Damn just heard his feat on rakim album today. RIP
Rip to one of the real ones. Peace
Completely devastated. As all of you know, Here To Save You All is my favorite album of all time.. He was in such excellent shape..
But when it is your time to go, you have to go. Will never forget him. He back with B Wiz now.
FUCK. Prayers to his family
Probably the second best Latin rapper behind Pun and one of the most underrated MCs, not too far from AZ. And obviously one of the best to ever do it, with punchlines for days. I’m sure he influenced Eminem but he won’t admit it
Eminem is most definitely Chino XL influenced. I have never heard him specifically mention him, but the influence is there. I am seeing different things online from he was fighting sickness to suicide, but until the family gives a cause of death or autopsy results are released, I will just wait and see..
Wouldn't be surprised if official cause is not disclosed. Sean P's CoD was never made public
M-80 said in his post that Chino “sacrificed his own health for his family”. Peace
So glad he released God’s Carpenter with Stu Bangas before he passed. But it’s sad because he was still a lyrical monster at the time of his death. Had so much more to offer
He'll be missed

I've been listening to this a lot lately
wow
he took his own life.
makes this even more sad.
They say that whenever something happens, the first thing that you hear is almost always the truth.. When I was Googling on the day that I heard he died, suicide was the first thing that came up..
Did not want to believe that, but if you have listened to Chino XL throughout his career, you could tell that he was suffering from depression in his lyrics and I saw posts on his social media that were indicative of depression, but I never thought that he would kill himself.. Regardless of the fact, nothing about him will change to me, I will always represent for him and he will always be my favorite emcee and Here To Save You All will always be my favorite album of all time. He always had words of encouragement for people although he was suffering in silence.
I was confused when I first heard the band GhettoVampire cause this 😂 I thought chino was them for a sec 😂

Suicide is never the answer. Im sure he had a family and children of his own
He did. Five daughters, grandchildren and his mother was still alive. I guess being diagnosed with congenital heart failure back in 2020 and being diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer earlier this year was too much of a burden for him to bear and he decided that he would rather die by his own hand than let these health issues take him out. He was a very prideful person, so I can see that being the case and on top of that he was battling depression since he was a teenager. Big time suicide recipe. I have heard that he had about five albums worth of material recorded at the time of his death. First one is Darkness And Other Colors which has been leaked on YouTube. Words In The Color Of Death is him showing us that he was clearly contemplating this for some time and goes through various ways of him killing himself. It really is an intense listen. Basically his suicide letter in rap form

i wish dude would chill. like seriously.
I just pre-ordered his last album, Darkness and Other Colors, which many people are calling his masterpiece. The legal battles with his family over his remaining music is going to be ugly, I can already tell. Big Pun all over again. I just want to hear the music.
The fact that Chino killed himself is sad and ironic, considering his lyric: “The best thing you’ll ever write is a suicide note.” Forgot the song
So sad met him back in 99 in LA he was down to earth and humble, he signed my art of origin, and no complex albums on vinyl still have them after all these years. R.i.p. wordsmith.
I listened to the interview. I think it’s easy to hate M-Eighty and call him a “culture vulture,” but the dude has done many good things. This Chino release should not be shelved, so I agree with releasing the album. He’s stuck his neck out for OG and underground rappers, so he deserves credit for that. People can call him a white Jew clown and whatever, but he’s the only one who stepped up and helped Rakim release a new album
This album is crazy dark. First track right off the top is basically him plotting his suicide as a few posts prior mentioned. It’s a wild listen and a great album in a strange way. Peace and RIP
Still waiting for my copy of Darkness and Other Colors. M80 went on Instagram and posted snippets from Chino's 2008 unreleased album "Map of Bones" and it's fire. The album is coming out 2nd Quarter 2025, followed by "The Mantis" Dheezy x Chino XL - 4th Quarter 2025.
Chino also recorded an album with Canibus, but M80 claims Chino blew him out of the water and Canibus is holding back the album's release. I want to hear that.
Listening to "Map of Bones" solidifies Chino as one of the best rappers ever. Not sure why he didn't release the album back in 2008, it would've helped his legacy
M Eighty said that the collaboration album with them is not going to happen because of Canibus' unprofessionalism. He gave Canibus a large sum of money as an advance and Canibus took that money, but never recorded his vocals and M Eighty said Canibus called him the day after it was announced that Chino XL died and asked him to send him Chino XL's vocals so that he could finish up the album and M Eighty told him, "Fuck you" and swore to never work with Canibus again
Oh wow I didn’t know M-80 has beef with Canibus now. He’s got a long list of these guys now huh. Peace
