Its not necessary to learn the history of music to enjoy new music. If you're a big enough fan of the music you'd research it and find out more naturally. Its not a responsibility.

And rock n roll fans have to listen to pink floyd and led zep because nobody makes rock and roll anymore except old bands rehashing their old stuff into lesser versions of themselves.

Yeah rap veterans are different than rock veterans for whatever reason. If Kool G Rap came and made a solid new album, it wouldn't sell for shit guaranteed. On the other hand, if Black Sabbath reunites and releases a new album, it'll sell comfortably. Different markets I guess.

I think 15k is a solid number for an artist who's been out for almost 20 years. Obviously if this album came out in '97, it does way better than that. I went to two stores last week to buy the album and nobody had it in stock. We'll see if Tyler can sell 89k first week album sales 17 years from now.

no one will look for something they dont know exists. kids today wouldnt know wu-tang from orange tang.

And rock n roll fans have to listen to pink floyd and led zep because nobody makes rock and roll anymore except old bands rehashing their old stuff into lesser versions of themselves.
nevertheless the music is passed on to the next generation. rap hasnt done that. there's a disconnect. that disconnect can be attributed to classic artists spending most of their energy hating on new artists.

Well wu-tang should make some music that isnt 15 years out of date, then maybe they can reach the 'kids'.

Wu-tang is a big part of modern hip hop in terms of influence on the new generation though, you dont have to look hard to see it.

When you were young didnt you like certain music, and that made you check out other stuff that you thought was similar? Do you think thats unique to one generation of music fans?

the top selling rap artists of today exhibit 0 wu influence in their music. kids arent going to listen to wu unless someone outside of the machine exposes them to it. if you dont sound like nikki minaj or lil wayne you gets no love.

15k is damn good for an obscure project with very little promo or hype.

    you old cynic haha

Some of them though, like kanye west, rick ross etc. you always hear rappers namecheck wu, then theres rappers like childish gambino, lupe fiasco that are in the mainstream to a lesser degree.

According to Sinfullycute this album sold 15k because of Killa Sin.

Exactly. Goblin sucks, it's ignorant and sounds like music made for/by 12 year old rich kids.
