that art looks dope
sooo....most of the relaunch books are fucking terrible lol
re: batman and robin #1...not digging the writing at all...what's with all these quick ass reads? batwoman was ace though
x-force was super boss...daredevil and spidey were also prime, although with spidey...the last page reveal just had me saying "uh...who is that? Am I supposed to know you?"
ur too harsh a critic panda..thats it eloels.
^not really lol, most of them are shit...let's be real here. Just the art alone on alot of these things made me cringe and put them back down.
and
me and my girl went to visit my dad after his knee surgery (cool story, bro) and he gave me some old 'savage sword of conan' and 'house of mystery' and 'creepy' and 'eerie' from the 70s/80s (slightly cooler story, bro) and I was leafing through them (probably will never get around to reading them)
the old comics just have so much more story in them...and i'm not talking about all that corny expository dialogue and captions like "Captain America throws his shield at the hydra agent" while he says "Ha! That Hydra Agent is no match for my shield!" all in the same panel where he throws his shield at the Hydra Agent...I'm talking about actually dense plots with multiple subplots and words written by dudes who actually read shit other than comic books.
shit, compare sandman, swamp thing, shade, or even an 80s issue of Uncanny X-Men to most marvel/dc books out now and it's embarassing. Charging 3-4 bucks for a 5 minute read that's like part 1 of 6 and has like 3 or 4 scenes in it. shit sucks. At least X-Force has enough stuff going on in its current arc to justify its length.
I guess I just miss third person captions with flowery narration that showed the guys writing actually had literary aspirations and didn't just have a hard on for smashing action figures against each other with a meaningless 'story'...which is what, for example, Justice League #1 was.
btw....who the fuck was the lady at the end of spider-man? is this a new character?
i have a gap in my spidey knowledge from about 2003-06...ish.
new era my friend...i do agree that a lot of these motherfuckers were brief..but ive come to accept that comics have been goin a certain kinda direction..i just pick what i kno is still boss..i.e Batwoman eloels..havent read anything but GL and BW so far so idk about spidey yet ill tell u tomoro
^i guess (spidey reads like an old school comic to me though, i don't feel cheated out of story or like the writer thinks i'm an ADD crackbaby scared of too many words), but i'm just tired of seeing these splash pages, and double-pages splashes, and pages with like 2-4 panels on them with barely any text and saying to myself "so the fuck what, dude?"
They aren't even usually cool or hyper-detailed images that you'll stop and scrutinize for their awesomeness, they'e just a blatant way to eat up pages and pad out the story...i remember an issue of secret warriors that had a wordless double page spread of an explosion, it wasn't even a well drawn explosion...shit sucks lol
tbh, most of the relaunch books i read i either downloaded or read at the shop lol
I see what ur sayin and i agree to some extent
animal man was entertaining. i'll check out the next one.
your rant is felt, pandemic. lol
back in the day uncanny used to be some dense shit. very detailed dialog.
same with 80's wolfman/perez teen titans.
good reads.classic comics.
is it just me, or does it seem that marvel is a much better fit for jim lee. his batman looks good, but all the other justice league looks like shit. especially compared to his x-men.
this week has been ok so far book wise, at least on the DC side..i like frankenstein and i didnt hate Bn R, the thing is i feel like the original purpose has been fulfilled and the book still being around is..idk, dumb? I fucks with gleason tho. Marvel has fuckin DD and X Force fuckin shit up for everybody eloels..amazing books..and panda sorry, idk who that woman is at the end of spidey either

He can do no wrong
jh williams 3 is a rock star...i think the writing on the new series is actually better than the 'detective comics' run (other than the flashback issues)...it feels alot more focused.
something about tomasi's writing for both bruce and damian seems off to me...like he's trying to channel morrison and failing. gleason is sick, though. I'd love to see gleason on a straight up horror book.
I was disappointed in Frankenstein, myself.
i mean i was expecting a lot from Frankenstein since i fuckin love that character..but im still down for the ride, and i still dig the art
