    The white sands proof;project twinkle;
    Here is a very interesting USAF project named PROJECT TWINKLE;This project was set up in the 1950s by the USAF and consisted of specialists in atmospheric physics to determine the origin's of green fire balls that were being seen over and near TOP SECRET nuclear weapon research in the southwestern United States;Cover up or merely mistaken identity of natural/man made objects;

    ASKANIA CINETHEODOLITES AT THE WHITE SANDS PROVING GROUND

    QUOTE;
    "In December, 1948 a new and strange phenomenon began to be observed repeatedly in the southwestern United States in areas where Top Secret nuclear weapon research was being carried out. Particular areas were around Los Alamos, New Mexico, Sandia Base near Albuquerque, New Mexico, the White Sands Proving Ground in NM and, eventually around the nuclear weapon storage site called Killeen Base at Fort Hood, Texas.

    This phenomenon consisted of (generally) bright green lights moving (generally) horizontally through the night sky and then dropping downward slightly and going out. These became to be known as "green fireballs." After these had been observed many times in late 1948 and early 1949 Dr. Lincoln La Paz, a famous meteoricist (a scientist who studies meteors and meteorites), declared that they weren't normal meteors".

    " He told the Air Force and the FBI (see Appendix) that if these weren't special devices resulting from our own (United States) secret research, then they could be Russian and in any event were a potential threat to our "vital installations" (FBI terminology) where nuclear weapon research was carried out."

    Tim Good: Secret Space Program Conference

    The secrets that the military/industrial complex has tried to suppress and the inner workings of all countries have shared are enclosed in this fact based and comprehensive presentation that the average citizen never hears about. Secrets that are revealed for the first time about astronauts who had interaction with ufo's , incidents where UFOs have been fired upon by the military, and other occasions where aircraft have been 'shot' down or 'absorbed' by extraterrestrial craft.

    Advanced technological secrets that the military have gleaned from crashed UFOs [which] of course remain hidden within 'black' programmes. Open your minds and take in knowledge. It will amaze you, maybe frighten you, and maybe change your world as to the reality of our "visitors" and our place in the cosmic system. Your mind will be altered and your mind will be open to the mystery of the ages changed forever.

    Bio: Worldwide research, interviewing key witnesses and discussing the subject with astronauts, military and intelligence specialists, pilots, politicians and scientists, has established Timothy Good as a leading authority on UFOs and the alien presence - the most highly classified subject on Earth.

    Since 1961, he has amassed a wealth of evidence, including several thousand declassified intelligence documents.

    Timothy Good has lectured at universities, schools, and at many organizations, including the Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences, the Royal Canadian Military Institute, the Royal Geographical Society, the Royal Naval Air Reserve Branch, the House of Lords All-Party UFO Study Group, and the Oxford and Cambridge Union societies.

    In January 1989, following the dissolution of the Soviet empire, he became the first UFO researcher from the West to be interviewed on Russian television. He was invited for discussions at the Pentagon in 1998, and at the headquarters of the French Air Force in 2002. He has also acted as consultant for several U.S. Congress investigations. He is known to millions through his numerous television appearances and has co-produced several documentaries on the subject.

    Physical traces associated with ufo sightings
    There is one area of the UFO investigation branch that needs to be seriously looked into and that is those UFO cases that appear to have interferences by the way of actual physical traces being left by some UFOs; Below is a breif summary of the work carried out on these type of UFO cases and the link to actual cases that have been investigated and the conclusions reached ;
    ************************************************** ********

    Centrer for Physical Trace Research ;
    PHYSICAL TRACES ASSOCIATED WITH UFO SIGHTINGS;

    PHYSICAL TRACES ASSOCIATED WITH UFO SIGHTINGS;

    It has been nearly 24 years since the original “trace catalog” was published.
    Two fellow travelers have passed on, J. Allen & Mimi Hynek.

    This older work & any present or future work is dedicated to their memory.
    As stated in 1975, what appear to be UFO traces are quite varied yet remarkably consistent.

    The objects fall into three general groups:

    1. Small Hemispherical/Spherical Objects, from 4 feet to 12 feet in diameter, 4 ft to 5f ft thick, glowing brightly at night & showing a metallic surface in daylight.

    They rarely touch the ground but remain stationary 1 feet to 5 feet above ground surface.

    External details, such as “vents” or “extensions” are often reported on the base of such objects.

    They are reported as silent, whistling, humming, or rumbling.
    These objects generally leave behind 4 feet to 12 feet circular areas which are depressed, burnt or dehydrated.

    Considerable tree damage is usually found in the immediate area.
    Animal & human reaction is often reported.

    2. Egg-Shaped Objects, 16 to 20 feet in length with visible landing legs, generally four, on occasion six.

    Generally silent, humming or whistling sounds.
    These make ground contact, leaving burnt areas & imprints, some tree damage.

    Small beings are often reported.

    3. Typical Flying Saucer, 30 feet to 40 feet in diameter, three landing legs, touch the ground & leave burnt or depressed areas with an irregular configuration. Landing imprints are found, in some cases considerable external features are seen on the objects. Small beings reported.

    Other traces of great interest involve powdery material & liquids.

    After 30 years of research it is obvious that UFO traces represent the most direct approach to resolving the UFO mystery. When multiple witnesses observe an object on the ground, less than 50 feet away with no engines, no wings, no visible means of propulsion, they have, with their observation, eliminated many natural or conventional explanations.

    When they leave traces behind, we have something tangible to examine long after the object is gone.

    I believe the data indicates constructed machines under some sort of intelligent control which can interact with their surroundings in a very physical way. What these machines are or where they might originate are open questions.

    These questions simply cannot be answered by ignoring the facts.

    Comments from the Director,

    Ted R. Phillips, March of 1999

    link; http://www.angelfire.com/mo/cptr/dir.html

    "Ted Phillips is the Director of The Center for Physical Trace Research (CPTR). The Special Investigations Unit of the CPTR investigates active UFO sites. The team posts investigative logs along with images and video obtained during site visits in the field. The teams primary purpose is to insert itself into an area of developing activity while the site is still fresh. The SIU has five highly qualified researchers and has the only dive team in the U.S. geared toward the investigation of USOs and similar anomalies.

    Our speaker, Ted Phillips, is an engineer, as well as a professional photographer and musician. He participated in the Vanguard Satellite Tracking Program and was a field engineer on the Minuteman Missile Project. He began investigating UFO reports in 1964 and was a research associate of Dr. J. Allen Hyneks from 1968 until Dr. Hyneks death in 1986. It was at Allen Hyneks suggestion that he began specializing in physical trace research of UFO sightings forty years ago. Phillips has personally investigated hundreds of UFO cases and his files contain 3,189 physical landing traces from 91 countries.

    Phillips participated in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Aerospace Sciences meetings, along with Dr. Hynek, Jacque Vallee and Dr. David Saunders. He was a member of a select team invited to meet with the United Nations secretary-General at the U.N., along with Dr. Hynek, Dr. Vallee and astronaut Gordon Cooper. Phillips gave two presentations at the First International UFO Congress.

    Ted made a presentation at the first MUFON Symposium and at several others, including the 2006 Symposium. He has appeared on national television in numerous documentaries including In Search Of, NBC News White Papers, CBS News Special reports and the documentary movie, UFOs Are Real. Most recently, he was featured in Alien Encounters, a documentary on the History Channel.

    Phillips current research projects include active UFO sites in the central U.S. and a major project in the Tatra Mountains of Slovakia. He will be briefing us on his latest research and some of his most fascinating previous cases.

    Clip from the 1979 UFO documentary 'UFOs Are Real"

    1. PHYSICAL traces. Compressed and dehydrated vegetation, broken tree branches, and imprints in the ground have all been reported. Sometimes a soil sample taken from an area where a UFO had been close to the ground will be determined by laboratory analysis to have undergone heating or other changes not present in the control sample. CUFOS has a computer file of over 5600 such cases.

    2. Vehicle interference cases. Sometimes referred to as E-M (Electro-Magnetic) cases, the UFO appears to cause a number of effects on automobile ignition systems. CUFOS has a computer catalog of over 500 such cases.

    3. Physiological effects. Medical verification of burns, eye inflammation or temporary blindness, or other physiological effects attributed to encounters with UFOs, even healings of previous conditions, can also constitute evidence, especially when no other obvious cause for the effect can be found by the medical examiner.

    4. Radarscope photos. A series of photographs of a radar screen on which a "blip" of a UFO appears is a powerful adjunct to a visual sighting because it provides quantitative evidence of the UFO's motions and velocity.

    5. Photographs and videos. While it might seem that photographs would constitute the best evidence for UFOs, this has not been the case. Hoaxes are common but can usually be exposed quite easily, but even those photos which pass the test of microscopic analysis and/or computer enhancement often show no more than an object of unknown nature and frequently out of focus. For proper analysis of a photo it is necessary that the original negative be available and the photographer, witnesses, and circumstances under which the photograph was taken be known.

    UFO / Airplane Near Miss, Manchester Airport, U K '95

    Civil Aviation Authority Report on Near Miss With UFO. Documented by Mike Wootten.
    What follows is the full report of the CAA's conclusions relating to a near miss between a Boeing 737 and an unknown object on 6th January 1995, while on its final approach to Manchester Airport.UK;

    The report was released on 2nd February 1996.
    Commercial Air Transport Airmiss Reports (January-April 1995)
    Airmiss Report No. 2/95
    Date/Time: 061848 Jan Night
    Position: N5318 W0200
    (8NM SE Mancheser Apt)
    Airspace: MTMA Class: A

    Reporting Aircraft Reporting Aircraft
    Type: B737 Untraced
    Operator: CAT
    AltWeather: VMC CLAC
    /FL: 4000ft (decending) (QNH 1027 mb)
    Visibility: 10KM+

    PART A: SUMMARY OF INFORMATION TO JAS THE B737 PILOT reports that he was over the Pennines, about 8 or 9 NM SE of Manchester Airport, at 4000ft, while being radar vectored by Manchester radar on 119.4. He was flying at 180-210 kt on a N heading and squaking 5734 with Mode C selected. Although it was dark, visibility was over 10 km with a fairly strong NW wind (340/30).

    While flying just above the tops of some rugged Cu both he and the first officer saw a lighted (see JAS notes) object fly down the RH side of the ac at a high speed from the opposite direction. He was able to track the object through the RH windscreen and side window, having it is sight for a total of about 2 seconds. There was no apparent sound or wake. The first officer instinctively 'ducked' as it went by.

