We're not exactly sure just how genre-worthy co-writer/director RZA's upcoming directorial debut The Man With the Iron Fists, the epic-style action adventure flick modeled after classic kung-fu flicks of the 70s, is exactly just yet but when you've got a co-writer like Eli Roth on the project and Quentin Tarantino presenting the film as the proverbial cherry on top, it's hard to not pay just a little attention to what sounds like a rather intriguing and pretty badass movie.

While on a recent set visit for Takashi Shimizu's supernatural thriller 7500, actress Jamie Chung chatted with Dread Central a bit about what we can expect from RZA's The Man With the Iron Fists. Chung stars in the film alongside Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Rick Yune, Cung Le, Dave Bautista, Byron Mann, Daniel Wu and Pam Grier.

Chung offered up an update on the film by saying, "The original cut was four hours long and RZA originally wanted to turn it into two movies but Eli wasn't on board with that. But they're really excited by the project and I have complete faith in RZA - he's a genius when it comes to these things. He knows the genre so well. It's now cut down to an hour and a half now and the picture is locked; he's just working on the music now.

"It will definitely have that cult feel to it though; Everyone who loves movies like The 36th Chamber of Shaolin and Five Deadly Venom will like this - it's a delicacy. Russell Crowe is doing some pretty incredible things in this too; things you'd never expect to see him do in a movie. You can only begin to imagine what Quentin Tarantino, Eli Roth and RZA can pull together on a movie like this."

Roth is also on board as producer on The Man With the Iron With Fists along with Marc Abraham and Eric Newman. Look for more soon!

    Synopsis:
The action-adventure is inspired by kung-fu classics as interpreted by his longtime collaborators RZA and Eli Roth. The Man with the Iron Fists tells the epic story of warriors, assassins and a lone outsider hero in nineteenth-century China who must unite to destroy the clan traitor who would destroy them all. Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people. Blending astonishing martial-arts sequences from some of the masters of this world with the signature vision he brings as the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan and as one of hip-hop’s most dominant figures of the past two decades, RZA joins Roth to embark upon their most ambitious, stylized and thrilling project to date.

It's an action movie, not Gone With the wind. 4 hours is a mess.
