That's probably true. But, in terms of evolution, it is kind of open to interpretation as to exactly when we stopped being monkeys and started being man.

But in terms of the people today, we all descended from the original homo sapiens, who were probably black. Of course I don't believe that the white man was a product of genetic engineering.

Differences in features and skin tone are strictly due to geographic adaptation.

Basically, all white people and black people today are equally as close to the original homo sapiens.
