ehh, i figure it's a bit of a throwaway collection of tracks to keep things bubbling - some solid stuff on there. a track like Automatic is bad, but i'm happy enough to hear him making this kind of music, even if this project isn't amazing. the mastering is a bit off and the production is a bit muddy also. Set Set, Weight and 2 Legit sound good to me.
i see a lot of people who started listening to him after the madlib album are whining... but if gibbs released something like ESGN (one of my favourite projects of his) right now these same clown would be complaining about it being "trap" and disappointing. he's rapped over all kinds of beats before, i didn't seeing anyone caring (or listening) when he made tracks like this:

i was more disappointed by pinata than this tbh, but mainly because i always get my hopes up for madlib rap albums but they're always underwhelming (madvillainy aside). his production is just better when it stands alone and most rappers don't have the versatility to do it justice. gibbs did a valiant job, but madlib annoys the shit out of me with the beats he comes up with for rap albums. the second half of "real" is one of the greatest beats on a rap album of the last 10 years... but it's half of a 3 minute track. "shitsville" and "thuggin'" are great, but the rest of the album was just some nice, laid back beats.
i know they're making another album together, i'm sure it will be nice and all, but i'll take this gibbs over that.

i personally prefer the way he used to rap to what he does now, but i still appreciate his more recent style.
this is my first full gibbs album. It really sounds like the worst version of the new Flatbush zombies (which i like, though it's repetitive). also, can't see anything you embedded

tsa, i don't know where to start with your comment, i guess i'll just take it as a statement. that flatbush zombies album is really bad though.
I liked some songs on it and the overall vibe was dope enough to say I like the album, but I can't take their fake rapping voices. It sounds ridiculous. One of them raps like the cookie monster and lyricwise he's ok but he needs to knock that shit off, he's almost 30. I also don't know 'wtf they're getting at'. Proxies is ones of a my favorite songs to come out this year. Facts and Big Shrimp are good too.
Nowadays I only need an album to give me a song or two I can't take away.
Has anybody considered the new Freddie Gibbs is bad because he spent a long stint listening to Wu-Tang before working on it? Pollution of consciousness tbh.