    The first officer reports that his attention, initially focused on the glare shield in front of him, was diverted to something in his peripheral vision. He looked up in time to see a dark object pass down the right hand side of the ac at high speed; it was wedge-shaped with what could have been a black stripe down the side. he estimated the object's size as somewhere between that of a light ac and a Jetstream, though he emphasised that this was pure speculation. it made no attempt to deviate from its course and no sound was heard or wake felt. He felt certain that what he saw was a solid object - not a bird, balloon or kite.

    MANCHESTER ATC reports that the B737 was being radar vectored from Dayne to the ILS for RW 24 when the pilot reported a lighted object passing close by above and in the opposite direction. There was no known traffic in the vicinity at the time and no radar contacts were seen.

    JAS Note (1): Telephone conversations subsequently took place with both the captain and his first officer. the captain remained convinced that the object was itself lit. Although he could not determine a definite pattern, he described it has having a number of small white lights, rather like a Christmas tree. He confirmed the high speed of the object, and though unable to estimate the distance, said he felt it was very close. Following the incident, the captain and first officer independently drew what they had seen, both agreed about the shape but differing in their opinions about the lighting aspects.

    The first officer felt that the object was illuminated by their landing lights, which at that stage were switched on. He was unable to assess the distance, other than to say that he involuntarily 'ducked', so it must have appeared to him to have been very close. He was entirely convinced, as was the captain, that they had seen a solid object and not a Met phenomenon, balloon or any other craft with which they were familiar, or a Stealth ac, which he [the captain] had himself had seen and which he feels he would have recognised.

    JAS Note (2): Despite exhaustive investigations the reported object remains untraced. A reply of the Ciee radar shows a number of secondary contacts, including the subject B737, being radar sequenced in the Manchester TMA and zone. The B737 tracks over two almost stationary primary contacts just N of Leek on a NW heading while descending through FL 70-60. On entering the Manchester TMA, passing FL 50, it is vectored right onto about 040 deg, and continues to descend on a NE track along the E boundary of the Manchester TMA to within 0.75NM of the Daventry CTA, where the base of CAS is FL 45.

    At this point, passing 3600 Mode C, the ac is turned onto a L base for RW 24 as part of a busy sequence of inbound ac. At no time during the downwind leg is any other radar contact seen in the vicinity. An extract from the RT recording on 119.4, which shows that the B737 was given decent clearance to 4000 ft at 1845:30, follows:

    From;
    B737 (1848) - 'c/s we just had something go down the RHS just above us very fast.'

    Manchester - 'Well, there's nothing seen on radar. Was it er an ac?'
    B737 - 'Well, it had lights, it went down the starboard side very quick.'

    Manchester - 'And above you?'
    B737 - 'er, just slightly above us, year.'
    Manchester - 'Keep an eye out for something, er, I can't see anything at all at the moment so, er, must have, er, been very fast or gone down very quickly after it passed you I think.'

    The possibility that the object might have been a hang glider, paraglider or microlight was investigated, but all the operating authorities, without exception, agreed that this was an extremely unlikely explanation, for various reasons, but mainly because none of these activities takes place at night.

    In addition, there are obvious hazards of flying in the dark, from high ground (the peaks in this area along the Pennine ridge range from 1600 to over 2000 ft), string winds, and because these aircraft are unlit. JAS also explored the possibility of military activity, but could find no evidence in support of this from any official source.

    In any case, it seems most unlikely that such a flight would have been conducted in CAS and so close to a busy international airport. Because of the B737's proximity to the uncontrolled airspace to the E of Manchester, during the downwind leg, which covers the airmiss period, the possibility of unknown military or civil activity in the adjacent FIR cannot be completely discounted. However, the likelihood of such activity escaping detection is remote, as the area is well served by several radars and any movements a the levels in question would almost certainly have generated a radar response.

    CASE ONE#1;
    REPUTED ALIEN CAPTURED IN NORTHERN ISRAEL;
    QUOTE;
    "On Saturday night, December 21, 1996, residents of Ahyud, a village just outside the city of Akko in northern Israel called the police to report "luminescent blue disks" flying over their farms.

    At 11 p.m., Mrs. Zyona Damti, 34, looked out a window and saw "an alien" standing in front of her father-in-law's barn. She described the entity as 20 centimeters tall and "humanoid: head, trunk, two arms, small hands, two large black eyes. The color was greenish--the umbilicus was clearly visible." Mrs. Damti told her father-in-law what she had seen, but he replied that "it was nothing."

    At 8 a.m. the following morning, December 22, Mrs. Damti went outside and found the entity lying on the ground in a large pool of "green liquid." She called the police. Responding to the call were Officer Asher Ben Ezra and his partner. Shortly after the officers confirmed the claim, over 50 Israeli journalists converged on the scene.

    Barry Chamish, who covered the incident for Israel's Magazin 2000, interviewed Yisrael Damti, Zyona's husband, who said, "You'd better hurry. The body is disintegrating quickly. Most of the head has melted away."

    The Damtis put the body in their freezer to halt decomposition. By that time, the remains had shrunk from 20 to 5 centimeters. At 2 p.m., the remains were taken to Technion University in Haifa.

    Also on the scene was reknowned psychic Uri Geller, who reportedly suggested that the Damtis call in NASA. Despite many requests from the media, Yisrael Damti allegedly refused to permit the entity to be photographed before the autopsy began at the university.

    Not everyone believes the remains to be those of an extraterrestrial. Dr. Fischman told Barry Chamish, "What you have here is a lizard which hatched too early. It is covered in a multi-layered gelatinous sac. When it shed the sac, it left amniotic fluid" all over the ground.

    Doron Rotem, who investigated the case for the Israeli Association for UFO Studies, said he believed the remains to be the embryo of "a chameleon or a salamander."

    The case received a big play in the Israeli media, with TV coverage on Channels 1 and 2 and hourly broadcasts on the Galey Zahal (Israeli Armed Forces Radio). As a result, more people came forward with UFO stories.

    A farmer in Ahyud said aliens had stolen 18 of his sheep the night of December 21.

    In the nearby Arab town of Tamra, an Arab shepherd reported that his sheep had been stolen, too.

    Below is one very good condensed UFO documentary that covers a lot of the main questions relating to the UFO enigma;The below text explains it in a simple but relevant and important way

    "There is a great deal of attention surrounding UFOs and Disclosure these days. Sightings have increased worldwide and it seems the veil is thinning. Many people, including certain UFO researchers, talk about an imminent disclosure of perhaps the biggest secret in the history of mankind.

    The alternative community is fascinated by this topic, giving us all kinds of explanations and information about "the topic of all topics". But anyone who has looked into the UFO phenomenon a bit deeper knows that there is more to it than what meets the eye. There are certain issues that are overlooked or even ignored by some prominent advocates of disclosure and exopolitics.

    One of the most misunderstood aspects of the UFO subject is the hyperdimensional and paraphysical nature of the phenomenon, as well as the idea that humanity may not be as "special" and untouchable as we believe ourselves to be

    Freedom of information lawsuits (1978);
    In this section and the following posts the subject of the FREEDOM OF INFORMATION LAWSUITS or FOIA will be the main primary focus;While there have been a few not so long ago the one below dates to 1978;These freedom of information lawsuits are the primary obstacles that need to be won in order to see an even deeper side to the official perception,reactions and conclusions regarding real and factual intrusions of restricted air space of various countries;

    FREEDOM OF INFORMATION LAWSUITS (1978);

    (with hyper linked commentary by Brad Sparks)

    Introduction;

    QUOTE;
    "Last December (1998), Brad Sparks, cofounder of CAUS (Citizens Against UFO Secrecy), prime consultant on the Freedom of Information (FOIA) suits against the CIA and NSA, and one of the first people to review those original FOIA documents in Dec. 1978, wrote me concerning errors that that appeared in the Newsday/Washington Post articles I had posted on my website.

    In light of the events this year regarding Peter Gersten and CAUS, it is very important that accurate information be posted on the net regarding the releases of the FOIA documents in 1978 & 1981 and the results of the studies on same. Therefore, I am in the process of correcting what I had written. ( jc 1/14/2008: Corrections have been accomplished);

    What I did find interesting was that _he_ was the only one that had written me in this regard. (i.e. UFOs at SAC bases) One would think that today's skeptics would have had plenty to say concerning the 1975 SAC base UFO sightings if they were completely informed concerning what transpired back then. Not _one_ had written me to counter what I had posted well over a year ago. Therefore, it is apparent to me that, due to the passage of time, people may have either forgotten these highly publicized events or consider them diminished in importance.

    Incidentally, prior to posting, I had snail-mailed CAUS re: same and received no response. Brad informed me that Peter Gersten and Barry Greenwood had a falling out and that I had probably mailed my letter about the time their problems had reached a crisis point. (As I found out later, the reason for that breakup is history making of its own accord and its outcome will most certainly deserve future close scrutiny.)

    Additionally, since the Newsday/Washington Post articles in question are also an important part of factual UFO history, they too need to be preserved. Therefore I am making corrections to the original using editor's brackets so that one can be fully apprised of both the articles and the corrected information.

    I wish to thank Brad for taking the time to read the entirety of my FOIA information and detailing the corrections for me via email. He was at the epicenter of a major ufological occurrence, and therefore, his observations concerning the proceedings certainly deserve preservation as well.

    As a point of information, Brad was extremely disappointed that the credit for uncovering this hard-earned information had been given to GSW since: 1) GSW was a one man organization and the person running it left much to be desired. 2) GSW didn't file the lawsuit; CAUS (Peter Gersten) filed it on behalf of GSW. Although GSW's name is on the suit, Gersten essentially did everything and had picked GSW to set up a test case. Brief information regarding GSW

    I am publicly apologizing to Brad for not getting to this sooner, but some changes in my own life, the amount of work involved and a major computer crash kept me from doing it. Since this is an ongoing project, please bear with me as I complete my research into the important material he sent and gradually add-in various items. Anyone else with documented support to their discussion or general comments is welcome to forward that information to me for possible inclusion in the proceedings.

    Washington Post/Newsday Article

    Forward;
    QUOTE;
    The following 1/19/79 Newsday article concerning UFOs at SAC bases, and lawsuits concerning same, was actually a reprint of a Washington Post article. All the information was printed accurately from source to source. As we mentioned above, Brad informed me this particular "Freedom of Information" lawsuit was filed by CAUS, not GSW.

