what are the pros and cons?
pros:
-nippy
-good virus defence/no anti virus needed
-ubuntu looks pretty sweet, visually
-its free
cons:
-completely un user friendly, still
-will spend an hour just trying to figure out the install codes to perform the simplest of tasks (like installing a program)
-no gaming
-everything youre used to being easy on windows/mac is a hassle and often infuriating if youre a beginner
I loved it for the first 48 hours, then when the compatibility problems starting building up i was tearing my hair out searching the internet for answers for the simplest tasks, the answers were often even more complicated, simply wasnt worth it.
then W7 came out. all other OS became pointless.

I think the question is, what do linux users actually do with their computers? Apart from spend all day typing in code and etc.
I mean, if you like playing commercial games, then you should stick to the platforms that those games are made for (most likely windows).
If your going to be making beats and music with commercial software you might want to look into Mac OS X.
But if you just browsing the web, DLing music and movies, and watching Porn then Linux is perfect. Plus they have emulators for everything (nes, snes, n64, genesis, trubogrfx16, ps1, etc....) if you need games. There's software for everything, even music but you'll have to evaluate that for yourself because if haven't messed with it.
And read through your e-mail and faceboook messages....
