Seinfeld
i think that goes without saying
^where do you leave shows like The wayans brothers, the fresh prince etc
oh ya Frsh Prince is a classic too
lol see there so many
i dont know if guys remeber new york undercover
that wasnt a sitcom. I'd say Seinfeld too
home improvement & married with children were funny ass shows.
^ My fav without saying, I still watch it whenveer its on.
Useless fact: After the series finale broadcast on May 14, 2007, The King of Queens became the last American live action sitcom that premiered in the 1990s to end its run
married with children had the most balls. they didn't hold back anything
Martin
Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.
^ I've heard about that but never peeped it. Think I might check it sometime though!
The Wayans Bros. was my shit.
Marlon used to kill me when he'd go off-script.
That's what was great about shows like Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show and The Wayans Bros., those random improved bits that are so ridiculous that they make it to air.
i'd add larry sanders show, alan partridge to the list.
seinfeld is definitive though, timeless genius. and i think it tapped into a destructive, selfish and fundamentally narcissistic part of peoples psyches that hadn't been explored before.
people underestimate comedy as throwaway sometimes, but there are certain comedies that are more revealing and truthful than other forms of fiction. the reason why some comedies are timeless and others are corny is because some tap into real frustration, pain, and love in peoples hearts. larry david didn't go into writing brainwashed by scriptwriting courses, he pulled from real life. any great comedian in the last 20 years has drawn from that MO.
btw i'm thinking the next great sitcom will be the 'thick of it' (another classic show) spin off/sequel 'veep' with julia louis dreyfuss.
Home Improvement
Seinfeld
in no particular order
"The skywalker, that be leapin' over planets"