    As far as he knows, it was incorrect that the Washington Post assisted in follow-up lawsuits. However, it is true that various government agencies were sued...... By 1981, GSW's lawyer, Peter Gersten, had received approximately 3,000 pages (approximately 1000 documents). Researchers should be well-apprised of the following:

    Two statements:

    a) The CAUS lawsuit is on legal record as indicated.

    b) Although the information detailed in the Newsday/Washington Post article has some inaccuracies which I will itemize, the information uncovered still reveals important details which, at least to me, apparently confirm UFO visitations to the northern tier USA SAC bases and provide supportive background regarding other possibly UFO-related reported occurrences in areas surrounding the bases within that immediate time period.

    And two important related questions:

    1) Do we really have a valid, truly logical explanation as to how the combined efforts of approximately five (5) Air Force bases could not catch the intruders to those northern tier SAC (Nuclear) bases in 1975 when during the first incident, all the bases were put on a Security Option III national alert?

    2) **Should both the first-hand recorded descriptions given by named military personnel at the time of the incidents and some of the other fascinating cases reported in the same general time proximity be completely forgotten as though it all never happened? This author is of the opinion, at least at the present time, that it should not.

    The following article and links to both statements released in those FOIA documents, and additional reported police sightings seem to indicate that the reported sightings may well have been something other than either normal (or new-type "silent") helicopters.

    Paragraphs in the following have been numbered to make it easier to cross-check the accuracy of the information derived therefrom which was used to create a shortened extract of the article.

    (1/19/79)
    The Newsday Article

    [with some factual corrections by Brad Sparks noted]

    The Washington Post;

    1. Washington--During two weeks in 1975 a string of the nation's super sensitive nuclear missile launch sites and bomber bases were visited by unidentified, low-flying and elusive objects, according to Defense Department reports.

    Brad Sparks says the number of bases was approximately 5 plus a Canadian base

    2. The sightings, made visually and on radar by air and ground crews, occurred at installations in Montana, Michigan, and Maine. They led to extensive but unsuccessful Air Force attempts to track and detain the objects.

    Click here for an excellent book regarding the 1975 FOIA documents & cases;

    3. Air Force and Defense Department records variously describe the objects as helicopters, aircraft, unknown entities or brightly lighted, fast-moving vehicles that hovered over nuclear weapons storage areas and evaded all pursuit efforts.

    Click here for a "Sample documented military case" from "The UFO Cover-Up

    4. In several instances, after base security had been penetrated, the Air Force sent fighter planes and airborne command planes aloft to carry on the unsuccessful pursuit.

    5. The records do not indicate if the fighters fired on the intruders.

    6. The documents also give no indication that the airspace incursions provoked much more than local command concern.

    This is not correct. A "Security Option III" alert indicates it involved the NMCC (National Military Command Center) and therefore was national not just local

    7. But a Nov. 11, 1975, directive from the office of the secretary of the Air Force instructed public information staff members to avoid linking the scattered sightings unless they were specifically asked .

    8. The Defense Department position, cited in the memo and reiterated yesterday by a departmental spokesman, is that formal investigation of unidentified flying objects ended in 1969 and that there were no plans for renewed Air Force investigation.

    Brad Sparks says the Air Force has been misrepresenting the ending date of Project Blue Book. He says Blue Book was actually terminated January 30, 1970

    Also: Few, if any of the 1975 cases were "cc"ed to Foreign Tech Division/Wright Patterson AFB

    9. Yet another Air Force intelligence report indicated extensive interest in a 1976 incident over Iran, when two Iranian Air Force F-4 Phantom fighter planes encountered a brightly lighted object in the skies near Teheran. Also see an important in-depth workup on this case from Bruce Maccabee.

    jc 8/2/2008: . . . and now, totally removing it from the realm of simple hearsay, stunning testimony from one of the pilots from this case, at a 2007 press conference (in Washington, D.C., USA).

    10. The object was traced by Iranian ground radar, seen by the crew of a commercial airliner and pursued by the F-4s. According to the report, the Iranian planes experienced a breakdown of their electronic communications devices when they neared the object.

    Brad Sparks doesn't think "ground radar" tracked the UFO's in this incident.

    He said the case revolved around the F-4's onboard radars' tracking & lock-on of the UFO(s)

    [Some pertinent questions are:

    If the Mehrabad (Teheran) ground radar _was_ out, exactly when did it go off & when did it come back on?
    (jc 6/7/02 Another important question: What caused the Teheran ground radar to fail? Did it fail from natural causes or did it suffer the same problems as planes that tried to approach the UFO?)

    At what time did the F-4 jet UFO encounter begin?

    How long did the encounter last?

    Why aren't any of those important details included in any of the documents released?]
    (jc 6/7/02: One obvious possibility is that for military reasons, they don't want anyone knowing about their radar; but certainly, not the only possibility if we take the incident at face value.)

    11. The report, compiled by American officials, said that the electronic weapons system of one of the planes went dead when its pilot prepared to fire an AIM-9 missile at a smaller object that appeared to roar out from the larger vehicle. ( jc 5/8/2008: A history channel program "UFO Hunters" interviewed a pilot from this encounter and conducted actual flight recreations of same at a jet pilot school in California, USA.

    The pilot still swears it happened and added that his plane was circled by "something" that appeared to be shot at him while he was traveling at it, at over 1000 mph. It flew back and rejoined the craft that released it. The interviewing group was in agreement this was technologically "over the top."

    They also interviewed a pilot from Peru concerning a similar encounter he had 4-5 years later, and recreated that one as well. Both cases, as analyzed, are truly well-beyond the boundaries of even present-day aviation. Both pilots are still well-respected to this day, and these cases happened approximately 30 years ago.)

    12. The planes' electronic equipment reportedly became operative after they veered away from the smaller object, which had returned to the larger light, the report said. Iranians said the larger object had colored, fast-flashing lights and was the size of a Boeing 707 jetliner.

    13. The information on the 1975 and 1976 sightings--in records from the Air Force and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD)--was turned over to Ground Saucer Watch (GSW), a Phoenix-based organization that monitors UFO reports.

    Brad says this is not correct. He and other researchers had uncovered this years earlier. Incidents were originally leaked to NICAP president Jack Acuff

    14. GSW obtained the information through a Freedom-of-Information request to the Air Force, one of several it has made to government agencies involved in UFO investigations.

    Again, as per above;

    15. As a result of a similar request by the Washington Post and GSW, the CIA turned over almost 900 pages of document related to its monitoring of UFO reports since the 1950s.

    Click here: Brad says also "not correct." Brad was the researcher doing the actual in-depth research on the CIA documents, and the CIA documents actually went back to at least 1949

    16. The CIA was directed by a U.S. District Court judge here last year to turn over to Ground Saucer Watch UFO data unrelated to national security. The agency, according to GSW officials and attorneys, apparently has withheld some UFO records, and GSW says it intends to seek further court action in the case.

    A reminder as to who was actually filing the lawsuit;

    17. The CIA documents are largely a collection of worldwide intelligence reports, newspaper articles and agency memoranda relating to UFO sightings and theories of extraterrestrial life.

    18. The CIA's position is that it has had no involvement with UFOs since 1953, when a special study panel concluded that they presented no threat to national security.

    CIA historian Gerald Haines has demonstrated the lack of truth in this statement

    19. While memos dated as recently as 1977 are included in the 879 pages, the CIA spokesman said the agency continues to be "a passive recipient" of UFO data.

    This statement was also not true;

    20. Todd Zechel, a GSW investigator and director of another organization, Citizens Against UFO Secrecy, said: "We've had to pry loose every item of information we have. I am inclined to believe the government doesn't know any more about UFOs than we do, but if UFOs are what they say--nothing--why don't they open their files totally?"

    21. Zechel and William Spaulding, a Phoenix engineer and director of GSW, said that the Defense Department, the Air Force and the National Security Agency (NSA) have refused to turn over other information that would shed more light on military encounters with unidentified flying objects.

    [However, the researchers themselves have correctly pointed out that giving out _some_ of the information could possibly tell an enemy the facilities and techniques we have for collecting data which, in certain cases, could jeopardize the security of our nation. A "Catch-22" situation of sorts exists in this area.]

    22. Zechel, a former NSA employee who now lives in Wisconsin, said that the 1975 incidents at the missile and bomber facilities would not have been revealed, had it not been for a "leak" from a Pentagon source.

    Brad's correction on where Todd Zechel worked

    As stated previously, incidents were originally leaked to NICAP president Jack Acuff

    23. That tip, he said, led to the information request that produced the reports on the "flap"--as a rash of UFO incidents is called--in the last days of October and the first two weeks of November, 1975.

    Again, these incidents are detailed in the 1984 book "The UFO Cover-Up"

    24. The Air Force and NORAD data provided detailed accounts of sightings of unexplained objects from Loring Air Force Base in Maine, Wurtsmith AFB in Michigan and Malmstrom AFB in Montana, all within a two-week period.

    25. At those and other missile-launching sites in the northern tier of states, military personnel reported that the objects hovered over nuclear weapons storage areas, in some cases as low as 10 feet from the ground, and over missile silos before they departed.

    26. In some reports the objects were called "helicopters," although no witness made a positive identification. The sounds the objects emitted were described as being similar to helicopter noise.

    27. In one report--on Nov. 7, 1975, at Malmstrom AFB--Capt. Thomas W. O'Brien had just left duty as a missile launch officer when he saw an aircraft resembling a helicopter approach the silo area.

    28. He and his deputy heard what they thought was a helicopter rotor over the building where they were resting. The unidentified deputy looked out the window and saw "the silhouette of a large aircraft hovering about 10 to 15 feet above the ground" and about 25 feet from the launch-area fence.

    29. He reportedly saw two red and white lights on the front, a white light on the bottom and another on the rear. Darkness prevented him from seeing the object's markings or personnel. Military crews at two other nearby launch facilities reported moving lights in the air on the same evening but said they heard no sounds.

    30. NORAD commanders' activity logs during that period reported a sighting at another unidentified launch facility in which witnesses said they saw the object "issuing a black object from it, tubular in shape." Standard radar surveillance did not indicate its presence.

    31. More detail appeared in reports of sightings on Oct. 30 and 31 over Wurtsmith AFB, where an "unidentified helicopter" flew around the base and hovered over weapons-storage bunkers.

    32. Investigators subsequently determined that no military, commercial or private helicopters known to be based in the area could have been around Wurtsmith at those times.

    33. Several sightings occurred at the Maine air base as well, where objects hovered over the weapons area. Radar and visual sighting were made, and another KC-135 was sent aloft to oversee pursuit efforts by a helicopter borrowed from the Maine National Guard.

