There hasn't been a good horror movie in a while, they are all the same nowadays. I just peep old Giallo's now.
The story isn't great, but Insidious was pretty cool. It's got great sound effects.
Da Universal Magnetic Bitch Oppressor
"Oppressing bitches individually and in groups since 1976"
the last horror movie that freaked me the fuck out was the Ring
"The skywalker, that be leapin' over planets"
^ Yup Yup
Okay, here's a mini list, and the haters can suck a fat juicy cock if they don't like it:
First and foremost, I don't care what ANYONE says, the "REMAKES" of classic horror movies are great, all of them.......and the fans of the classics who say otherwise, are purest pussy ass losers who can't deal with change.
That being said, I recommend these:
Rob Zombie's Halloween I and II (2007, 2009?)
Friday the 13th (2009)
Nightmare on Elm St (2010)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2003, 2006)
The Amityville Horror (2005)
Psycho (1998)
The Thing (2011) - NOT A REMAKE, A PREQUEL TO THE 1982 VERSION, WHICH I ALSO RECOMMEND)
^ Not to mention check out the classic version(s) and the entire franchise as well, but the remakes did justice, I don't see how purest people disagree.....
others:
- Pet Cemetary
- People Under the Stairs
- IT
- CandyMan
- Hellraiser (franchise)
- Child's Play (I,II,III - Bride of Chucky & Seed of Chucky are more comedy oriented, but I disliked them whole heartedly)
- Children of the Corn
- The Changeling (NOT THE ANGELINA JOLIE FLICK!!!!!)
- The Shining
- Salems Lot
- The Thing (1982)
- Ghost Ship
- 13 Ghosts
- Stir of Echoes
- the Exorcist
Just a few >.........let me know if you want more suggestions dude.
you liked the remake of Nightmare on Elm St. ?
^ Yea dude, aside from the original and New Nightmare, I thought it was the best one. I thought the fact they made him a child rapist (like he was supposed to be) was a good call instead of just being a child killer, and how the parents killed him was a lot more legit than the original.
Even without Robert Englund, I thought the Jackie Earle Haley was a good replacement.
Audition (1999)
Suspiria (1977)
Creepshow (1982)
Motel Hell (1980)
Night Of The Creeps (1986)
Evil Dead Trilogy (1981,1987,1992)
An American Werewolf In London (1981)
The Fly (1986)
The Thing (1982)
American Psycho (2000)
Maniac Cop (1980)
It's Alive (1974)
De Lift (1983)
Dog Soilders (2002)
The House By The Cemetery (1981)
when i was a kid i remember you could walk through the supermarket and they would have the horrror movies in a bin by the register, and just the covers alone were enough to chill a kids blood.
nowadays shit is whack as fuck, and in hindsight so were the old classics from back then, but still.
real life is the real scary shit, but i still love the attempt and will absolutely watch some horror regardless if it's worthy of a spine tingle or not.
1) 28 Days & 28 Weeks later (the beginning in 28 Weeks Later says it all.......both should be on a "must watch" list)
2) Texas Chainsaw (2000's remake, and prequel)
3) Rob Zombie's remakes of Halloween I & II (self explanatory)
4) Nightmare on Elm st. (the entire franchise, though Wes Craven's "New Nightmare" is prob my fav out of the original series....)
5) Scream (the 1st and original one specifically, though I will say for the record I liked Scream 4)
6) The Thing (both the original 82' and the prequel in 2011; very cool series of movies)
7) Friday the 13th (2000's remake) -made ALL of the original movies look like crap, jason Vorhees was fucking scary in this.....another must watch) (O_O)
8) Dawn of the Dead (2000's remake) - This movie is a personal fav, because it really introduced the "mainstream" world of RUNNING ZOMBIES!!!! which is scary as fuck; I've had nightmares about the zombie apocalypse....)
9) The Exorcist (classic)
10) Drag Me to Hell (This is the last horror movie I've seen that has been made in the last 3-5yrs by Hollywood, that I'd consider tolerable. I thought it was hilarious, but at the same time it had those scary moments.....)
This is my list as of JUL 2012 >
The remake of Friday the 13th made the earlier ones look like crap? lol
This is another set of threads that deserved to be merged together rather than having a dozen separate ones -
