Thread: Why Deck never had a RZA solo album??

Default Why Deck never had a RZA solo album??

This is crazy to me, Lyrically Deck is one of the sharpest of the clan. The group albums he always kills it, Features he kills it. But when it comes to his solo albums there generally underwhelming.

His solos are pretty weak. This is all down to production IMO. It makes listening to the albums almost a task. Deck is real talented on the microphone but always chooses garbage beats for his solos.

Deck should have a classic album like some of the other generals. The first round of solos had crazy classics, Liquid swords, Cuban Linx, Ironman... Why Deck never had a RZA produced solo around this time?

Deck would be considered alot higher then he is right now had he released an album of the calibre of Liquid swords and Cuban Linx. I really think a RZA produced album around this time, along with Decks skills with the mic would have pushed deck to a higher level in hip hop.

Its crazy to think where his career might be today had he released a classic, or even stepped his beat selection game up. Lyrically we all know he is capable of a classic album.

Anyone know why he never released one?

Didn't RZA lose a bunch of beats in the basement flood that fucked up his original work for the likes of Ghost too?

Maybe he was too busy to create beats for Deck for a whole album or some other reason idk

there was suppose to be INS solo cd but rza lost like 200 beats in the flood in his basements. that's why forever sounds so much different than the 36 chambers. i heard they had to completley redo Tical because of this flood, so that's not even the real Tical. Back then in my opinion Deck was the best out of all of them besides maybe gza. I can't even imagine Inspectah deck to actually have had his solo album come up when it suppose on the first round of cds.....the beginning to Box in Hand (IronMan) was Decks beat for his solo cd but they lost the recording. Regardless uncontrolled substance was still pretty good in my opinion. in a nutshell there are so many "what if's" in hip but this sure has to be on the top 3 along with what if Big L was still alive and what if Canibus got down with DJ Premier instead of Wyclef

    found this on his wiki

Inspectah Deck's debut album Uncontrolled Substance was initially set for a late 1997 release, however, this experienced several delays due to a flood in producer RZA's basement studio, which destroyed over one hundred beats, including those made for the album. Wu-Tang affiliate Cilvaringz stated in a 2010 interview "Recently Deck pulled out some disks from the flood and they worked again and he used one for his upcoming album on Koch."[5] In September 1999, Uncontrolled Substance was released, and featured more of Deck's own production, and appearances from several lesser known affiliates. The album received generally favorable reviews from music critics, but failed to garner the reception attained by earlier Wu-Tang solo projects. Shortly after this release, Deck returned to the Wu-Tang fold for the group albums The W (2000), and Iron Flag (2001).

hope they can get them all to work.