    34. The object eventually disappeared toward the Canadian border, where Canadian air force jets were on alert. There was no indication whether the Canadian planes spotted the object.

    [with some factual corrections noted]
    1. GSW and the Washington Post made some "Freedom-of-Information" requests [§ 14, 15]

    The Freedom of Information lawsuit was filed by CAUS, not GSW. As far as Brad knows, the Washington Post did not assist in the lawsuits in any meaningful way

    Brad, Bob Todd, and Todd Zechel were the researchers doing the actual in-depth research; and documents actually went back to at least 1949

    2. The Air Force and NORAD (North American Defense Command) gave them 900 pages of documents [§ 15]

    [The 900 pages actually referred to the CIA documents, "not" the Air Force/NORAD documents]

    3. UFOs were at a string of nuclear missile Air Force bases in 1975 [§ 1]

    Brad says the number of bases was around 5 plus a Canadian base

    4. They were unidentified, low flying and elusive [§ 1, 3, 25-29, 31, 33-34]

    5. Sightings were both visual and radar [§ 2, 10, 27-33]

    6. Sightings led to unsuccessful attempts to track and detain the objects [§ 2-4, 9-12, 34]

    7. Objects described as unidentified helicopters, aircraft, unknown entities or brightly lighted, fast moving vehicles that hovered over nuclear weapons storage areas and evaded all pursuit efforts. [§ 3, 24-29]

    8. In several attempts, the Air Force sent fighter planes and airborne command planes aloft to carry on the unsuccessful pursuit. [§ 4]

    9. Documents mention Air Force concern about a 9/19/76 incident where 2 Iranian F-4 Phantom fighter planes encountered a brightly lighted object in the skies near Teheran. [§ 9-12]

    10. The Iranian planes experienced a breakdown of their electronic communications devices when they neared the object. [§ 10]

    11. The electronic weapons system of one of the planes went dead when its pilot prepared to fire an AIM-9 missile at a smaller object that appeared to roar out from the larger object. [§ 11] (No longer hearsay. Click "pilot" in this paragraph to see pdf file of a November 2007 testimony by pilot Parviz Jafari, retired General of Iranian Air Force, at a Washington, D.C. 12. The plane's electronic equipment became operative again after they veered away from the smaller object. [§ 12]

    13. The larger object had colored fast flashing lights and was the size of a Boeing 707 jetliner [§ 12]

    14. Some UFO records have apparently been withheld. GSW and the Washington Post are going to court to try to get them. [§ 16]

    Again, as Brad Sparks indicated previously, this is incorrect

    * MORE ABOUT "FRONTIERS OF SCIENCE" & CUFOS;
    In the early 1980's, CUFOS had some problems and Dr. Hynek and associates were searching for a way to save money and yet get the information their group was publishing to a larger portion of the general public.

    In Jan. 1980, in an attempt to achieve this, a second issue of the Jan. 1980 CUFOS journal featured an editorial by Dr. Hynek on its cover explaining that IUR was going to publish its journal through a new science magazine called PROBE, rather than being subscribed to directly.

    Unfortunately, that attempt failed. I have a lapse of two years in my issues of IUR at this time. But I believe the journal started up again sometime around Jan. 1982. That issue featured another editorial by Dr. Hynek explaining that PROBE had folded after a few issues and that they tried again with another independent publisher entitled SECOND LOOK which almost immediately changed its name to FRONTIERS OF SCIENCE. This effort also failed.

    However, received with the first new issue of a newly reinstituted IUR in Jan. 1982, was a copy of an article by Peter Gersten, which he wrote for FRONTIERS OF SCIENCE which detailed information which validated the existence of UFOs, released by nine (9) different branches of the government in 1981. An article by Richard Hall (former assistant director of NICAP and editor of "The NICAP Evidence") in support of and adding additional information to Mr. Gersten's article was incorporated therein.

    CUFOS, unfortunately, could only help them disseminate this (then) newly discovered amazing material to its own journal readers; a much smaller population than was desired by all. However, CUFOS has continued to publish its journal on a regular schedule since that time thanks to the efforts of Jerome and Nancy Clark, Mark Rodeghier and IUR's contributing editorial staff and artists. Its excellent analyses and discussions concerning both up-to-date and past reported events continues to be of hallmark quality.

    1608 UFO Aerial Battle/France;
    Very old UFO case here;

    1608 UFO Aerial Battle /France

    "In August of 1608, people of southern France, from Marseilles to Genoa, witnessed a true wave of UFOs, as reported in a chronicle of the time entitled, "Discours des terribles et espouvantables signes apparus sur la mer Gennes."

    In the sky over Martigues an aerial battle took place which left an odor of saltpeter (sulfur).

    The inhabitants of Nice saw three strange luminous vessels moving at high speed above the city. The vessels stopped close to a fortress then went down into the sea causing the water to boil and release a reddish-colored vapor (see image).

    To the amazement of onlookers, two humanoid beings with large heads and large luminous eyes, and reddish scales connected to their vessels by tubes, passed several hours in some kind of strange work.

    Also off Genoa an aerial battle took place between flying objects and other craft emerging from the sea.

    The soldiers of the fortress delivered eight hundred blows from their guns to drive off the intruders.

    French UFO cases;Old To the 90s;

    Below are some more old UFO reports and cases from France leading up to the modern era

    Four centuries of UFOs in Liguria (Genoa by the CUN);

    U AND FOR ALIENS IN GENOA (excerpt from the catalog by ME Parodi Ligure);

    1608 August - Nice-Genoa - Genoa are seen in the sea surface to the navel beings with human figure and arms covered with scales in hand flying with two snakes. Many guns are ineffective. Seen in the same period in Nice "strange objects in the sky throwing blood on the earth."

    1608, August 15 - Genoa - In the harbor are three carriages each drawn by six figures of fire like dragons with snakes that launch frightening screams. The churches are full of supplication, fasting and processions are organized.

    1948, March 22 - 4:00 - Camogli -. A witness known to fall from the sky "meteor multiple" white, so dazzling as to illuminate the surrounding objects, arranged on two lines, top and bottom, preceded by a meteorite bigger. After c.ca 30 sec. you hear a dull roar and far. The meteor is also observed from Lerici (SP) and Ajaccio (Corsica).

    1950, April 11 - shortly after 21:00 - Genoa - From Piazza Matteotti, some people see in the sky for c.ca 2 min. the body of a blur for high altitude flying towards N silent moving jerkily and leaving a trail of light regular features like the flame of an exhaust pipe.

    1950, June 3 - evening - Genoa - During a fireworks display in S. Clearly some people notice a hard blue-white dull, closely round and flattened from a distance, flying above the clouds disappearing behind clouds layered. Straight line, with deviation to E and O. Finally disappears behind the clouds.

    1952 May 21 - 23:45 - Genoa - Zone Carignan. Some people observe a flying disc plow the sky at high speed.

    1952, June - 23.00 - Genoa (unknown area) - For the 20th century. a lover of astronomy known in heaven horizontal passage from NE to SW 2 discs paired, fast and quiet, perfectly round, inclined at 45 degrees c.ca, diam. apparently equal to half of the Moon, with very bright light on the circumference of a great light and rear triangle. The head rules out any explanation note.

    1954, July 27 - 23.30 - Box - From the terrace a witness sees a bright spot in the sky that in approaching quickly becomes a globe with an intense blue light. Up close button is an opaque mass surrounded by two concentric circles. The cold light escapes from two slits.

    1954, Oct. 16 - at night - Camogli - Reported UFO

    1954, Oct. 17 - at sunset - Camogli - Looking out the window of the house a woman sees a "flying saucer" with a big streak of light moving quickly into the sky at high altitude.

    1954, December 7 - 9:00 - Pegli - A witness saw a dark object and shape unspecified fall into the sea with a blaze in c.ca 15 miles S of dam Multedo. The Coast Guard performs search made difficult by the conditions of the sea .. The Rescue Centre Cadimare Albenga Airport and do not receive any notice of aircraft disappeared.

    1957, August 20 - 19.30/20.30 - Nerves - two flying saucers in the sky for 1 hour buildings ranging changing position between them emitting a bluish light - then yellow - very bright when in motion. Directed first towards the south, suddenly disappear from the top, sloping trajectory.

    1960, July 18 - 20:30 c.ca - central and northern Italy - Sightings steering very light body with long tail. Perhaps meteorite or satellite Sputnik IV rocket.

    1963, June (?) - Genoa - On 23 June, the magazine "La Domenica del Corriere" receives anonymous photos of an alleged alien craft landed in a forest near Genoa. The sender would have captured a few days earlier along with a garage and want to keep secret the name "for security reasons."

    1963, July 3 - 23:00 - Genoa - UFO Sightings in the sky with dir. N / E, slow and straight.

    1963, July 4 - 21:56 - Genoa - Repeat the sighting of July 3, 1963.

    1965, April 23 - 21.15 - St. Andrea di Rovereto - Noted by many as the passage of a hard silent, with green and pink lights, like a big cake. Diameter twice that of the moon, perhaps with portholes. He walks away with a luminous trail like a meteor.

    1965, October 2 - 19:00 - Genoa - Sightings satellite spotted an unknown object similar to the 02/10/65 - 19:05 - Genoa. Subsequently identified as the carrier called COSMOS 91 65 75 B.

Andrea di Rovereto / Chiavari - 5 people noticed in the sky a luminous disk (diameter twice that of the Moon) surrounded by pink and green lights flashing, appearing from behind the promontory of Portofino, stop for a bit 'over the hill and start of Thanks SP to fast disappearing from view. Reported similar sightings in Vienna and Lisbon.

    1966, June 8 - afternoon - Monte Moro district / Genoa - Report to the Police telephone landing of a spaceship on Mars. The ship, with a 2 m high c.ca base perimeter of 4-5 m, is the joke of some jokers.

    1966, September 13 - 3:30 - off of S. Margaret Lig. / Gulf of Tigullio - For 3 hours (observed by a yacht a "big green light, the surface of the water," silent. Up close is oval with "3 lights: one in the center, a rose on the left, yellow on the right. "The UFO makes perfect shots and side stops still. At 6:55 disappears with a sudden movement. The Harbour of Livorno and Genoa have no plausible explanation.

    1967 - day - Collect the Monte Moro - Observed and photographed hard day. (False?).

    1967, July 17 - 18.30/20.30 - Pegli? - Observed for 2 hours a large luminous object shaped like a neon tube milky white color with soft edges, but distinguishable. 1967, July 30 - 23:00 to 23:15 - Genoa / Pavia / Turin - Sightings great globe flying fiery trail with flying from S to N (seems to "get closer to the Earth's surface"). Shortly after 23.00 - Sestri Ponente - Two couples from the terrace seen a UFO with "long tail bicolor (red-orange)" fly "fairly high" and disappears into the hill of S. Albert (N). Probable meteorite.

