March Beat Battle (there back!!!)

The beat battles are back!! This time with a slight change, threres no need to sign in first just pick a sample or use both provided and drop your entry in this thread by the deadline date. This is open to all beatmakers so feel free to participate. I have picked the first two samples for this round but the winner has the option to pick the next two if they want too.

Heres two classic samples for you to use (and please stick to the rules!!)

Thanks. It started out mad simple, but I kept listening to the songs and kept hearing more shit I wanted to use. I'm anxious to hear more takes on the samples. I hope more people show up.

I sampled the Michael Jackson "Ben" joint... Lost the other sample so this is all I had to work with... lol.. made it a freestyle beat! Enjoy! And the beat is on my myspace page! Really wish I wouldve sample that Herbie Hancock joint tho, couldve done alot lol but I'll be sure to sample BOTH samples next round! PEACE and GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

I gotta participate in more of these beat battles and shit because I've discovered so more shit while doing mine with FL, but to make things more and more interesting next time...

find samples that, terribly need mixing/mastering (practice).. samples that would be real challenges to make something dope out of (definitely practice).. and that's how most beatmakers will evolve, TRUST me..

but loving what I hear so far...

I agree with all of that, it also makes you think more and get more creative so your not in danger of all sounding the same!!! Regards this batch of samples i just randomly you-tubed em before I put them up, you may notice that both have been used before which I thought would make it interesting in a way as well!! I have given the winner the option to pick samps for the next round but if they dont want to or dont come through I shall try and make it it more interesting!!!

yea i feel you i think that there are alot of people out there who just look for easy samples to loop. which is cool because we have all done it, but it limits you. But sometimes i will find something that is just flat out ill the way it is, and i dont want to fuck with that original flow of it, but thats a rare occasion. i like to break something down, then build it back up, its more fun anyways.

Mixing should be included next time.. and then, offer some awful drums and sounds that we would have to struggle to work with lol.. that makes your listening abilities edgier and much more keen than ever before.. you hear MORE throughout a listen.. like Tracks said, it's fun and easy to loop.. but it's even more experience to break it down..

can't wait for the next round lol... I am so ready yo!

battles are a great way to learn fam cos you get an inside look into how more experianced cats do there thing with the same sample, so dont sweat it fam!!! Im lookin forward to seeing what you produced!!

its not bad 4 a first time killbot.......but there's something really wrong with the snare in your first beat...you gotta work harder on your drumz ... you need to make it fit with the sample...just an advice...now the second beat, its the same thing 4 the drumz, but the snare is a little bit better now...you need more variations...same thing for the melody....but like 7thgrandmantis said, battles are a great way to learn & you can get some good advices here...keep workin man! can you guys please pick one entry only asap please, the idea was to make one beat out both samps combined or just use one samp. The reason we have two is so theres a bit more chance everbodys beat wont sound the same. If you could let me know asap tho so I can get the polls up later, thanks!!!
