Who fucks with this stuff? If anyone doesn't know what it is, it's usually chilled out, nostalgic 80s/90s music. Its kind of retro-futuristic commercialism. I couldn't get into it before but its clicking with me over the last few weeks.
There seems to be an inexhaustible supply of this shit too, so I will post some good ones. If anybody else has recommendations, drop em please.
Hey thanks for introducing me to the genre. I checked out part of the first tape posted and I was mildly intrigued. I had a look at what Vaporwave is about on Wikipedia and now I'm listening to this, supposedly a genre classic :
can't say I'm too impressed so far by the above album but I'm willing to give the genre some time to sink in. seems like pretty good music to have playing in the background while you're doing some work related ish on the computer. I'm gonna check out this vaporwave artist called Blank Banshee in a minute too

apparently there's a subgenre called future funk too and it appeals to me more immediately as I've just found out

Yeah Hal, background music is what I use it for mostly. That Macintosh LP is kind of primitive now but it was influential back then. The genre has evolved in a bunch of different directions since then.
What I like is that it evokes a time and place, even if imaginary. I'd like to figure out how to transport people like that.
