I think Ballack may end up sneaking off to Man Utd on a free. Sir Alex Ferguson said he wasn't going to go in for Ballack as he's too similar to Scholes and Rooney. But with no one knowing what's wrong with Scholes' vision (knock on the head against B'ham in carling cup) there could be a possibility of him going there. I cn't see many other big european sides going in for him. Sure he's talented, but all the big hitters already got top drawer attacking midfielders. Though Real Madrid will more than likely lose Zidane to retirement after the World Cup, I think they will start to have Raul play in the free role, he'd be so class there. They got Cassano in to replace Ronaldo up front if he leaves, so they sorted. Arsenal may go in for him too, with Henry needing a big name signing to perhaps persuade him to sign a new deal, and with the imminent retirement of Bergkamp they may need someone to help teach Van Persie a little more about being the quality playmaker.
As it remains, I'm a Man Utd fan and think we need a player like Ballack in the team, and I think the idea of being a player that turns the tide on a recent change in fortune might be appealing to a player in the peak of his career. The captain's armband might be the hinging factor in who he decides to join, he's captain of Bayern Munchen and Germany, maybe he'd like it at the club he joins?
