What do you guys think of Kick-Ass? I like it so far, though I think it stared out really strong and started to lose a little steam.
you know why? because theyre only up to issue 5, and each issue has like 6 months in b/w lmao....this shit is takin forever.....but i like it alot, good shit.........however...idk about the movie thats comin out. I think thats a bit much, so soon.
I finally read The Dark Knight Returns and Punisher MAX 61-63. Pretty dope shit espeically Dark Knight Returns. I think Punisher is lacking dialogue now a days though. More pages of scenes and shit. Well, it is hard to find an equal balance, so it's cool.
because the art is so sick...lmao..so they dont need dialogue...nah but seriously, they try to use the art as wisely as possible.
I hate buying comics, im too impatient waiting for issues to come out. I would much rather wait a bit and then pick up the graphic novels.
I just recently bought Civil War graphic novel (main story) which I thought was great and I plan on getting the tie in storys, also I just picked up book 1 of Akira and also Watchmen which i've never read before.
Speaking of Kick Ass, check these pics out...

Cacophony is dope btw.
seriously? i don't want to disrespect you or your opinion, but this is the type of 'vanity project' material that does not need to be supported. the art was amateurish trash, and kevin smith has to inject his humor and voice into characters and situations that don't require it...his joker in particular read wrong *some of his dialogue read as too frat boy comedy movie, and then him offering anal sex to onomatopeia for cash and his reference to killing batman in order to defile his corpse sexually...really? everytime the story actually begins to feel tense he ruins it ...the book was absolute shit. the fact that flanagan (one of smith's buddies) was able to get this assignment is nepotism at it's worst. buy the joker hardcover, or batman: the black glove, or all star batman hardcover if you need a dark knight fix; and that's just more recent stuff, there's about 100 hundred batman mini series and graphic novels that warrant your attention and scratch. and i don't hate smith i loved his daredevil run, and clerks but everything else leaves me cold. he has the same problem as joss whedon, all of his characters sound the same and he tries to make everything hip and self referential.
sorry to rant but i've seen this book given props on so many forums it drives me insane...this was not good on any level.
it isnt fantastic, in fact its easily shit-on-able...but its entertaining. Right now as far as Batman goes, its all about RIP..but if u look at how many Batman related comics there are currently running, this one is atleast some where up there. The art isnt that bad btw.
btw that "rant" is worth a view people...lmao..he speaks some truth....though Kevin SMith is the man in the film dept.
Furthermore, id also advise agaisnt looking for the popular comics, based on the initial coolness it might send off, its the same in most artistic mediums.
I don't get the comic books, as they come out, I get em in full stories, and usually years later....
Some things I can discuss are.......spiderman: reign, read it recently..
um...lone wolf and cub.
Punisher, anything from the 80's until a few years ago...
Wolverine and x-men, anything from the 80's until a few years ago...
or we can discuss what marvel did to his origin, I don't really like it but oh well...
again, i'm always a year or two behind....
