Seems like the internet itself has made alot of things about Hip Hop overrated in general today. We have so many opinions on things and less definition now. I can't even hold a serious discussion about the birthplace of Hip Hop New York because I'm speaking to some anonymous forum user who I've never met in real life. If you ask me there's no need in taking online opinions too seriously.
The list has a lot of bullshit on it and it comes off as faggot-made and half assed... Hip-Hop shows overrated? That was the point where I had to draw the line and retract all credibility, somebody who knows their shit would never say that. Theres nothing like seeing a real emcee on stage getting shit hype, interacting, people all around you vibing to the dope beat pounding through the ground. Writter sounds like he went to a select few over hyped shitty concerts and wrote the stage presence of the whole genre off. Sure some artists are dope live and some are boring, but not more so than any other genre.
Several other things mentioned were never highly rated in the first place, so how could they be overrated? Chris Brown? Really you had to resort to that, you couldn't think of anything better? Know your genres dumbass.... That's all I have to say man idk shit was kinda wack to me.
Boston - NYC
"There was a time when Underground Hip Hop consisted of the likes of Black Moon, Canibus, Cormega, Ras Kass, and Immortal Technique. A place where independent artists had the ability to express their artwork without the pressures of commercialism. Now these days, the landscape is filled with a bunch of Brian Scalabrines. A bunch of nerdy rappers who instead of trying to make music naturally, go out of their way to create “real” music that ultimately sounds forced and contrived."
Realest shit ever said ever.
"We accept tires" - Cappadonna
Another brilliant point --->
"The impact of ‘Ether’ is not up for debate, it shattered the inner core of Hov’s existence, it took him a while to rediscover his swag. However, the song itself was filled with childish insults to go along with an awful beat. There’s no denying Esco was the benefactor of a culture that loves to root for underdogs, and fans just wanted to see Goliath fall, under any circumstance."

Not to burst anybody's bubble but I was heavy into the underground back in the 90s and that list mentioned above is pretty far off, it always amazes me what people on here consider/considered underground hip hop to be, shit, ive heard people on here refer to Wu as underground many times.
He bigs up Nastradamus but shits on Life After Death? "I Used To Love H.E.R." is overrated? haha
The funny thing about that list is that I don't give a flying fuck about 1 single point on it and never did even at the height of my interest in hip hop.
In the end people just like expressing their opinions or the "opinions" they borrowed from someone else. But who gives a fuck? Just listen to the music and enjoy it. That's really all that matters.
