I like the Maria Isabel. But neither of those even touch this track:

^ Meh. Lol, nah I like her, but why even introduce it like that? You obviously lean to the retro soul stuff, which is really a different genre.

I'm not expert in classifying the music, but I see it like this;
If Nicole Wray isn't R&B then neither is Aliyah. And if Aliyah isn't R&B then Maria Isabel isn't either.
But then again I'm not sure how to explain a difference between soul and R&B. Is Marvin Gaye Soul or R&B? Al Green? How far back does R&B go before you start calling it "retro" or soul?

Erykah Badu's Mama's Gun dropped twenty years ago today. Love the organic feel of this album and she made it much easier to understand than her first album for mainstream audiences. Only sold about half of what Baduizm did, but still a surefire banger regardless..
both those albums are ace
my sister was a big Erykah Badu fan. I heard a lot of those albums through the wall that divided our rooms back in the day haha
She's a legend. All of her albums are excellent, not sure why she hasn't put an album out for years.

Good album, very 90s Hip Hop centric.
