    The thing that made it scary is not so much the movie itself. What made this movie scary was the hype it received when it was released. Everyone who saw this movie truly believed it was real from all of the rumors surrounding it. The fact that it was real in your mind is what made it scary. Now that the hype is gone and everyone knows it was just a scripted low-budget movie, it is not as scary.

    They do movies like this all the time now. Cloverfield, Diary of the Dead etc., this idea had been used out.
