I think the idea of producing a hip hop album with just a band is an awesome idea. Hope he releases it on vinyl too.
And Pete Rock Petestrumentals 1 and 2 are classics.

another track of petestrumentals 3. I got mixed feelings, I do like the band aspect, but Pete's best material was probably made using sp-1200.
