so we were touching on the genre in the overrated bands thread and it's good to see people clearly have vastly different opinions
what would be your top hair metal band(s), if any?
I like White Lion circa Pride (their only album I've heard) : soulful voice, echo/effects on the guitar, ballads n rockers. sounds very hairy and metally. the lyrics are cheesy so there's that
if the singer's voice doesn't appeal to me, it's game over for me in the hair metal genre. sorry Poison, Hanoi Rocks etc

Hair metal as a whole is pretty awful, but all those well known bands...poison, warrant, skid row, bon jovi, motley crue, danger danger etc. had their moments. They all did a few good songs that endured. But as a whole there's probably no genre that has aged worse than hair metal.