    1967, August 15 - 12:30 - Sampierdarena - A dozen people reported the sighting of the RAI GE two silvery objects flying cigar with red trail with dir. OE c.ca 1,000 m altitude.

    1967, by mid-August on IIa-Genoa (?) - Mrs L, pregnant with her son, V., and her husband noticed a UFO in the sky from a porthole that sends a beam of green light that stops the height of the woman's belly. The woman, frightened, began to run, followed by her husband trying to comfort her. (See 1982, 30 lugl.-August 1)

    1969, August 27 - 22:14 - Genoa - Genoa Hundreds of notice in the sky a reddish white globe with a conical wake up fast to proceed with the sea say. E / W. Airport GE denies that it is a jet. Perhaps a meteorite or bomb back space in the atmosphere.

    paint. Tracked object 35NM SE over Lake
    Huron where contact was lost.

    1 November/0920Z: Received, as info, message from Loring AFB,
    Maine, citing probable helicopter overflight
    of base.

    MARITIMES SEEING 'EM NOW; FOUR REPORT 'FLYING SAUCER'

    Halifax, July 3 (CP) - Whether men of Mars are lobbing some sort of missiles hasn't been determined, but the appearance nearby of the "flying saucer" has resulted in speculation.

    Dr. C. K. Gunn, superintendent of the Dominion Experimental Fox Farm, at Summerside, P.E.I., his wife and Roland Phillipson, manager of the Prices Board office in that town, and his daughter, had a 30-cent view of the airborne wafer they couldn't identify. All four said they had seen the object "quite plainly" and described it variously as "a shapeless object that glistened and gleamed in the bright sun." It was travelling at a high rate of speed.

    At Ottawa, air force experts offered to advance a theory if somebody would catch a flying saucer and show it to them. Officials said they knew of no experiments being carried on.

    Speculation Over Flying Saucers

    HALIFAX - (CP) - Whether the men of Mars are lobbing some sort of missiles at us or whether the stars are scattering big hunks of dust hasn't been determined but the appearance of the "flying saucer" in the maritimes has resulted in considerable speculation.

    Dr. C. K. Gunn, superintendent of the dominion experimental fox farm at Summerside, P.E.I., his wife and Roland Philipson, manager of the prices board office in that town, and his daughter, yesterday had a 30-second view of an airborne wafer they couldn't identify.

    They had read stories of the appearance of flying saucers on the west coast and wondered if there was any connection.

    At Ottawa, air force experts were without clues but offered to advance a theory if somebody would catch a flying saucer and show it to them. Officials said they know of no experiments being carried on either at R.C.A.F. bases in the area or at nearby fields in the United States.

    STRANGE AERIAL OBJECT SEEN OVER MANITOBA

    LAC DU BONNET, MAN. - (CP) - A bomb-shaped, all-metal, balloon-like airship, 30 - 40 feet long and with steel cables trailing, drifted over this Manitoba town 50 miles northeast of Winnipeg yesterday. It bore no identification marks and an airplane pilot who inspected it said it was at an elevation of 10,800 feet.

    Green, Fiery Ball Reported By Judge North of Winnipeg

    WINNIPEG - (CP) - Several members of Winnipeg's legal fraternity, together with a larger number of laymen, are prepared to swear that there's something strange swishing through the skies over the Dauphin marshlands 160 miles northwest of here.

    First person to report seeing the missile was Judge E. J. Heaney of Winnipeg's juvenile court. He said that while squatting in a swamp, his eyes searching the still-grey early morning sky for ducks, he suddenly saw a fiery ball, green in color and travelling at terrific speed, approach through the air until it neared the size of a football.

    Abruptly it whizzed low to the east, exploded in a shower of green sparks, and left the sky free for ducks.

    The incident also was reported by four Winnipeg lawyers.

    See Queer Objects Over Edmonton

    EDMONTON - (CP) - More residents have reported seeing mysterious pear-shaped objects streaking through Edmonton's evening sky.

    F. Arnold Richards, a civic employee, Friday, was the first person to report seeing the flying objects. He said they appeared to travel faster than jet-propelled airplanes and "a whitish-bluish" flame, which he "took to be the exhaust," spurted out from the wide end of the objects.

    Accounts of other observers tallied with Mr. Richards' description in time, general appearance and flight direction, but differed in the number of objects sighted. Mr. Richards said he saw three; several others said they saw one.

    FLYING SAUCERS OVER MONTREAL MIGHT BE SANTA

    MONTREAL (CP) - Adults might call them flying saucers but children will probably believe it was Santa Claus on a rehearsal visit.

    Two adults and a number of children in different parts of the city said they saw "four or five" bright shining objects flitting across the sky, Tuesday.

    W. F. Garnahm said he was in central Montreal when he saw two young boys looking up at the sky. He looked too, and said "four shiny objects flashed in and out of sight as they turned in the sunlight."

    Garnahm said he has 6,000 flying hours.

    "I'm sure they weren't planes."

    Mrs. Donald MacCallum, shopping with her seven-year-old son, said she also saw the objects.

    'Round Objects in Sky' Sighted With Naked Eye
    (By the Canadian Press)

    Canadians hopefully scanned the skies for satellites Sunday and enthusiastically reported sighting yellow balls, an orange-gold substance, round objects, streaks and a flitting sphere.

    But as Russia's two-foot space satellite whizzed monotonously round and round the earth, there were no confirmed sightings by scientific bodies anywhere in the nation.

    Radiomonitoring was a different proposition. There were scores of reports from ham operators whose short wave sets picked up the intermittent "beep" of the baby moon's transmitter as it sped through its orbit at 18,000 miles an hour at a height of 560 miles.

    Capt. Roger Desgagnes, 30-year-old skipper of a St. Lawrence River freighter, spotted "a round object high in the air" off Sorel, Que., and said he was sure it was "the Russian satellite."

    Desgagnes said the object was visible with the naked eye. He and his brother gazed at it through binoculars but it disappeared within nine minutes "as it entered a cloud formation."

    Muriel Low, a housewife standing near Hedley, said she saw "a bright spherical ball about 10 minutes to 11." Others nearby said they saw nothing.

    Mysterious Flying Object Seen in Quebec Province

    QUEBEC (CP) - Duck hunters of nearby Lauzon, Que., today reported having seen a red spherical object falling from the sky, Saturday.

    They said it appeared to have fallen into the St. Lawrence River off Quebec harbor.

    The sightings were similar to those of Jacques Hebert, physics professor of Ottawa University, who reported seeing a rocket-shaped object falling near Quebec, during the weekend.

    Mr. Hebert described the thing as rocket-shaped, with a long blue body and a red head.

    LUBBOCK, Tex. (AP) - A missile engineer reported seeing a "brilliant colored egg-shaped object" which stalled autos in New Mexico Monday at about the same time the U.S. Air Force started an investigation into similar reports in this and other areas.

    Witnesses say a mystery object skipped about the countryside here and near scientific military bases in New Mexico during the weekend. The reported sighting startled citizens, peace officers and servicemen but apparently left no concrete trace.

    James Stokes, 45, an engineer from the USAF missile development centre at Alamogordo, N.M., said 10 autos were stopped on an isolated desert highway, U.S. 54, between White Sands proving grounds and Alamogordo Monday.

    NEAR A-BOMB SITE;

    His description was similar to ones reporting a big ball of fire in this Texas area during the weekend. A huge, oval object "nearly as bright as the sun" was reported Sunday, hovering near bunkers used in the first A-bomb explosion.

    Strange lights were also reported near Chicago and in Virginia.

    Stokes said occupants of cars saw a strange object flying toward them from the northeast. He said his auto radio faded and died, then his engine stopped. Several other cars also stalled.

    He told a newsman: "It turned and made a pass at the highway and crossed not more than two miles ahead. As it passed . . . I could feel a kind of heat wave, like radiation from a giant sun lamp. But there was no sound. It had no visible portholes and there was no vapor trail."

    CAR BATTERY STEAMS;

    "When I got back to my car and checked the engine, I found it intact but the battery was steaming. But the engine started with no difficulty. I called the air force and notified them."

    The object moved very rapidly and its surface looked like "glowing mother of pearl."

    Allan D. Baker of Las Cruces, N.M., reportedly shot pictures of the object.

    Col. Barney Oldfield of the air defence command said "The object . . . was not picked up by radar. It did not seem to be traceable."
    __________

    In Washington Monday, the U.S. Air Force undertook an investigation of a huge and strangely-lighted mystery object reported to have flashed over west Texas.

    Reports of strange flying objects have been popping up for years, but this one had the support of a variety of witnesses, including a sheriff and one of his deputies.

    It was variously described as a burning mass, a big light and an egg-shaped object 200 feet long.

    Meanwhile, there were reports on strange things elsewhere.

    Three policemen and a fireman in Chicago's suburban Elmwood Park said they saw a peculiar round glowing thing in the early-morning sky Monday. They said their car lights appeared to dim as they kept the prowl car spotlight focused on the thing.

    NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The coast guard cutter Sebago sighted an unidentified flying object over the Gulf of Mexico at 5:21 a.m. CST today. The object, seen for about three seconds, resembled a brilliant planet moving at tremendous speed.

    Coast guard headquarters in New Orleans received a radio message about the sighting. The message did not say exactly who on board the cutter had seen the object.

    But the message said the object had been tracked on the Sebago's radar screen for 11 minutes before the visual contact and for 16 minutes afterward. During these periods, the object darted off the screen every few minutes but soon returned.

    'Mystery Object' Baffles Montreal

    MONTREAL (CP) - A mysterious object sighted Sunday night over the RCAF base at nearby St. Hubert, was reported today to have hovered for several minutes over a playing field in Montreal=s north end.

    Claude Mercier said that he and about 10 of his neighbors saw the object hovering over a park area, at the intersection of De Fleurimont and Garnier streets.

    "It looked like a big round balloon, about 10 feet in diameter, with a yellow light inside," said Mercier in an interview. "Fiery sparks came from the underside of the object as it hovered over the field."

    "It was very low and it appeared as though it was going to land. But after hanging in the air a few minutes, it took off, rising not vertically, but at a slant and at a terrific speed. Within two or three minutes, we had lost sight of it on the horizon."

    LIGHT GOES OUT;

    "As it rose," he said, "the yellow light inside the balloon seemed to go out. All that could be seen was a slight mauvish glow from the object."

