Nothing new. Hate is something usual, I know when I heard calling me "Fucking Ustasha", "Dirty Bosniak", "Shitty Croat" when I moved to a neighboring country... I got used to it. I only erase when they paint U or swastika on my school closet
I hate hearing latinos use that word, it don't seem right to me. I don't care if they grew up in the same hoods theres no excuse, black people should not be using it and white people for definite should not be using it, kids now a days throw that word about without realising it's true destructive power.
If someone came up to me and called me a spic I would put them in their place, we need to school the kids of today so that we can make sure that those types of words die out, but it is gonna take a lot of work and restructure.

Okay, this is all very true and vital. However, aren't we all logged into a site where the artist that it reps use this word in a casual manor? I always wonder about that. My pops told me last year to not use it because I am a smart young man an not that(a nigga). I was talking to him about something or the other and I guess he felt it was an important time to tell me due to the discussion we were having. He never raised me that way but thats not to say that I didnt ever here him say it though. I grew up all in this misconception though and ,yes, it gets hard to break for some. You wont catch me using it much but I aint gonna lie like it hasnt been in my vocab and families vocab since idk. Breaking habits that you are grown into is quite a challange indeed. I love livin life(challange) though. It would be nice to see artist kick in with the change as well though since they do reach the public better than the public reaching the public.

Words and their menaings evolve and Please forgive me for using these terms but "Nigger" was the original word and was derogatory (however you may spell it) and it seems to me that the black community a while back decided to appropriate the word for themselves, changed the spelling and the meaning behind it. I am in no way saying that it is right that a word be singular to a particular race of people or its decendants.
But they (the African-Americans) have faced certain trials in trying to come up in a White dominated society.

Changing it's spelling and meaning still doesn't take away from the connotations of the word. Take, for example, the Neo-Nazis. They changed the name, and the ideology, but the fact that they're still Nazis brings about some negative connotations. Same with the "N" word. But it is still a word and I was making a point of the fact that with it being a word that anybody can say it, and believe me they can, it's called reading or listening then speaking, it's really a simple process.

Although it may be true that you can not take away some of the associations implied by the word "Nigga" it is not "Nigger"
It is a different word, with similar spelling and pronunciation that is still related to the original like how you are related to you mother but are not her, you are a seperate individual that has its own purpose.

hmmm, this is an interesting post. When you truly think about the perception of what the word's intended meaning is today it really takes alot out of the struggle our ancestors faced during trying times. They is no doubt in my mind that if my grandma who was 104 at the time of her death (1896 - 2000) would have been surely called a nigger and would probably have had to use separate stalls and other such insults that dark skin people had to face had she not grown up in Puerto Rico. There is also no doubt in my head that my mother whose skin has the same rich tone as my grandmother would have gone through the same thing. (tauro da grim - thats one to grow on) I've seen so many films on how "YOUR" ancestors were treated and to hear the justification of the word and HOW its used today make me smh. Could you imagine what these souls who died for their right are thinking. Please if your going to use the word don't try to justify it. illzPotent, Im also mixed, my mother's family is of indiginous/black mix colombian while my dad (who did not raise me) is white spanish.
I agree with a lot of what you are sayin about how we can all come up in this world no matter what race you are but at the same time there are people that live in enviroments that makes things a lot harder. I don't live in the states but I have family there and I have been there and I have to say that it does seem very segregated but I live in london and thankfully it is not as bad, while we do have our own racial divides I don't think it compares to americas.
