Not enough high profile releases. This place gets buzzing when something major drops. Small label releases only last maybe for a couple weeks and then the conversation dies off..
This place used to be poppin but became a laughing stock of the internet on other forums due to its weirdo, inside joke obsessed, cornball euro frat boy base. Its like ughh forums for euros to shit on wu.
Least it turned into that. Now its dead. Id be content to talk about older albums but a lot of us are now grown, th wverage age here is prolly 35 lol.
I still try to pop in and post in pretty much every thread bu But it takes days for replies its kinda not worth it.
Still some cool people here tho. Hal. Xempt (forgot ya new name bud sorry) and a few familiar faces with similar sounding names i cant remember off hand.
Oh. Shout out to TA for his magazine drop. Hiw that wasnt stickied ill never know.
I miss Angry! His posts are the stuff of legend. He single handedly got R.A. The Rugged Man to finally release a second album.. But yeah, I think some people get bored and find other more active boards to post on.

With regard to it being dead, yeah a lot of the posters got old and lost interest and Wu is hardly winning legions of new fans each year. You'd think Ringz could hook up an AMA or 2 given the fanboy level of Wu Chamber, plus that would attract more people and redeem him in the eyes of those upset at his colossal dick move. We could also get a twitter following, make videos, promotions etc. We could make the site better just by ourselves and get more involved. I'm too lazy though, don't ask me.
I like the weirdo, inside joke part of the site. I guess it would alienate the casual visitor? I mean think of the mental cases and public safety risks that have contributed (and still do) over the years. Its fascinating if you have any interest in anthropology, Wu-Tang attracts weirdoes.

Agreed noel. Its definitely been more dead than usual in the last few months though. Certain regular posters have almost disappeared.
We just got more things going on in life. I was active a lot more from when I started in 06 till around 2013/14. After that I took a backseat until I dropped off altogether. Only started posting again recently with this new account. Can't access my old one for some reason, not that I really care that much. Just happy to chime in every now and then.
Yeah we seem to lose more every couple of months. Gen chat is really fucking dead now. Love 'em or hate 'em, the hound and soul controller's absence is definitely felt. Even the god, Hal Incandenza I haven't seen for a while. Though I know he's had reasons for not being as active anymore.Quote:

Imo social media took over from Gen Chat, it's a different world online these days. And the Wu itself doesn't have much pull anymore. 1. The core Wu-Tang fanbase never left, and never will. There's just no reason to check a message board, due to a lack of quality material. What is there to discuss? What is there to be excited about? Yeah, CZARFACE was dope, but it feels like it ran its course. Yeah, Method Man's still dope, but he's releasing cringey collaboration mixtapes disguised as albums with "Hanz On." It's been a long time since the last Ghostface album, and the past three were kinda forced storytelling projects. He doesn't sound anything like he used to. Math's album was all right, and Rae's album was all right. MK's one and Uey's was ok. Nothing to get excited about, though. When the artist checks out, the fans check out.
2. Cilvaringz' one-copy-album fiasco was a spit into the face of the fans, and severely tarnished the Wu brand. Despite how many essays Cilva writes, it was not a good look. Nobody in any hip-hop community thinks that was an insightful "artistic statement". It was a cringey publicity stunt, and has been widely mocked. Which is tragic, because they could have rejuvenated the Wu-Tang brand by releasing an awesome throwback album. Instead, some rich dipshit trash person bought it and it seems unlikely we'll ever hear it. That shit was very damaging, especially on this forum, where people were well aware what this project was, and how it was created, only for threads to be removed and Cilva to blatantly lie about the intentions behind it. The man is a talented producer, but I hate everything about this shit, and I'm not alone.
3. The community here tends to be pretty dismissive of the new generation of rap, if not outright negative and hating. Hip-hop continues to evolve, and many remain stuck in the past. If everybody hates all new music, why check the forum? The homophobia is pretty rampant and cringeworthy as well.
Maybe Ghostface's Wu album and Dark Matter will turn things around. I'll always check for Wu, and the Clan members solo LP's, even if they're low budget and disappointing.
