as an american im way more likely to die of a heart attack than by a gun shot

my bet would be that if guns were made illegal in the usa there would be more guns on the streets than there are right now

prohibition does not work in the usa, they throw billions of dollars away on drug war budgets and drugs are more abundent and cheaper than they were at the start of the drug war in the 70's

You're right in a way but a completely stubborn idiot also. Homicide isn't caused by the accessibility of weapons. The problem is deeper than that, which is amazingly obvious, so congratulations. However, as homicidal violence is so entrenched in your culture, don't you think maybe it might help just a little if guns were less accessible?

Your speculation on the black market situation which would arise is nonsense. There is no logic to believing that stricter gun laws would actually increase the number of firearms in the US. Prohibition of all firearms doesn't exist in many countries to my knowledge, but the ability to purchase fully automatic weapons over the counter is restricted in most western societies where violent crime has been an issue. It works well. The obstinate attitude that American's have towards weapons is self endangering stupidity and reflects how conservative and deeply paranoid your society is.

Palehorse's comments are a joke of course. Him thinking that having a few guns will give him any kind of freedom in a situation where the state behaves violently towards citizens is as ludicrous as him having $30,000 cash. The US army, who's funding is ironically so vehemently supported by right wingers, could crush any dissident movement with ease. The laxity of gun laws in the US doesn't even enter into that argument. It doesn't matter how freely you can purchase weapons, you've poured so much fucking money into your military that as "libertarian" civilians you have absolutely no freedom if a police state were to arise. America is great, but not for any of the reasons Palehorse thinks it is.

You can keep on ignoring the ridiculously high rate of gun crime your have in your country if you like and it will continue unabated.

It's even more ridiculous that people from other countries, who don't really give a shit about whether you guys kill each other or not, are still more concerned about gun crime in the US than citizens are.

nah u guys are wrong. guns were banned in DC for years and that didnt help anyhting at all. havent looked at any statistics but im sure the gun violence either stayed at the same rate or increased after the bans. i live pretty close to dc so i here about alot of murders out of the nations cap. even a few of my friends were murdered in DC.

what are your gun laws like overseas??

your absolutly right about violence being a part of our culture, usa is a western culture so of course.

and no i dont think that it would really help at all, people would just be getting stabbed more haha

and nowhere in the usa is it legal to purchase a fully automatic weapon, it is possible to obtain one legally but i dont think its easy

your right about the strengh of our military but personaly i would rather be armed than unarmed in that situation, we'ed have to fight gurrila style of course

trust me guns would be pouring accross the border if they were outlawed

but this is a moot discussion anyway there are far to many guns in this country to ever disarm us

and no one has even brought up the point that this crime took place a city that has some of the toughest gun laws in the country lol
