It is so fucking annoying! I was speaking to my mate about music today and he told me he prefers dizzee rascal to wu tang - wtf!? i said to him 'dont you prefer good lyrics based around society or politics etc' and he goes 'nah... i would rather listen to MCs talk about the normal shit i.e. money, 'bitches' and killing people

I also remember making him listen to Dear Mama and his exact words were 'Not enough angry black person' - i'm loosing my cool with this guy, on his ipod he rated every track of the first G-unit album 5 stars and then rated ambitionz az a ridah 3! please tell me someone else experiences the same shit with their freinds.... please tell me i am not suffering this alone!!!

Drives me insane whenever we take one of their cars anywhere cos I just know my ears are gunna be bleeding cos of the shite they'll have on!!!

I've never wanted to hear anything by Flo rider or T-Pain, but I am a big fan of Dizzee's shit.

I don't know how you could think he belongs in the same catergory as those two other fools.

UK grime is every bit as grungy as the Wu sound. If you take the time to adapt to the accent, you'll see hear that grime emcees are pretty fucking nice too.

^ don't get me wrong, i love grime and dizzee's music - or i did he sold out with that dance wiv me tune - but he ent on the same level as the wu... plus it pisses me off that evryone says how good he is and they seem to overlook UK artists like Kano and Roots Manuva

No I don't know anyone like that but I heard they exist. I also don't talk about hip-hop in real life with anyone under 20.

Some might listen to those guys on occasion, but never saying they are better than Wu or Pac...thats just silly.

I know people like this. For these type of people music is more like a fashion accessory. They only care about being seen in their car with the latest big (alleged) hip hop act on their stereo.

They move with whatever act's big at the moment. I guarantee 99% of people who were jockin' G-Unit 5 years ago didn't buy their last release.

i actually know people that done that, when i told them bowt g-units latest album they were suprised by the startling revalation.....people just wanna be listening to whatevers new so that they can fit in...it's fuckin ridiculous, i'd rather listen to good music then new music .... whether that be from pac, biggie, jimi hendrix....

I know of people like this...but they aren't my friends.....My friends that listen to rap pretty much listen to the same artists (outside of my of my one friend who still listens to nothing but tupac) that I do.

my main shit stain got the same style but prefers different artists...
he prefers Jay to my Nas, or Em to my Wu, Talib to my Pharoahe, but it's all in the same realm... i don't hate those artists, im still they fan... i'd rather listen to someone else is all. except when it comes to Tupac, fuck him.

Another thing u can try for laughs is to ask them to quote their fav verse by an artist or ask them how many recognised classic albums they own. Then you'll see some blank expressions!

The embarrasing thing though is when u say to someone nowadays you like hip hop they immediately assume u like 50 Cent or Nelly :frusty:
