where does "The Wizard" rank amongst Tony's albums?

since we got a Wizard forum it's only right to start building about the album although i doubt this LP will catch even 10 procent of the interest "Cuban Linx II" gained on here. "Wizard of Poetry" is definitely another good album to the already impressive Ghostface collection, i can't think of anybody else who pulled as many great albums in the 2000's. i'm a bigger fan of hardcore hip-hop than R&B though so naturally the album will rank amongst the lower grades (which isn't neccesarily a bad thing considering the amount of quality packed in this discography). I'd say it's better and more focused than "More Fish" though.

Why everybody keep saying this is an R&B album?? This is one of Ghost's best efforts and is a hip hop album with good beats and mellow production with some R&B hooks but it's HIp HOP for Fuck shake!!! Ghost ain't singing shit so treat this album as it is real hip hop where the mc raps about actual facts and isn't fantazicing about dealing with drugs and murder people being 40 years old. If you want to peep old ghost just check for Cl2 but respect the album. This is a dope ass album not classic not even banger but very good to listen to and smoke some joints chilling at home.If you say this is an R&B album then these songs from Cl2 are too R&B oriented only cuz they have Blue Rapsberry, Life Jennigs, Suga Bang Bang???? God Job ghost you are the most consistent Mc in the clan and probably in the hip hop world. Peace.

what you talking about, ain't no one disrespecting Starks or this album in this thread - i didn't say it was an R&B album in no negative way at all, just stating. it's still hip-hop but it's more R&B-oriented than hip-hop oriented actually, even ask Ghostface himself.

if you play this album for any human being they're gonna like it. This forum is full of guys what have the musical range of a gnat, so yeah, but this album is fucking amazing. Truly fucking amazing. You can play supreme clientele then this album and there wouldn't be that big a fall or jump in quality, Ghost is a fucking genius.

its clear to any fan this album is a weak def jam branded off the shelf thing, this isnt displaying ANY of Ghosts varied talents

God, im listening through Walking Through the Darkness and realizing that Ghost could very possibly be the most inventive rapper of all time.

He's obviously too good for the mainstream but im glad for it and hope he continues to the beat of his own drum for the rest of his career cause he's seriously a legend in very sense off the word.

Wizard of Poetry has such good cohesion as well.

yeah. The albums seriously isn't worth money. I got my self juiced up on Pyrex Vision and Catalina, then bought the album and nothing matched or had anything to do with these songs except Ason jones and We Will Rob You, its not even mixed well

and i REALLY hate how on black mozart deck and rae talking before their verses saying stupid shit. It makes it sound all mixtapey and pointless, like some fags rapping to a good beat.

BDR was good for the first few listens and my nut busting of that album was really for Yolanda's House which is still one of my favorite beats ever.

I'm sure you've all heard albums that sound good at first then suck as time goes until you dont wanna play them anymore. I have felt this way about almost every wu album to come out in the past 5 years. 4:21 even sounded good when i first bought it, now i can ONLY listen to the Glide

except ghost albums which my appreciation for tends to increase with time.

im going to give Wiz of Poe time before i buy it just in case but ghost is the only one that doesn't fall into this wu trap of albums with 0 lasting value.

i was HYPE for the album to drop, which is normal, i waited 6 years, then it dropped, i put on a ridiculous outfit and got drunk off cheap wine, only to listen to an album that the 4 songs that got me hype were the only quality songs.

so yeah, its not really a switch, its just a disappointment.

i think this would boil down to the fact that most wu related albums these days have no lasting value except a song or 2, which i don't think many of us disagree with or we'd all be listening to Digi Snax (bet you forgot that existed), Protools, and Grandmasters on a daily basis.

i do like CL2 though. i listen to probably 10 tracks quite often.

so i listened to wizard of poetry the other day
and i gotta say i really can't front on it - it sounds like ghost picked some good production, it's cohesive, and it genuinely feels like ghost knew what he was doing with this album and made sure it came out right

like i said im not gonna front because this is a well put together album - if you like that style - but i just can't stand listening to ghost rap on this tip for every song.
about halfway through, ghost's verses just started sounding the same to me and I got tired of it.
And I absolutely love soul music - there's a couple joints that didn't make the album that I love too
so hey if someone is really digging this album i can understand that, it just wont be getting much play over here and it will be the first Ghost album I don't purchase
although I almost want to buy it just for the artwork haha
