for Tim Duncan. The fact that they play defense first, have quiet stars and play in a very small market non descript city all plays into this.

the big 3 for the spurs all had bad games and the spurs still win??? i dnt think theres much the cavs can do, this game was all about the bench the spurs have more depth in their squad. they worked the ball around and get wide open 3 point shots. in this game they went in, the spurs were poor. i still dnt kno how cleveland lost. it was a poor game, its been a poor series. i hope the cavs dnt get sweeped because they have had a great season they dnt deserve to go out 4-0.

and the spurs they are just a great team, they win games, every player does his job they do what the coach tells them to do. they have been the best team since the bulls era.

Like has been said, the Cavs had their chance to win that game in the 4th, but they missed big shots, including LeBron. I don't see the Cavs being in the finals next season. I think some more teams from the East will step up.
