i sit here and cant wait for the madness to drop,lolllll...ive never been more excited about the return of a rapper to his top form again
info from Pro the Leader:
"We will be putting out another American Poets 2099called Pro's lab 3 that will feature Dom Pachino, Canibus, Killah Priest and C-rayz Walz on over half the album and of course Holocaust."
Get ready, should be interesting again.
Holo was at his peak on Holocaust and the Killarmy joints, i dont care what anyone wants to try and refute about "oh hes advanced" or blah blah, the dudes delivery and mic presence are WACK nowadays.
being abstract is one thing, taking it outside the box is another, but Holo just fell off the wagon mentally and artistically.
the lyrical content is there, and never left but his skills as an emcee have declined drastically from 98. he sayin all the same types for dungeon n dragon rhymes on DOOMSDAY but with better presence, cadence, delivery, flow and clarity.
anyone who doesnt see this is just dick riding to the utmost. that is all
sidenote: still one of the doper threads in wucorp history
I hope it's true about his return but didn't it used to take some chemical persuasion to get him in the (mixed forest) zone?

I love the bsbd album too - woulda been super good if the unreleased tracks were kept on
don't undertand why they were dropped anyway
I love the BSBD album too. For some reason I can never get bored of it. I actually just finished listening to Smoking Room.
to answer the reoccuring question, yes, there is new shit coming
i also believe the people who dont like warclouds music is not neccesarily because they think he is wack,i just think they are not well versed on mythology, comic book refrences and the horror genre of film because if you did understand most of the things he is talking about, you would see how genius he is,the dudes music isnt supposed to be taken literally but i can understand for those who just wanna listen to music without having to excercise their brains too much, ill give u an example for instance, this lyric
"dont believe everything u see in the desert"
if u really understood what it meant and what he is trying to elaborate on,you would realize his music is packed with more jewels than u thought,i could quote so much shit and break it down for u and it would all make perfect sense, its a matter of knowing about the subject matter he speaks on,i however dont expect every wutang listener to be a comic book enthusiasist or well versed on things like greet mythology and 60s movies and hardcore horror movie genres so i can understand why this kinda music would be acquired taste
aiight ill give props to the BSBD album with Holo as well, but thats because im pretty sure BSBD arranged his vocals to make him sound like he was actually tryin to rap, and we have never heard the true form of that album.
all im sayin, is that yes i used to think Warcloud or whatever was the illest ever, yes i get the majority of his references, but you can do so in an emceeing manner, other wise dont call yourself and emcee.
being an emcee, i know what it takes to actually emcee, Holocaust is a spoken word artist plain and simple. but stop calling someone the greatest rapper/emcee when he doesnt even do so. he could invent a new genre horrorcore spoken word
any emcee who tries to tell his 98 style is worse then it is now, i would question there understanding of emceeing
have u ever heard of off beat lyricism? its funny people give 9th prince props for the same type of rapping,it is mcing in itself, infact to me,its prolly one of the more complex ways of rapping, sequencial and well patterned verse styles sometimes can get...boring,but its relative,to me,i listen to these dudes and i get something different and fresh from the usual multis and on point flows every rappers seems to put all his energy into perfecting, the beauty about the genre of hip hop is its different genres within the main genre itself, what he is doing to me is mcing, its just not style that has caught up just yet so everyone seems to think its not a valid style, spoken word i can assure you when done how it is supposed to be done would not work on some of the production warcloud /holocaust uses, thats where the distinction comes in,in the end,i stick to my point, its acquired taste, the flow is there, its just not the way the norm of hip hop accepts it to be
i have heard of such styles, i dont give props to 9th prince for his off beat style, to me its garbage.
it took effort and time for me to rhyme on beat and flow with presicion, it took no effort to rhyme with off beat lyricism.
so it bothers me to no extent when people pass of people who can structure a verse dynamicly, switch flows without you even knowing and still hit back on drums in sync with he hi hats, kicks and snares.
its not just about hitting each snare and soundin on point. there is no "norm" to emceeing but there is practising and having a strong cadence, delivery, flow and presence which imo, new holocaust material lacks.
like i said lyrically, Holocaust has never changed imo. as an emceeing is concerned dude fell off.
tell me KGR doesnt have a complex flow, patterns and sequences in his verse that he has spent so much time perfecting, and that everyone else uses now? or Rakim?
or even RZA, who imo mastered the off beat flow in 93 but still had presence, cadence and delivery.
trust i got no beef with holocaust fans, i was amongst them for the longest time. but my point still stands
