is this a big event in Europe? i don't think many people in the US know about it.

yeah it's kitschy but it draws a crowd
in the sixties, seventies and eighties it was a tv event for the whole family. it still is for some families. everybody knows a family who gets together for the show and casts their own votes while watching the show, trying to predict the winner. my parents put it on when we were kids and we got to stay up late. some of the music is terrible though lol
that trailer and the music are spot on. the vid is a dead ringer for 90s and 00s euro dance music hits
just compare (you might not want to switch on the sound)