    He said the sighting was made about 8 p.m., approximately at the same time as people in suburbs on the south shore opposite Montreal were reporting a mysterious red light over the RCAF base.

    A spokesman at Air Defence Command in St. Hubert said the control tower operator there did not see the object. It did not show on the base's radar.

    "Our switchboard operator said she saw a black ball with a red light on it," said the spokesman. "She said the ball appeared to be sitting on the moon."

    "We have no official explanation for these phenomena," said the spokesman.

    Information was gathered on them and forwarded to the Transport Department in Ottawa. The Department, in turn, passed the information on to Washington, and from there, it was circulated to all parts of the world.

    The spokesman said that an object similar to the one reported Sunday night, had been sighted over the base a couple of months ago. When it was checked out, it was found that what people had seen was an aircraft with a red light on its underside.

    Was It Space Craft?

    OTTAWA (CP) - A federal radio engineer says an unidentified object sighted in the sky near St. Hubert, Que., could have been a space craft.

    W. B. Smith, superintendent of radio regulations engineering for the Transport Department, said Monday, there is no other explanation for the type of object sighted Sunday night by Air Force personnel at the St. Hubert Air Station.

    The sightings apparently were limited to the Montreal area, a spokesman at Air Defence Command at nearby St. Hubert said.

    A report on the sightings was to be forwarded to the Transport Department in Ottawa. From there it would go to Washington and all parts of the world.

    Claude Mercier said he and about 10 of his neighbors saw it hovering over a park area near their homes in the northeast end of Montreal.

    "It looked like a big round balloon, about 10 feet in diameter, with a yellow light inside," he said. "Fiery sparks came from the underside of the object as it hovered over the field."

    He said that after a few minutes it took off "at a slant and at terrific speed" and disappeared over the horizon.

    Says 'Fireball' Over Calgary Flying Object

    CALGARY (CP) - The director of Calgary's Centennial Planetarium said today an unidentified flying object seen over the city Wednesday may have been a fireball or a large meteorite.

    Seig Wiser said either might appear to hover - as reported by persons who sighted the object - depending on the position in relation to the observer.

    He said the sightings Wednesday night came at the height of a meteor shower.

    Harry Scott, 38, spotted a red object about 10 p.m. and called a neighbor, Albert Bromley. The two men, their wives and children all watched the object.

    "It came toward us, stopped and hovered for three or four minutes, then ejected a spurt of flame and moved away out of sight," said Mr. Bromley.

    "I don't believe in flying saucers and anyone who does is nuts," he said. "But I definitely saw this and God alone knows what it was."

    Less than an hour later, the object was seen again. About a dozen people in the street watched as it moved toward them. It hovered briefly before shooting away to the south.

    "It was visible for 15 to 20 minutes the second time it appeared," Mr. Scott said. "It looked about as big as a football about 20 yards away."

    He said the object was neither a meteorite nor an aircraft.

    Flying Saucer?

    Arrowed is an unidentified flying object photographed by prospector Warren Smith of Calgary in July in southern Alberta. The RCAF says this is the best UFO picture in its files and enlargement shows a domed saucer, 40 feet across, with bluish exhaust and "quite large speed." Also in Alberta, a forest lookout, Russ Hill, described as reliable by his colleagues, says he has seen UFOs four times in the last few weeks and several persons have reported sighting in the Calgary area.

    RCAF to Launch Calgary Area Search For Object Seen Falling From UFO

    CALGARY (CP) - A spokesman says the RCAF may send a helicopter to look for whatever-it-is that fell out of whatever-it-was in July.

    Whatever-it-was was seen by three prospectors near Nanton, Alta., and was photographed by one, Warren Smith, 27, of Calgary.

    Sqdn. Ldr. E. G. Chase of Calgary says Mr. Smith's photograph is the best one yet of an unidentified flying object in the RCAF files.

    Sqdn. Ldr. Chase said enlargement of Mr. Smith's photographs show a domed, saucer-shaped object about 40 feet across with a red light on top and what appeared to be bluish exhaust.

    One prospector said he saw something fell from the UFO and the RCAF spokesman said a search may be staged.

    The three gold prospectors say the object was seen west of Nanton, about 50 miles south of Calgary, July 3.

    The latest in a series of UFO sightings was reported Thursday by Nora Tibbs, a High River, Alta., housewife, who says her car stalled when a UFO circled over it Wednesday night.

    She said she was driving on Highway 2 near Aldersyde, 25 miles south of Calgary, when her car lights, radio and motor cut out.

    CIRCLED CAR;

    Then, she said, she saw a brilliant light she took for the moon. Then a dark shape, about 1,000 feet up, began to circle the car.

    "It circled around the car four or five times and then went away. I was just frozen, a real cold, right-to-the-bone actual chill. I didn't thaw out until noon the next day."

    When the UFO disappeared, the car's power returned.

    She described the object as oval-shaped with "a kind of a dome shape" on one side. She thought it vaguely resembled a dirigible.

    Forestry lookout Russ Hill, described as reliable and trustworthy by his colleagues, has reported four sightings - the latest Tuesday - about 35 miles west of High River.

    On Sept. 18, he says he was awakened by a humming sound and from his lookout tower saw a reddish object with a green light which hovered for about three hours before climbing and disappearing.

    He said he tried to start his power generators but found it shorted out. Later, Mr. Hill said, he saw the object on a nearby plateau.

    On Oct. 7 he heard a "throbbing, pulsating sound" and with field glasses saw a bowl-shaped object, 75 feet in diameter, sweep down a valley below his forest tower.

    He said the lights in his cabin seemed to flicker as the object passed. It had two light exhaust flames, a green neon-like ring around it and a dome with a pulsating yellow-green light.

    SAUCER SKETCH - Russel Hill, an Alberta forest lookout, drew from memory this sketch of an unidentified flying object which he says hovered near his forest tower earlier this month. Mr. Hill, described as reliable by his colleagues, says he has seen UFOs four times in the last few weeks and several persons have reported sightings in the Calgary area. He said the UFO in this sketch had a green light around the rim and a rotating green light (arrows) in the upper bowl. When it flew off, he said, the rim light went out, the dome light turned white and four blue "exhaust" flames came from the rear (left). (CP Wirephoto)

Grovue had gone into the dense bush 80 miles southwest of Calgary six days earlier hoping to find an object which he said fell from a UFO. Later, he was assumed lost in the bush. He apparently did not find any trace of the fallen object.

    B.C. boy says 'it took off super fast' of the UFO he saw for three seconds

    SURREY, B.C. (CP) - An 11-year-old Surrey boy has taken a picture of what he is convinced is an unidentified flying object (UFO).

    "It just went round and round in a circle, up and down and then took off super fast in the sky," David Knutsen said Saturday.

    He saw the object Oct. 15 from the kitchen window of his home in this Vancouver suburb after he noticed two RCMP officers standing in a parking lot, pointing in the sky toward the east.

    The picture was first on a 20-picture roll and his father, Harold Knutsen, wouldn't let him develop it until the other 19 pictures were developed. David received the negatives Friday.

    The picture, taken at 4 p.m. Oct. 15, shows a circular almost-black object with a sharp but narrow glow around its exterior. David said there were no distinguishable markings on the object which he estimates was about 400 feet away.

    He said the whole episode lasted about three seconds.

    Sgt. Arnold McPherson of the RCMP said Saturday he didn't know the names of the officers David said he saw.

    No UFO reports were filed with the police station and no one had mentioned any sightings, he said.

    David said he had been reading about UFOs but he said the sighting from his kitchen window was authentic.

    "It wasn't no round airplane, I know that," he said.

    A blazing white UFO, described as roaring like a jet aircraft was reported by an RCMP officer in Turner Valley, Alta., just two days before David took his picture.

    Richard Unot, left, 36, and Jacques Lavoie, 30, both of île Perrot, near Montreal, hold photographs of an unidentified flying object they took during a camping trip in a wooded area 320 kilometres northwest of Montreal Saturday. One of the men managed to take several photographs of the oval-shaped object as it skimmed across the dark surface of a lake in La Verendrye Park before it disappeared. They reported that a brightly glowing object hurtled out of the sky and sent them fleeing through the snow in terror. When it seemed to disappear, they said, they came back and found it near the lake, hovering silently over the water. They said it appeared for about 30 seconds.

    UFOs no laughing matter

    MONTREAL (CP) - It seems the Just for Laughs comedy festival has provided Montrealers with something more than a few thousand Unidentified Flying Jokes.

    Several Montrealers on the streets of suburban St-Laurent Friday night were convinced that the lights they saw dancing in the clouds belonged to an Unidentified Flying Object.

    They were likely caused by a group of laser spotlights the festival had set up outside a venue.

    But from about 9:30 p.m. Friday until early Saturday morning, Effie Kouzarra and several residents of her quiet, duplex-lined street were convinced they were having a close encounter of the very unusual kind.

    "I know it's a UFO," Kouzarra, 38, said as she stared up at three glowing white lights doing a slow, circular dance on the clouds. "I've seen one before, so I believe."

    Guillaume St-Sauver, 13, and Tim Brun, 14, were in a nearby park when people started pointing up at three, sometimes four lights in the sky just over the street. They ran and asked Kouzarra to get her Polaroid camera.

    "I took her Polaroid and I was running down the train tracks trying to follow the lights," St-Sauver said.

    "After a while I was right underneath them. They were all white, then at one point I saw four red lights under one of them."

    "I freaked out and I started to run like crazy."

    But not before he managed to snap four pictures of what he said were the lights.

    Brent Young, 12, said he looked up and "thought it was just an airplane going in circles."

    "They were going together, combining, then all of a sudden they'd split apart," said nine-year-old Demo Dritsas.

    Funny as it may sound, the Just for Laughs festival may have something to do with the sightings, festival spokeswoman Lorraine Jameson said.

    "During the festival, there are searchlights going on St-Denis Street," Jameson said Saturday. Under cloud cover, the lights appear as a bright spot that splits into smaller spots, which circle the sky before reuniting, she said

    The Belgian UFO Wave
    1990s

    Here we cover the famous Belgian UFO Wave from the 1990s, this was to cause quite a stir amongst the Belgian military and the worlds media covered in too;To this day the Belgian military authorities are adamant that these objects that were detected on radar ect remain a genuine unknown and are cases involving levels of very high strangeness;Also covered in this section is the famous Belgian UFO triangle

    The photograph taken in 1990 in Petit-Rechain is still analyzed by scientists

    BRUSSELS ;
    "The Belgian wave is the period from 1989 to 1991, considered the world's largest, was held during which a large number of accounts of UFO sightings in the area of Eupen, province of Hainaut and of Namur. The Belgian study of spatial phenomena of the time (SOBEPS) claims to have collected more than 2,000 accounts and has 20,000 pages of investigation report (www.sobeps.org).

