The Beatles.......I think they are very overrated.
the beatles for sure. rolling stones, dave matthews band. most bands actually.
Stone Sour. Kiss. I can think of more....

Guns n Roses
^^^ i wouldnt say any of those are over rated. i would say that they are classics. especialy the Beatles. perhaps over played by the media but not over rated. ppl say that someone is overatted because they hear them too much. If you stay away from Radio and Music tv u wont get sick of hearing those bands. thats just my opinion anyway:{

^Please, I don't understand how anyone can listen to Abbey Road and not think that its brilliant. Nothing phony about it.
Come Together, Octupus Garden, Maxwell Silverhammer, She's So Heavy, Here Comes the Sun and the one that starts off "Because the Wind is Hiiiiiiiiiiiigh it Bloooows My Miiiiind" cant think of the name. All those songs stand on their own yet they're completely different from each other, all the while being on the same album. Do you think that shits easy to do? How are they overated?
i like "abbey road" a lot. it's my favorite beatles album. in general though people are quick to worship them and overlook the fact that they made a ton of cheesy, grade-C pop songs in addition to their brilliant stuff.

Overrated IMO:
- ABBA (I hate their music)
- Boybands-Shit (BSB, couldn't remember Justin's Band!)
- Lil' Jon & the Eastside Boys

i think you have to look at the so-called impact that bands have made... for instance, the rolling stones were good at what they did, but shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the beatles...
and i have to say, elvis is another one... he was a white guy who could supposedly (questionable to me) sing like a black guy... if the prejudices of his time didn't exist, he would be run of the mill...
also the doors... my god, this group is just awful...
more recently, the red hot chilli peppers and pearl jam could be put in that bracket... they don't have a lot of versatiltiy in their catalogues... although i have to admit, both have spawned imitators...

Nickleback sucks. "How you remind me" and "someday" have the exact same guitar riff. Listen to both at once and the only thing different is the words.
Green Day used to be alright but now they suck. And still, people hype them up like crazy.
Aerosmith definitely, their music is so bland.
you might be right unseen, but that alone doesn't exclude them from being over rated.
i'm not saying i dislike any of them. i'm just saying that their hype outweighs their talent.

I'd have to disagree on Radiohead being overrated. They have put out really nice albums, such as The Bends. Also, they sell a lot of records, without having to do much promotion at all. Unlike a lot of other groups.
I typed up a thorough post yesterday as I was leaving but there were obviously techinical difficulties and it didnt post....u2 and coldplay were on that list though.
I pretty much agree with almost all bands posted except of course The Beatles...yall might be going to hell for putting them there...lol.
