Best debut album of 2009

Not counting mixtapes we've got a gang of really good debut albums that's been praised this year. Personally i don't like Kid Cudi and all that but i know it's getting a lot of love so it's in the poll... it's great to hear fresh artists really focusing on putting together a good, well-thought out debut album rather than putting the focus on a hot single or track or working with the hottest artists and producers just for the fuck of it.

I have ordered Fashawn's "Boy Meets World" but haven't received that yet but it's gonna be very interesting to hear it since it's been so praised. The Skyzoo album is my favorite debut of the year, maybe even in a couple of years, brilliant album and also Sha Stimuli's album was dope too although i haven't bumped it too much yet.

BTW, have Torae dropped any albums before "Double Barrell"? I know about 'Daily Conversation', but i'm not too sure about if it's a mixtape or not.

Haven't heard Fashawn's but Skyzoo's album is excellent. A notch under OB4CL2 imo.

I finally got a chance to listen to the Fashawn album a couple days ago and it's REALLY REALLY good... I now understand why people are calling it a 2009 Illmatic of sorts...

Havent heard the rest of the list yet or the Wale debut (Attention Deficit is his 1st album right???)

Need to listen to Sha's before I vote, but Fashawn's by miles. Can't think of anyone else who can compete, but I'll come back to this if I remember :)

I saw how you guys were praising Skyzoo's album here and since I haven't heard of him before I gave it a try. I was disappointed. The beats in the cd are what made it any good. There's something missing in Skyzoo's rapping.

Pretty sure their problem was with his monotone flow & delivery, not the understanding of his lyrics

After listening to Sha's album some, I'm sticking with Fashawn by far.

Exactly. I even remember hearing that line. He has like only one flow, Percee P syndrome.

Out of albums listed, i've only heard Skyzoo's and Fashawn's efforts.

Both are pretty good, Fashawn's i prefer just because i think he's a much better mc than Skyzoo.

I didn't think either were great though, Fashawn's definitely could have been if the beats were better overall.

I read Wale's album was pretty bad, but i'll probably check it out anyway. I was a fan of his mixtapes, but it seems like he tried to introduce too many elements to the album.

I'll have to try and check out the other stuff mentioned.

"The Power of Words" mixtape by Skyzoo that also dropped this year is another banger that i can highly recommend. more or less dope all the way through, well worth checking out!

I'm sure there are more debut artists that I'm forgetting, but the only one that really stuck out this year is Big Twins.

Mostly for the Sid Roams sound.

Based on the albums you mentioned i have to go with "Fashawn" ! Skyzoo's album has dope beats but his monotone style gets boring after a while.

The Project Kid was one of my favourite albums this year but could we really call it a Debut? Twin Gambino is from Infamous Mobb and I think he already had "The Grimey Collection" which was more of a mixtape but yeah I guess you could say this is Twins solo debut.

I choose Big Twins and yes its mostly because of Alchemist and Sid Roams but yo at the same time dude has one of the most distinct voices in rap.