    On the night of April 4, 1990, not far from Verviers, in Petit-Rechain, two witnesses, Ms. S. and Mr. PM, saw shining in the sky three white lights and round, forming a triangle with broken edges, with a bright circle in the center of the triangle, all remaining almost stationary and producing no sound, except for a kind of rustling. Miss S. saw the strange lights about 150 meters. She runs immediately seek MP, who seized his camera and takes the Reflex famous photograph of Petit-Rechain. It all happened in just five minutes.

    SOBEPS members - including survey methods, based on scientific verification of the facts are reliable - are analyzing the shot by Marc Acheroy, a nuclear physicist from the Royal Military Academy, by Professor François Praise, the private laboratory digital imaging, which cooperates with the CNRS and the French army by the photo service of the Royal Institute of Belgium's artistic heritage, with a photo lab performance, and by Dr. Richard Haines, working for NASA in California. The result, after years of analysis: the photo of Petit-Rechain is not faking.

    Ten years later, SOBEPS says the image at the Institute of Optics Orsay against a second opinion. The aim of the approach is to analyze the plate with newer software and compare the results with earlier data. Result: the picture is not faked, but they found something quite surprising was invisible until now: a swirl of particles moving around the vehicle. Currently, no one really knows the nature of these particles. It would be a propulsion system of advanced technology.

    Based on analysis of past and ongoing investigations, the photo of Petit-Rechain does not confirm the existence of extraterrestrials, but it has lifted a veil and question on a topic still considered fanciful.

    The Belgian wave: almost twenty years;

    March 30, 1990, amid vague Belgian, a file is opened by the Belgian Air Force after the pursuit of a UFO in the sky Brabant by two F-16 fighter. Two ground radar spotted and recorded a signal without knowing its origin. The planes were sent in pursuit, but the signal was suddenly interrupted.

    Copying recordings radar aircraft had been submitted to the professor and physicist Auguste Meessen, then people in Washington (which confirmed that none of their aircraft was in Belgium). The military still not explain what happened that day or what the fighters have continued. However, Mr. Meessen, in his report, a hypothesis reserved: it is possible that something unusual heat (temperature inversion) is out of whack radar.

    Ferryn Patrick, documentary filmmaker and UFO researcher for many years, has reopened this issue with friends of Cobepa (SOBEPS was dissolved six months ago and was replaced by Cobepa, which is no longer a non-profit organization). They wish to submit this case to further analysis in order to make further assumptions. But they do not deal exclusively with the issue of F-16.

    They also gather documents on the Belgian wave, they interview new witnesses near Eupen and look for experts who want to work with pictures and videos of current technologies (including a color video filmed by a pilot for Air France). This will soon be twenty years since the Belgian wave occurred. Since then, committees have been established in the United States (Disclosure Project), England, France, in order to transmit the information to the population of the army and the government on UFOs. Not in Belgium. Why does the country he plays not with transparency on an issue, however likely to affect the common interest?

The General Assembly of June 11, 2007 voted unanimously to dissolve the association, effective as of 31 December 2007. SOBEPS no longer, this site has been amended accordingly and the motivations that led to this decision are explained in detail in the "Dissolution of the association SOBEPS", the last editorial Michel Bougard, its president.

    A new structure, called the Cobepa (Belgian Committee for the Study of Space Phenomena) ensure the continuity of certain activities SOBEPS. It brings together some former employees and investigators gathered around Ferryn Patrick (who was co-founder, with Lucien Clerebaut, 1971) and Leon Brenig (physicist, professor at the Free University of Brussels).

    Cobepa The term n ' is certainly not accidental because the basic approach remains the same as that of the defunct association, that is to say, the scientific approach to the UFO phenomenon with an open mind about its nature and origin.

    The capacity of the Cobepa will, however, somewhat different. There will be no review or local, no library and no sale of books. In doing so, the committee wants to focus first and foremost a simple but effective structure. The main objective of Cobepa is to continue to take evidence of UFO sightings that may occur in Belgium. With this in mind, feel free to contact us if you yourself have witnessed or know people who are willing to testify (the complete anonymity is assured to those who express the will).

    When preparing a report devoted to the Belgian wave of 1989-1991, conducted by the RTBF for the program "Questions to A" (aired October 24, 2007), we could see how much there was still a great number of witnesses who had never exhibited during these special events. We also want to find and account for these unpublished observations.

    The Cobepa broadcast these stories (comments and / or investigation reports) through the website. He expects, too, when the occasion arises, to publish various articles and news briefs related to the UFO news, the work of SETI, exobiology and advances in research in the field of exoplanets.

    "The SOBEPS members – which investigation methods, based on scientific validation of facts, are reliable – ask for an analysis of the picture to Marc Acheroy, nuclear physicist at the Royal Military School; to professor François Louange, from a private digital imagery laboratory which cooperates with the CNRS (“Centre National de Recherche Scientifique”, National Center of Scientific Research, France) and the French Army; to the photography service of the Belgian royal institute of artistic patrimony, which has an efficient photographic laboratory; and to Dr. Richard Haines, who works for NASA in California. Result, after years of analysis: the Petit-Rechain picture is not faked.

    Ten years later, the SOBEPS asks the Orsay Optical Institute for counter-analysis. The purpose of this manoeuvre is to analyse the picture with more recent software and to compare the results with the old data. Result: the picture is not faked, and they have discovered something rather surprising, which was invisible until then: a vortex of moving particles surrounding the vehicle. To this day, no one really knows the nature of those particles. It could be an advanced propulsion technology.

    First Sightings:

    The first night of sightings was only the beginning of one of the best documented and witnessed UFO waves ever. On more than one occasion, two F-16 fighter jets chased the unknown flying crafts, but without results. One of the most notable sightings of the wave came on March 30, 1990 from a Belgian National Police captain, who watched a giant, triangle UFO passing overhead. Two separate radar stations corroborated the sighting.

    Radar Stations Report:

    Acceleration Data of UFO

    The triangle was moving very low, and very slowly over the landscapes of Belgium near the city of Glons, which is southeast of Brussels. A NATO manned radar station was reporting the object, and they soon found that four more stations also were getting a return from the object. The flying object would not answer hails to identify itself, and sent no transponder signal. Jets would be sent to find the object.

    F-16s Sent to Intercept:

    Blow-up of the image on the bottom screen below;
    The 990K is the speed of the object in knots.
    990K = 1830 kilometers per hour = 1.5 Mach.

    Colonel W. De Brouwer, Belgian Air Force, with the radar videos of one of the F-16s at the press conference of July 11th

    Two American-made F-16s were scrambled by the military to intercept and identify the object. One of the jet radars did lock on the object, which appeared as a diamond shape on the screen. Seconds after the lock on, the UFO quickly moved out of the plane's radar range. The F-16 went after the UFO, but after a chase that lasted an hour, the UFO escaped unidentified, except for two more radar returns.

    Beyond Our Technology:

    The F-16 pilot knew that he was chasing something that had speed and maneuverability far beyond the capabilities of his jet. At one point, radar returns showed that the UFO had dropped from 10,000 to 500 feet altitude in 5 seconds, an unbelievable move. The sightings of the giant triangles continued for months, being witnessed over and over again. They often flew low enough to easily be seen with the naked eye.
    Getting a Photograph:

    The sighting wave became a big story in the Belgian media, and it became apparent that getting a photograph of the UFOs was almost impossible... many witnesses snapped photos of the triangles, only to see blurred imagery. This unusual occurrence was investigated by physics professor Auguste Meesen, who discovered that infrared light was not allowing the objects to be photographed.

    Finally Captured on Video Tape:

    Finally, one good video film was taken of the object. The image showed the bottom of the triangular shape, with three red spotlights on the corners. The photograph associated with the Belgian wave is actually a frame capture taken from the video. The film was taken over the town of Petit Rechain.

    Classic Status:

    The Belgium wave has obtained classic status in UFO lore. With over 1,000 witnesses, confirmed radar sightings, plane radar lock-ins, and military confirmations, the fact that an unknown craft moved across the country of Belgium cannot be denied. The case is also important for its unique information sharing. Civilian and military officials were forthcoming with the reports, and set a model for others to follow in their pursuit to uncover the mystery behind the UFO enigma

    QUOTES;
    "Glons radar confirmed the sighting of an unidentified object at an altitude of 3,000 meters. Semmerzake radar confirmed the Glons detection and passed its confirmation onto the Air Force. The radar scans were compared with the previous Eupen radar sightings (see Eupen Case) by Semmerzake and Glons and were found to be identical".

    "Several police patrols had witnessed the same phenomenon before. It was a massive triangular shape with the same lighting configuration as seen at Eupen four months earlier."

    QUOTES;
    "Colonel Wilfred De Brouwer, Chief of the operations section of the Air Force, said: "That because of the frequency or requests for radar confirmation at Glons and Semmerzake - and as a number of private visual observations had been confirmed by the police - it was decided that as these parameters had been met, a patrol of F-16 aircraft should be sent to intercept an unidentified object somewhere to the south of Brussels" "

    As a consequence, two F-16 aircraft of the Belgian Air Force - registration
    numbers 349 and 350 = flown by a Captain and a Flight-Lieutenant, both highly qualified pilots, took off from Bevekom.

    Within a few minutes - guided by the Glons radar - both pilots had detected a positive oval-shaped object on their on-board radar at a height of 3,000 meters, but in the darkness saw nothing. This oval configuration, however, caused the pilots some concern. It reacted in an intelligent and disturbing way when they attempted to 'lock-on' with their on-board radar.

    Changing shape instantly, it assumed a distinct 'diamond image' on their radar screens and - increasing its speed to 1,000km/h - took immediate and violent evasive action.

    QUOTES;
    "Photographs of the actual on-board radar of the F-16s recorded a descent of this object from 3,000m to 1,200 in 2 seconds, a descent rate of 1,800km/h. The same photographs show an unbelievable acceleration rate of 280km/h to 1,800km/h in a few seconds. According to Professor Leon Brening - a non-linear dynamic theorist at the Free University of Brussels - this would represent an acceleration of 46g and would be beyond the possibility of any human pilot to endure".

