Charles Jones in his own words

I bought it a few weeks ago. I'm almost finished reading it. I got a few more chapters to read. The book is very good and i recommend it to the black youth because the book is mostly about them. Bill also talks about black parents who need to discipline their kids and change their ways and attitude about education and school. He criticizes poor ignorant blacks a lot but he also gives some good information on how poor blacks can better themselves. I agree with everything he says in the book. His friend Dr. Alvin Poussaint is also a co-author of the book and he does some talking in the book. Alvin was a co-producer of The Cosby Show.

I get so tired of seeing them hanging on the block and talking to other broke poor homeless people. What can homeless people possibly talk about when they have nothing? Homeless people end up homeless because they make bad choices. I understand some of them have mental problems, are drug addicts and alcoholics but what about the ones who don't have these problems? What's their excuse for not trying to better their life? I'm supposed to give them some money when they ask for it? I don't think so because i know they're going to take the money and go buy cigarettes, alcohol, drugs instead of using the money to buy food, clothes, housing.

You don't. I can't understand how you say you can't feel sorry for them for this because I'm pretty sure if they could possibly go back to how they were before being homeless they wouldn't put themselves back in that position. I know what you mean about giving them money because you don't know what they're gonna spend it on, but the way I look at it is; it doesn't matter what they do with it, you gave them money, that's what counts. But I just buy them sandwiches/chips (British "fries") and a drink. Problem solved, maybe you should use your money to buy a heart.

What are you talking about they were put in that position? People put themselves in situations because of the choices they make and homeless people end up that way because of terrible choices they make. I understand there are some homeless people who come from single parent homes and they turn to the streets because they may not get along with their mom or dad but that's not the way to go. I don't get along with my dad but if i was living with him, i'd rather stay with him than be living on the street. Education and making wise decisions will keep you from being homeless and homeless people choose not to educate themselves and get a job. They'd rather ask for money from people who do have jobs and hang on the streets doing nothing and doing alcohol and smoking. Don't tell me that i don't have a heart because america is full of heartless people and foreign countries also have heartless people. Most rich people are heartless and they don't give a shit about the homeless but i don't blame them for not giving a shit about the homeless because rich people feel like homeless people could be just like them if they worked for a living and read books. There are some rich and middle class people who try to help the homeless but homeless people need to stop expecting a fucking handout and change their ways.

Oh yeah I forgot, it's so easy to get a job when homeless and get accommodation with no money. You need money to make money.

most people are 3 paychecks away from being homeless. getting laid off, injury, natural disaster, there are so many ways to become homeless. there are people yoiu prolly deal with that are homeless and you don't even know it. they might live in a shelter or their car. most homeless people hide the fact. there are also many mothers and children who are homeless.

I liked it a lot too. He made a map of how to get out of poverty with that book. I really like his section on jobs and education. What I thought was sad though is that the people he was writing the book for probably will never read it.

Public schools suck ass. I learn more going to the library once every couple of weeks than I did going to school every day.

That's what it iz, the mans speaking the truth; he said: blacks make up bout 20% of the American population, and over 40% of the prison population. The point is, he doesn't like where most of the blacks are headed, and that's the truth; we got to many ignorant idiotic blacks out there, Look at T.I, a lotta blacks look up to that fool, and this was the same fool that was preaching on hip hop vs America like he wasn't one of those ignorant and stupid types.

Its the district where that school is located. The assemblyman/woman is the door you want to knock on for assistance to plead school system case.
