The incredible trio of RZA, Poetic and Frukwan were a threat on the mic that didn’t get nearly enough of the recognition they deserved from the hip-hop world. By the time their sophomore album was released in 1997 a lot of things had changed from the first time around; the subject matter was more often conscious and mature in content and the group felt more like an established Killa Bee clique than a RZA side-project. Both of these things are on full display in the 4th Disciple produced single “Night the Earth Cried” which revolved around the slave trade in the 1600's and forward, boldly stating that we must never forget or neglect these devilish parts of the past.
U-God becomes a visual storyteller on "Night the City Cried", a ghetto tale chock full of specificity. Proving he's not just a one-dimensional rapper, Uey weaves a murder-revenge tale Ghostface and Raekwon could be envious of. An underground classic to U-God fanatics.