    "It was noted that in spite of these speeds and acceleration times there was a marked absence of any sonic boom. The movements of this object were described by the pilots and radar operators as 'wildly erratic and step-like', and a zigzag course was taken over the city of Brussels with the two F-16s in pursuit. Visual contact was not possible against the lighting of the city".

    "This same procedure was repeated several times, with this object - whenever an attempt at radar 'lock-on' was made - pursuing a violently erratic course at impossible speed and losing its pursuers."

    "Colonel De Brouwer added that Immediatley after the operation, the pilots said they had never seen anything like it. Certainly the flight pattern and echo on their screens was in no way that of a conventional aircraft;"

    "The Belgian Minister of Defence in the Belgian parliament stated that The Government did not know what they were."

    The experts reports;
    quotes;
    "This picture was examined at length by various photography experts and scientifics, which have all concluded that it was strange and unexplainable:"

    P. Ferryn, photo analysis expert for the SOBEPS, en 1990;

    Pr Marc Acheroy of the Royal Military School, Brussels, who conducted a very thorough computer analysis in 1990 (in VOB.1. p. 416-418 et VOB.2. p. 234-240)

    Richard F. Haines, (Palo Alto, California) american expert on psychology of the perception in 1993

    D. Soumeryn-Schmit, chief of the photographic service in the Royal Institute of Artistic Patrimony in Brussels, 1993

    François Louange (Fleximage, Arcueil) conducted a computer analysis in 1993
    A. Marion (CNRS, Orsay Optics Institute) conducted a counter-analysis on computer in 2002.

    "This last analysis was presented on October 1st 2003 to Dr François Louange in the headquarter of Fleximage in Arcueil. Here is the content of it, extract from special issue nr. 6 of the magazine VSD, Nov 2003, pg. 37-39, and it confirms previous results ":

    quote relating to below picture of triangle UFO;

    "The famous slide of Petit-Rechain was analysed in the 1990’s by several experts in scientific imagery, particularly by Marc Acheroy (Royal Military School, Brussels), François Louange (Fleximage company, Paris) and Richard F. Haines (Los Altos California); on Oct. 15th 2001, Patrick Ferryn of the SOBEPS gave us this slide, he wanted us to analyse it in our turn using the latest techniques of image numerical analysis, used in the Theoretical and Applied Optics Institute in Orsay."

    "The purpose of this was to compare our results to the previous results, and to outline extra information and if possible draw conclusions about the authenticity of the document and about the nature of the object photographed.

    "On April 4, 1990 to 10:00 p.m. near Verviers, two witnesses, Ms. S. and his friend Mr. PM saw three lights in the sky white and round, forming a triangle with sides indistinct in the night, with a bright point in the center of the triangle, all remaining perfectly still."

    Released as every night to take her dog to a call of nature, Miss S. (18 years, student) was the first of the strange lights, about 150 m above sea level. Surprised, she runs to get her boyfriend stayed at home.

    MP (20 years old at the time turner maker in a local company) takes his camera quality (Praktica BX20 SLR, zoom 55/200 mm) charged with a roll of slides of fine grain and high sensitivity (Kodak Ektachrome, 200 ASA), the wedge against the wall, and took two shots carefully, only one proved successful, despite the care taken (pause B 1 second, building on the edge of a wall). The thing was not really silent, emitting a slight whistling and unusual. As soon photographed the UFO left, slowly, "point" forward. The scene only lasted five minutes.

    Of the two slides one, the first shows something. And again, the picture does not really look like what the photographer saw with his eyes. For example, where he saw white lights round, the image shows circular arcs, tasks, banana-shaped. On the second slide, it is all black and landed in the trash. This famous case is described and analyzed in depth in the article "Analysis and physical implications of two pictures of the Belgian wave" by A. Meessen, Professor at UCL, which appeared in No. 100 of the journal Inforespace in 2000 and published on the Internet in 2001.

    "In his article Professor Meessen arrive at this important result: the difference between what was recorded on the photographic film and what was perceived visually very well explained by assuming that this ultraviolet light. It has been shown experimentally that light could pass through the objective and be registered on the slide."

    "The presence of UV light in front of what was described as huge headlights and the fact that there was an association with the movements of the UFO opens a new field of investigation".

    IT LINKS THE PROPULSION UFOs AND THE BEAMS OF "SOLID LIGHT" ON PLASMA PHYSICS;

    "That is what matters, ultimately, in conjunction with a range of other indices, including decryption is not immediate, but important. On May 5, 1997, SOBEPS organized a "study day devoted to photography known as Petit-Rechain ". It took place at the Royal Military Academy, to provide an opportunity for all scientists who studied this picture to discuss them. attended: Marc Acheroy, Michel Bougard, Leon Brenig, Lucien Clerebaut, Patrick Ferryn, François Praise, Mr PM who took the photo",

    "Auguste Meessen, Emil Schweicher and Isabelle Stengers. P. Had been invited by Magain P. Ferryn and had agreed to present its experience in rigging and conclusions, but just days before May 5, he withdrew. When Professor Meessen became known, he contacted other members of the Institute of Astrophysics, University of Liège, signatories of the famous press releases, but no one wanted to come".

    FURTHER CONCLUSIONS;

    General obversation of the slide;

    In a first step, we have conducted a visual observation of the film after taking it out of its frame, then a digitisation by transparency using a flatbed scanner Agfa Duoscan T1200. Our observations match those previously made:

    - The frame of the picture is perfectly neat and with no split even if it is seen with a very increased contrast; this excludes a double or multiple exposure during the photography.

    - It is very difficult to consider faking with a model or any other similar process. This will be confirmed by numerical treatment (see below).
    - Video processing or CGI can’t be imagined either: such pictures characteristics are not found on the slide, even by increasing enormously the contrasts.

    Even if nothing can be excluded, it seems very likely that the picture is one of a solid object seen on a sky background, object of an unidentified origin to this day.

    Digitisation of the picture ;
    The second step was to precisely digitise the slide using a 35mm Canon film scanner with an optical resolution of 2720ppp, which brings a pixel size of under 10µm. That resolution is much bigger than that of the film (around 1µm) but greatly better than the smallest significant details in the picture, which are never under 20µm.

    Other than the four very luminous stains, the picture is nearly black and had nearly no contrast. It was thus necessary to have, as early as the digitisation, a noise/signal ratio as good as possible, in order to catch the smallest differences, even in the darkest areas of the picture. For that purpose, we have used a technique consisting in averaging multiple consecutive digitisations: by digitising n times the slide in the same conditions, one reduces the noise part of the image due to the electronic equipment by a factor of 1/sqrt(n).

    By digitising the slide in a normal position, then rotated by 90°, 180° and 270°, it is possible to average the fixed noise due to the structure of the equipment (non uniform answers from the bar photosites). To do that, you then need to reprocess the pictures up to the pixel, with an appropriate software, in order to superimpose them perfectly.

    It is also possible to reduce the quantification noise influence (i.e. the pixels are coded by 8 bits per colour, that is 256 levels) by averaging the digitisation of the film in ‘positive film’ mode and ‘negative film’ mode, because the answer curves of the scanner are not the same in both modes.

    Having then obtained a final average picture in its three components red, green and blue, we kept only a roughly 2 centimetres square, composed of 2430 by 2430 pixels. Finally, given the size of the smallest visible details (about 20µm as said above), we resized that zone to 1024 by 1024 by interpolation of pixels (fig 1.), in order to limit the size of the pictures and the calculation times.

    Numerical treatments results ;
    1. A contrasts increase brings out the object shape (fig. 2), particularly on the blue component (fig. 3). That outline is in the shape of an isosceles triangle ABC nearly squared angled on A, completed on its base by a quadrilateral BCED very similar to a rectangle. Taking into account the viewing angle, it is probable that angles A, D and E are square angles, and that the object is horizontal. On the object, very dark, are four very bright stains, that we will call lights to simplify. Three of those lights are close to A, D and E on the object, while the fourth one is situated roughly on the altitude AH of the triangle, from vertex A down to the DE base (fig. 4). It is not possible to estimate the size of or distance to the object, because there is no landmark.

    Some areas of the outline are nearly neat while others are blurred, indicating a relative movement of the object and the film. The most believable explanation is that the object has executed a movement during the exposure time, the camera being fixed, but we can’t exclude a small movement of the camera. The two extreme positions are shown on figure 5.

    The shape of the observed blurring can be explained by a rotation of the object in space, around an axis going through a point O nearly on the line BC and such that BO = O.25 BC (fig. 5). The rotation angle is close to 5°. We could simulate that blur effect by simulation (fig. 6).
    The same rotation also allows to find the whole set movement the four lights underwent, supposed circular on the simulation. However, the three external lights show complex coloured structures and distortions that this global rotation do not explain: the obtained pictures necessarily imply independent movements for all of those lights in comparison with the object.

    2. Various colour treatments allow to bring out a luminous halo around the object as well as light trails between the lights, particularly between the central light and the edge ones (fig 7.). However these treatments, in real as well as false colours, do not allow to draw a conclusion about the nature of that halo, nor to be able to precise what are those lights: lighting systems, signal lights or hovering/propulsion systems from the object.

    3. Decomposition of the picture in brightness, hue and saturation provides rich information, particularly on the saturation component. This information is substantially improved through frequency filters and colour compositions. Processes have allowed to show privileged directions, especially in the halo that surrounds the object (fig. 8, 9, 10, 11). These directions correspond to the orientations of small luminous grains which, on the picture, compose a sort of rotation around the object, to be compared to snow flakes being flown around in a wind vortex. We can also compare it to iron filings that would be oriented in the lines of a magnetic field. Would that be electromagnetic perturbations, an air ionisation process? Without any available elements, the nature of that phenomenon is difficult to precise, even more because it is practically unspottable on the red, green or blue components of the image. These new observations are even more interesting because they seem to reinforce some theories, like those of the ionic plasma waves, theory used by Auguste Meessen, Professor Emeritus at Louvain University, about the object propulsion (magnetoplasmadynamic propulsion).

    Anyway, the existence of those “force lines” is a heavy argument against a faking, which would then be particularly elaborated. Moreover one doesn’t see well a reason why a hoaxer would have undergone the effort to imagine and realise such a complex phenomenon, particularly since it is only perceivable with a sophisticated image processing.

    Conclusion;
    The numerical processing that we executed in Orsay on the Petit-Rechain slide have confirment the major observations already made. They also brought new surprising results about the luminous halo surrounding the object, showing a process in the appearance of a whirl. The nature of the physical phenomenon corresponding could, according to some authors, be linked to the particular propulsion system of the object. That question ought to be investigated FURTHER;
